I was part of a private work event here and absolutely loved learning how to make fresh pasta, sauces, salads and tiramisu! Chef Justin, Thomas and Alli were incredibly welcoming, patient and great teachers. Our party had a blast cooking together and learning teamwork in a new way! The three hour session starts out with a tutorial and demo, you are put into stations before working in pairs to prepare one item. People were making sauces, chopping or assembling at any given time. We made the pastas together and then broke off into stations depending on what we wanted to learn. As someone who's never made dessert but had a lot of experience making sauces, it was super fun to learn something new and have guidance right next to me. Three hrs flies by! We loved dinner and they were really accommodating with vegetarian options. You end up with plenty of leftovers after and are stuffed by the end. I highly recommend this for a special night out with a friend, family or loved one! The staff is warm and professional and really makes the experience special. I got the last seat and it was at the counter. I went for the brunch edition of Chef Competition. Three rounds (appetizer, entree, dessert) with "mystery" basket ingredients. If you've ever seen Ch****d, this is the real-life version. Has an AMAZING time. Chef Izzy vs Chef Jared. This was an EXPERIENCE, not just brunch. Went for a chef competition with my partner and we had a great time! It was our first time going to one of these and I definitely recommend checking it out. Just know to arrive 30min to an hour early because parking is absolutely ghastly. They don't have a dedicated parking lot so good luck finding it somewhere. We went on cinco de mayo so maybe parking was worse than usual. Whenever I'm watching the Food Network or Top Chef, I always dream of being able to try all of the food as one of the judges --- recently at Hudson Table, I was able to do just that! My husband and I had a gift card that we used to attend one of their Chef Competitions --- and it was by far one of the coolest brunch experience we've ever had that I would highly recommend for any foodie! We arrived 15-20 min prior to the start of the event and were greeted warmly and offered complimentary coffee. We were allowed to choose any open seat and bee-lined for one of the chef's counter seats (others are seated at tables elsewhere in the room, and it's first come-first serve). Our chefs introduced themselves and chatted with us as they prepped for the competition, explaining that they had both seen their "secret ingredient list" when they arrived that morning about 1 hour prior to the event. Eventually, our host reviewed the rules: the chefs would prepare 3 courses (appetizer, entree, dessert) using only the secret ingredients along with any pantry staples already present in the kitchen. Each chef and their sous chef could work on any of the three rounds at any time, but had time limits for when a course was anticipated to be plated. We were given rubrics to grade each course on taste, presentation, and creativity. And then --- they were off! We had a blast observing the chefs, picking up on cooking techniques via observation, sampling sauces at various points in their creation, and watching them plate each course. We were served 6 total dishes, with one chef clearly winning for presentation while the other really won us over for taste. Unfortunately, after a frittata debacle (it didn't cook all the way through within the time allotted, but the finished edge pieces were delectable), one chef emerged a clear winner. Some notes: The chef competitions have limited seats and seem to sell fast. Our date opened at 11 AM and was sold out by 11:20 AM, so if you're interested in attending, make sure you're ready to book right at ticket release! They request that patrons with dietary restrictions watch for special chef competitions accommodating these needs, but did ask about allergies/restrictions with the intention of trying to accommodate if able. This was my second experience with Hudson table, my first was a chef competition in Hoboken. This time we cooked in Philly, and it was cool. They really let you be free and cook your way but they are there to help anytime you need it. Service was great, Chris was very attentive on his first day. Awesome cooking class in Northern Liberties. We walked in where we were handed bread with bruschetta. My friend and I were paired with 2 other people to prepare dishes. This cooking class is good for someone who wants to make a fast cooking version of a meal without the clean up. They had everything already measured out and in separate trays. All 4 of us worked as a team to prepare dishes. It did help me learn more about how to get better at my knifing skills (like I didn't realized when a tomato is too watery you can cut it on the opposite side). While we grilled the lamb and shrimp kabobs, they cleaned our tables in order to prepare space for us to eat at. I would definitely consider this place a great idea for date night or an outing with friends. They even offer parties and chef head to head competitions. PLEASE read the reviews about how terrible their customer service is before you support this place. I bought 4 tickets to take my dad for his birthday. Shortly after his friends asked to come and asked if I could grab 4 more so they don't sell out. Cool I do so. After getting $1200 from us I get a text demanding an extra 20% and them accusing me of not wanting to pay gratuity for a large party. First of all this isn't a sit down restaurant literally nothing changes by adding more to my party since they plan for like 20 people every night. So demanding an extra 20% because I ordered someone else's tickets is just greedy. When I questioned the policy and told them that