The bananas are cheap. I like this relatively new farmer's market. They have some very good prices. They had my persimmons when they were in season. They have a good selection including somewhat unusual items (bok choy, cactus pears, jicama). And they have some great deals like .32 per pound bananas. Quality of the produce varies.. but there are some very good deals.

They carry a wide variety of fresh veggies & fruit. All is reasonably priced. They have a much larger selection than you would imagine. I noticed at least 6 or more varieties of peppers. Everything is inside & under a real roof, which makes it comfortable. One thing in particular I appreciate, was the tomatoes were NOT boxed. I prefer to pick my own & a whole box is too many for just 2 of us. To top that off they had local Ruskin tomatoes, my favorite! What's a girl to do? You can find produce in stores, but nothing beats getting it from a farm or stand that carries local produce.

Why buy really fresh vegetables and then keep them around the house for a week? No. Get fresh vegetables and, then, take them home and eat them! Besides, it's just nice to stop by for a visit.

I certainly would not call this a Farmers Market by any stretch of the imagination. The one thing I keep going back for is their meat and deli counter. They carry good quality butcher meats and Boars Head deli meats and their prices are a touch lower than the grocery stores. They used to carry the best rye bread in town but have sadly discontinued it. It's a good place to stop if you're passing by but I wouldn't go out of my way.

I got large 2 bunches of bananas, 2 large onions, a Kent mango, a FL avocado, 4 ears of corn, a large yellow squash, over a pound each of green beans and snow pea pods, and a dozen large farm eggs, all for $13.50! There's lots of plants there too. It's fairly close to Fletcher/I-75 and Morris Bridge Rd. I have finally found my regular fruit and veggie market!

I loved the "defect" section where foods past their date are offered at 0.45cent/lb. It reminds me of the company that saves "ugly" produce from grocery stores to resell at a discount.

So as a person, if you tend to run cold wear a jacket in here. I would rather see that so that they are keeping all their products cool to increase shelf life. Girl at counter was very friendly, and had a good attitude. This is a much better alternative than the local grocery stores.
