Took our 3 kids (18,11,10) on a deep sea fishing trip. Encountered 7-9 foot waves. Only got to drop lines 3 times. No life jackets handed out though side rails were almost hitting water from boat swaying. Entire cabin filled with passengers laying their heads on table. Lucky that no one outside the cabin was thrown overboard. Captain never came out after we docked. Deck hand made comment about being nausious for the first time. Found out that almost all afternoon excersions for other companies had been cancelled because of the expected rough seas. Called and received $50 refund offer on a $250 charge. Feels like a company more interested in taking cash and less interested in customer experience. Cannot in good conscience recommend this company. read more

We rented a pontoon boat from this marina. The radio was broken, the steering wheel was extremely unresponsive. The boat quit on us in the middle of the bay and wouldn't start up. We ended up bringing it back and getting a refund. It's pretty sad because we rented from this place 2 years ago and had a great time. My family and I rented the 16ft pontoon . Let me tell you what ...that thing was a giant turd . Do not waste your money on that pontoon . I wish I would of taken pictures . All in all it was a great fishing trip. We were there at 7:30 am as requested and ready to load the boat at 8 am. The boat we were going to get on had mechanical problems so we had to change boats. We were late leaving the marina but the captain made up for it and we stayed out a little longer. The crew was very helpful. We rented a double slide pontoon boat for the grandkids. We started with a leisurely boat ride around Ono Island before beaching the boat on Robinson Island. Everyone had a great time. The kids were non stop activity up and down the slides. Grilled hot dogs for lunch and the little ones were asleep before we got back to the dock. Staff was courteous, friendly and very helpful, helping us to load and unload the boat. Every one agreed it was the best day of the vacation. read more

Fishing charter was way overbooked. Our family saved forever to go on a beach vacation with deep sea fishing being our main event. We had to take turns fishing because there was not enough room to fish. The boat was completely packed all the way around and every time you put your line in it got tangled with about 6 other people. Horrible experience. Highly disappointed. Please look elsewhere for a fishing charter. The others may be a little more expensive but at least you'll get to fish! This review is for the 6 hour fishing charter on the Wishbone. First let me say I have been on party boats in the past, and avoid them like the plague. To many first timers who don't know how to fish or get sea sick. For several years I have private chartered, and have had good trips and not so good trips, the biggest down side is the cost 6-8 hours can cost $1000 or more. This year our the family vacation kinda derailed with last minute issues and I found my self fishing alone. Not wanting to spend 1000 and hating party boats I searched and found the Wishbone. The biggest attraction for me was its size and cost, only 18 fishing capacity and $125 cost. This meant smaller numbers of fisherman and I hoped the cost and 6 hour trip would filter out the first timers. I was correct, this was a wonderful boat and crew. The captain knew how to get us on fish, since most on board had at least some experience we all helped each other. It was red snapper season and we caught the limit and the were very nice size. While this is technically a party boat it has more of a private charter feel at a tenth of the cost. I will go back and do this trip again and encourage any avid fisherman to do the same. read more

This was by far one of the worst trips I have been on. The mates were great and nothing bad can be said about them. the fishing was almost non existent, but that's not why it was bad. We were told that we would have 2-3 foot seas every 2-3 seconds and that it would be a rough day on the water. I've experienced rough days on the water before and what we experienced on that trip should have caused the trip to be canceled or a partial refund given back. The seas were easily double what we were told. We had 36 people on the boat and when I stopped counting over half had thrown up due to sea sickness. The captain had to constantly keep the boat moving to manage the seas which caused lines to be tangled and casts to be wasted. It took us 2 hours of a 4 hour trip to get where we needed to be and then we moved spots around 3 times. I think I may have fished for only 40 minutes. I will never use Hudson Marina again no matter how nice the weather is. read more

Family of four guys (two fathers and sons) on the four hour fishing trip on Friday, July 29, 2016. You will spend 60 minutes to get offshore, 120 minutes fishing and 60 minutes back to shore. The crew/deckhands were very helpful. Had plenty of bait. My son caught about 3 vermillion snapper. Could not seem to find the fish. We were one of a couple folks that caught more than one fish. There were a total of 10-15 fish total caught on the boat and not many of those were really keepers. There were probably 50+ people on board so there were line tangling etc, nothing different than a typical drift fishing boat. The crew was helpful getting everything untangled, just what happens when you have so many people on the boat and lines in the water. Even though though the cost on the web site is shown as $59 with all fees it is about 30% higher so from a truth in advertising i would suggest the owner adjust fees to include the required amounts ($5 for fuel and 15% gratuity). All the fees are clearly shown! Survey from our crew was a thumbs down to do drift fishing again in the future. We would suggest pick a local captain, pay the extra money (expect to pay $100-$150/hr) fish a center console inshore operation and catch some fish. read more