seems unreasonable they canceled our entire order and tried to argue over text about not wanting us there anyway and trying to scam them. Yikes. I could've easily used someone else's info if I want to scam them. I have brought several people here for special occasions despite the fact that the food is usually pretty mid the experience was fun. So if you want to support terrible customer service and lack luster food by all means go for it. Most of the chefs are pretty nice so it's disappointing that their management is so unprofessional. Never going back. Thankful I got a refund when I did Update: since the owner is a liar here are the texts where he claims I lose my mind. Clearly I am very calm while he is rude. This business is a scam. You intend to sell the 20 seats so me taking 8 is no different than two parties taking up the 8. So glad I never have to deal with the again. I was expecting for this class to be more of a couple experience to be able to cook together- but it wasn't that at all. They chefs took most of the cooking into their hands. It was just my bf and I- so you will share your kitchen/dining space with another group/couple if you sign up as 2 people. We had a full class- so it was really tight working around the kitchen space. Our menu was a Spanish paella with churros for dessert. The paella we created was great-the rice was the one thing we were nervous about not being cooked fully-but luckily came out just fine. It's BYOB- so make sure to bring something to sip on for your meal. They give you instructions on what to do- with chefs following around the room to help out. They mention some tips/show you ways to cut, prepare any items before hand. Throughout half way, the class felt a very rushed and most of the time- the chefs who were instructing were using our group as the demo for most of the time. I only stirred the rice (since that was the one thing I was worried about most). We also did not get to make the desserts, which we were most excited for- we only prepared the batter for the churros-while the chefs fried the churros while everyone was eating. We had a good time here though I'll say they're still ironing out kinks and could improve the instructions to make the buck fully worth the bang. I'll start by saying to get a spot for the February Valentine's Day course took some hoop jumping and stalking their Instagram in order to get enough info and book before things filled up. The process should be simpler and though I can understand that planning meals takes time, I wish the calendar of events was at least updated out a month in advance (so can book for February in January.) As far as background...This is a NYC concept that's made it's way over to Philly. It's nice operation in concept and I'm happy they're here to spread the fun! Our meal was "A Day in Italy" consisting of broccoli rabe, white bean dip, fresh pasta, and a tiramisu - solid menu! Located in the Piazza, it's a bit tough to find parking in the area so we did plan to show up early so we could leave enough time to circle and find parking. They do have good COVID precautions in place following city guidelines and asking us to be masked up until we enter and show valid vaccination status. We first gathered at the large kitchen area where the chefs go over the menu of the day and good kitchen safety and knife techniques. Then, by first come first serve, we sit at tables of 4 to make a meal for the table. The apps are made family style and then the pasta dish was made for two. There are instructions and pre portioned ingredients for all dishes. The instructions didn't exactly always go with what we actually ended up doing - so it became confusing. I found best to ask questions for better guidance. There was one main chef and then two supporting chefs that worked the room and helped answer questions and move things between set up and clean up - all very helpful and eager to aid! Overall the dishes came out great and they were generally simple enough to make. We've never made fresh pasta before and it was definitely the highlight of our experience and we could tell it was the general focus of the course. Our company at the table was also good to hang with and it was nice meeting new people. The course is BYOB and we came prepared along with some to go containers for leftovers (Hudson Table did communicate this via email before our course so it was nice to have this information prior to coming on site.) First and foremost - Jared was amazing! I will start this review off with the negative. I asked for a gift certificate for Hudson Table as a holiday gift years ago and was elated when it came. I immediately went online and found many courses I'd love to take. However, when I went to sign up for one, as a single person, I COULDN'T. Odd. I went to choose another and still, couldn't - there were only even number options. Odd. I reached out to HT to see if I was doing something wrong and they responded that all classes were designed for even number groups but sometimes they ~allowed~ single people or uneven groups. Naturally I was upset. A single person can't take a cooking class? That seems discriminatory so I guess I'm out $100? Note that the owner, Allen, was the one who responded to my emails and was quite rude, stating "If you want to check back in the same day at 12 pm we can potentially sell a single ticket then depending on the sign ups. At this time, we can't sell a single ticket in case another pair potentially wants the last 2 tickets." However, after years of looking at classes, I was able to find one that ~allowed~ 3 people. Last night my friends and I attended the FORZA ITALIA - HANDS ON which featured Chicken Saltimbocca, Vegetarian Bolognese, Braised Green Beans, Crispy Potato Confit, and Apple Crostada. The night started off with a demonstration on basic knife skills, explanation as to how the night would go/the order in which to cook the dishes, and instruction regarding set-up. Wash your hands, put on your HT provided apron and name tag, and you're on your way! The prep stations were set up with everything you needed. All of the ingredients pre-portioned and freshly washed and instructions on exactly how to prep and cook your meal. We opened up a bottle of wine (yes, it's BYOB!) and went to town. Jared and the individual assisting him helped us along the way, offering advice, helping us clean up any scraps, putting items in the oven, etc. I will say that some of the items were pre-prepped as they needed to rest in the fridge (crostada crust and pounded chicken saltimbocca specifically). As far as the taste/results of the meal went - it was delicious! Who knew we were such great cooks!? Haha Sincerely, Jared and his team were wonderful and everything was fantastic. We cooked, we learned, we had wine, great laughs, listened to amazing music, AND didn't have to clean up. Perfect girl's night out. We've been to 3 events with Hudson Table - a virtual paella making class during COVID, an in-person Mediterranean cooking class last summer, and an in-person chef competition this past January. Hudson Table has such a wide variety of classes and offerings, there truly is something for everyone! Our first virtual experience was awesome - we stopped by in advance of the class to pick up the pre-portioned ingredients, logged on to the virtual link, and cooked alongside the chefs. It was sooo helpful to have the ingredients shared with us and measured out for us already; it really made the process go more smoothly. The Mediterranean class was amazing - my husband took me for my birthday, and while it was a "public" class, no one else booked that date, so we wound up having a private class for the 2 of us! Our chef helped guide us along the steps in the recipes, sharing some knife and prep skills along the way. We made a ton of dishes (lamb, spanakopita, tzatziki, shrimp, tabbouleh) that we got to enjoy at the end of the class (and we took home so many leftovers since we didn't have to share with others). It was during this class that we learned about the chef competition, which we knew we had to experience. We stalked the class releases and purchased tickets for the January chef competition for 4 so we could bring our brother and sister in law. Unfortunately, on the day of the event, my husband wound up being in the hospital, so we tried to get a refund for our tickets or reschedule. Hudson Table was not very helpful in our situation - since it was last minute, they tried to sell our tickets, but no one took the offer. They didn't offer a refund, which in fairness was in the comments when purchasing (but a hospitalization seemed like an extenuating circumstance...). Luckily, my husband got discharged literally 2 hours before the event, and since we paid a decent bit for the tickets and didn't want to eat the cost, we were still able to make it. He still enjoyed himself (just couldn't drink the wine pairing and stayed put for the most part of the night, not really walking around too much to see the chefs in action), but we were frustrated by the inflexibility of Hudson Table. Nevertheless ... the chef competition was an amazing experience. I loved being able to watch the chefs in action and seeing their creative takes on the available ingredients. While the ingredients were less crazy that some that we see on Chopped, it was still so fun to watch it all AND get to enjoy the creations. The ambience was amazing, really felling like we were on the Food Network with the countdown clock and rating process. Since it was full meals by 2 different chefs, it was a ton of food and I wound up taking ~50% home with me, haha. Despite our frustrations earlier in the day and stresses of if we were able to make it or if we had to eat the (expensive) costs, we had a great time at this event. The money was definitely worth it, and I would totally do it again (hopefully when my husband can fully enjoy it - hopefully no other scary situations beforehand!). Attended a private birthday party event here and it was my first time visiting the place. Amazing set up and can easily hold 40 people. Chef Doug Brown was amazing...loved everything on the menu starting from pork belly tostado (tomato jam was epic) , pumpkin sage agnolotti, Peruvian roast chicken. The entire staff was super attentive and made sure that tables were all the time clean, food was filled up continuously and very flawless transition from apps to entree to cake cutting to desserts. Came for their Lunch in Italy class, and it was one of the more disorganized and strange cooking classes I've taken. Most people came as a couple, and they have two couples at each prep table to create a group of four. Now, instead of each couple making a full meal from start to finish together, they want each group of four to make one meal. So they split you into pairs and actually recommend couples splitting up so that one person from each household can see parts of the cooking that the other person won't see. This makes sense in theory, but you end up spending the entire class with a stranger and only seeing half of the process (eg, I made pasta dough with my new partner, but later on my husband rolled that pasta dough with her husband...). Not exactly what most couples are looking for in this experience. Additionally, the chefs do not demonstrate how to make each dish in front of the class. They simply hand you a piece of paper with the recipe on it, tell you to follow it, and then are available if you have questions. And out of the three chefs in our class, they all had different and conflicting instructions when assisting students. I think if they can rework the class so that each couple cooks an entire meal together, and the chefs have cohesive demonstrations this would be a much better experience. read more