This wasn't my first time deep sea fishing but it was the first time not catching anything , the water was rough so maybe that's why but nobody was reeling anything in. They honestly should of cancelled our charter and put off for another day abc by the time we headed back the wind had picked up to the point waved were about to tip the boat over so he drove straight into them and of course that caused the boat to take in tons of water and everyone be soaked . What a fun and educational way to spend 4+ hours. Captain Dan worked hard to find schools of fish that were biting. Julie and Jason were moving constantly to assist and/or counsel with the technique and to describe and name the various fishes caught. My family and I rented out a pontoon boat for the afternoon. We were told to arrive at 1:30. The woman behind the desk gave everyone paperwork and we seemed to be on track to a good afternoon. When the woman pulled out her binder and sent a man to check on the boat, it was discovered that the electrical problem the boat was having that morning had still not been resolved. The woman did not offer anything else since our plans had been cancelled after we arrived. When asked about perhaps being allowed to rent a jet ski or two she said no and then proceeded to joke around with the other workers about how we were dumb to think they would let us take the jet skis. Ultimately, we left to go back to the beach without a boat. The customer service at this place is lacking. Obviously boats break and things happen but a phone call earlier that day would have been much appreciated. read more

My wife and I enjoyed an awesome trip aboard the Southern Rose dolphin cruise! The boat was spacious, air conditioned and got us on the dolphin sightings pretty quick! The have a full service bar that also serves snacks. Anyone looking for a beautiful boat ride with the excitement of seeing wild dolphin pods should book a trip! I highly recommend them! This trip was a disaster. The boat should have never departed. We trusted this company's judgement and they drove us into a huge storm. We spent over 3 hours of our trip dodging storms and unable to fish. I did catch a fish, just so you understand I am not just a bitter disappointed fisherman. I took my 3 and 5 year old daughters with me and they were understandably terrified, cold and wet for the entire trip. The indoor cab was not big enough to keep all passengers out of the thunderstorm. When we got back I called and spoke to the owner or manager, I'm not sure which, about the situation. He promptly accused me of trying to get something for nothing and hung up on me. This trip is cheap in every sense of the word. The owner/manager is disrespectful, rude and incompetent. Read before booking! These guys are new to dinner cruises. There is no structure to this event. Took the dinner cruise and they booked more people than had seats. They also ran out of food that was advertised as "buffet". Well if you happen to be at the end of the line when they tell everyone to go at the same time, you won't be eating. Paid a good deal amount of money for 5 people and was served BBQ, beans, Mac and cheese and slaw. All of which tasted like from a can. I don't eat extravagant but paying for a dinner cruise I thought it'd be more. I wouldn't come back and I'd love my money back since we paid for dinner that we didn't get most of. The only thing that made me feel better was when we came back to get off the boat, the captain wrecked into the dock and messed up the boat and slip. read more

THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE FISHING.! Being that I live 1.5 hours from the gulf my husband and I fish all the time.! But I promise I WILL NEVER GO BACK.! The deckhand Steve was rude, cussed every other word, and then ignored you when you guys were just talking. Im a huge advocate for keeping the oceans clean and not littering while Steve used a balloon and then proceeded to throw it in the water after being done with it. Instead of acting like they wanted to be there they cut out trip short 45 mins, wanted to go home (cause that's all they could talk about), and then expected a tip for the service. I was never informed of the gratuity fee that was added onto the cost of the trip which is theft.! And then on top of it when we checked in the girl at the counter acted like we were a bother because we were early. Don't bother with the fishing charters cause they definitely aren't worth the money.! read more

Horrible!! The pontoon was filthy dirty, and covered in mold. The seats had tons of rips in them. The lady who walked us around to do an inspection said "I see a couple of scratches." Which I promptly corrected before we left. 5 minutes out all electronics stopped functioning. The staff seemed beyond bored with the information when we returned. I guess you get what you pay for. We've used Hudson Marina for the past 3 years booking the 4 hour fishing trip and have always been pleased. But we were back in Orange Beach for vacation with friends and we booked the 6 hour trip on June 13, 2017 and there was 5 of us and we were very disappointed, only one of us caught anything. We spent most of our time waiting for the only two deckhands to come either fix our reels or bring us another one because they were messed up usually with not enough line in them to even drop to the bottom like they told us too much less having any extra line to release when we did hook a fish which ended up breaking the line. My husband hooked a huge fish and was releasing the line as the deckhand was telling him too and then wham right in the middle of the reel was this huge bird's nest that was buried under all of the line and it costed him his big fish because it broke the line due to not being able to give it anymore slack. And my poor 38 year old daughter went through probably 5 different rods while we fished and none of them had enough line on them. As I said we had always been pleased with y'all in the past but not this time. The equipment was very bad. My husband already said that when we come back next year we will be going with a different company. We paid over $500 and had only one fish and that was due to faulty equipment because they were biting. I'm not one to write bad reviews but we had been looking forward to that fishing trip for months and we're so disappointed. Y'all need to make sure that all of the rods have enough fishing line in them and in good working order before taking paying customers out to fish. One positive note is that your prices are great and your employees are very friend but just bad equipment. read more

Two moms and two kids... On two hour tour! Well worth the money and just right for a 7 and 9 year old. We saw jelly fish and dolphins but the main attraction was the crew. All activities were well-time and spaced out with something for everyone. We did the morning pirate ship cruise and we're back at the condo in time for lunch. Everyone was friendly. Rented a 19' Lux as they called it for the entire day. Went out and had a good time although the boat was terribly under powered and could not get over about 10mph. When we returned at the end of the day, I noticed that ALL of the other 19' Lux boats were still there and all of them were in much better condition than the one we were rented. I asked what the cost difference was for one of the nicer ones and was told that they were the same price! I immediately asked why we were rented the worst one they had......no answer, just excuses. read more

This was such an easy excursion to book online. The website was very informative about what to bring and expect. The crew gave good clear directions and was very helpful. I took 3 teen kids, they caught some really big fish and enjoyed the experience a lot. There's only 1 helper on the boat so you have to be somewhat experienced and you're putting live bait on your own hook. I don't have a problem with this but if you do then you'll need a boat with more one on one help. The view is beautiful, and the boat ride is fun. The negative is that your fish don't get marked well. My son caught some really big ones, my daughter caught several fish and my sons friend caught several; we left the boat with 3 fish. They said 2 per person was the limit, so we should have gotten 8 fish. We caught red snapper, which is a good fish. It cost me over $600 for the trip & I felt we were fish shorted. When you get back to the dock you're on your own. There's no clear direction on getting your fish cleaned. There was no one around to answer questions. There was a young boy who cleaned our fish and had no clue about our trip or the fish. Clearly my son caught these big monsters but the other 2 kids walked away without any of the fish they caught. Between the 3 kids they caught 12 keepers and about 15 total. There should have been no reason we didn't get our 2 limit per person. So ask questions and watch your fish. That's a lot of money to pay and not get what you caught. read more

Rented a double-decker pontoon that was supposed to have a water slide for the little ones. The engine was laughable, and the bucket we were supposed to wet the slide with had a hole in it. The workers found humor in our misery, and they weren't interested in refunding the money for what we thought we were renting. At least it floated... We rented a "luxury" pontoon from this company and were a little confused as to what was luxurious about the boat. When we completed our time, we returned to the dock and were surprised that we still had to pay a gas charge. As we spoke to the young lady at the counter, she was rude and condescending in that she just kept repeating that they told us that when we made the reservations and when we took the boat out. When we told her that we were unaware of this charge, which was why we were surprised when we got off the boat, she was rude in the manner in which she handled the entire situation. We felt that it wasn't the charge that was tacked on at the end, although that was a little tacky in that you rent a boat and the gas should be included in the cost, but that the staff was rude and almost defiant in their handling of the charges. We will never return and will definitely not recommend them for a boat rental. read more

We were in town before the season started and somehow they made a dolphin cruise happen. We were a group of five aged 6 to 66 and we ALLmhad a GREAT time. We saw more fun frolicking Dolphins than we could have imagined. The captain and his one woman crew were amazing. They really cared. We would recommend Hudson Marina whole heartedly. They are a small business with people who genuinely care. read more