My partner and I ordered the Thanksgiving meal kit which included brined and roasted turkey, gravy, cranberry chutney, cornbread stuffing, butternut squash, candied pecans, mashed potatoes, roasted garlic, caramelized onion, broccoli and cauliflower gratin, fontina, parmesan, citrus crumb, fall spinach salad, brussel sprouts, dried cranberries, gorgonzola, creamy dijon vinaigrette, potato rolls, pumpkin cheesecake bars. They were kind, instructive, and created an overall fantastic experience. As a pair, we made two dishes along with another pair who made another two dishes, creating a four-dish meal to share at the end. We did all the prep and cooking (just not the measurements) throughout the whole process. My kids gave me a gift certificate for Hudson Table for Christmas because I really enjoy cooking. Went to a cooking class themed "American Steakhouse" last night with the hubs. We prepared Mahi seviche. Fennel salad with charred orange, duck fat roasted potatoes, and NY strip steaks. Dessert was a vanilla bean crème brûlée. The menu was outstanding - we loved every aspect of it. Hudson Table has a cute vibe, and the service/hospitality was terrific. Chef Jared, Justin and Lily were amazing. I also picked up some great chopping/dicing tips (yes you can teach an old dog new tricks), and I can't wait to prepare the same menu for my family. Everything was perfect - thank you! BEWARE!! Over the summer booked a date for my wife and I at Hudson Table but, unfortunately, 4 weeks before the date we ended up having a conflict. So I reached out to the Hudson Table team to see if there is a way to rebook another event as there were a number of other events (including ours) that had not been sold out yet. I figure 4 weeks notice would be enough time to make alternate reservations. That way we get to still experience Hudson Table, they still receive the revenue, etc. However, the staff would not accommodate any changes to the reservation. So we ended up eating $300. At first they claimed it was due to using the reservations to purchase adequate/correct amounts of food for the specific event, which I then questioned why food being purchased so far in advance? They then back tracked and said it's actually similar to purchasing a ticket to a Broadway play. If I had to cancel a Broadway Play, would I dare reach out to the staff to cancel? Unfortunately, I had to remind the owner that for a Broadway Play I would have a ticket(s) to a seat and would have the ability to resell the ticket online, as well as, dictate the price. In this scenario I have no ticket, just a reservation, and cannot resell this online. In fact, this may be more similar of a scenario to purchasing an airline flight. In which case, yes, 4 weeks out - I would reach out to the airline if I had a conflict and would ask to make alternate arrangements. My advice is only book this place if you know you won't miss it. From reading the reviews, if you attend the event it sounds like a blast. However, if for any reason you can't make the event, no matter how far in advance, I would not purchase anything here. As many of the reviews below mention, there is no Customer Service here. They'll make you eat the cost. Obviously, I would never advise doing business here because of my bad experience, but if you do decide to move forward, just proceed with caution. read more

I've wanted to try this place for a very long time and after hearing they have a weekend seafood shack, I knew I had to get me some of that. So on a Sunday evening, hubster and i finally got around to ordering a warm lobster roll and coconut shrimp. We were not very hungry but in the mood for something nice so we were also initially contemplating to split the lobster roll only!! Fast forward 30 mins after we picked up our order, came back home and excitedly got drinks ready, we open the boxes to find a teeny tiny piece of lobster roll. I doubt it was even 4 inches. It was pretty average in taste too. Shrimp was still better but very small size and small portions. We were not hungry enough to start with but after paying $35, we still had to go back to cooking food at home so we could just fill our stomachs. I don't think I'll go back here. read more

This was a fun and unique experience! We were fortunate enough to attend on their opening night, and I don't have to tell anyone how wonderful a new place smells. Ahh! Hudson Table is located at The Piazza in a brandy-new spot. Our evening consisted of a hands-on cooking experience called "Couples Night Out: Seductive Foods". Hubba hubba. The menu consisted of Chorizo and Ham Croquettes, Fennel and Charred Orange Salad (and char the oranges we did!), Porterhouse Steak, Duck Fat Roasted Potatoes with Fried Rosemary, and Vanilla Crème Brulee. They provide you with everything you need - all you need to bring are your beverages of choice. We were provided with the recipes and away we went to slice, dice, chop, stir, sauté, and burn (a bit) our courses. Our group of 4 was like the rowdy kids in high school, so admittedly we were not paying attention to the recipe steps as best we could have. We were laughing and talking too much. Had we drank less and read the recipes more, then we may not have had to be course-corrected by the chef and staff. They were laughing along with us and that made the experience fun. Keep in mind that you will need to take a few minutes to really review the recipes. They're not overly complicated, but for someone like me who rarely cooks, I felt a little lost at times. My husband picked up the slack and bless his heart for that! You get to enjoy the fruits of your culinary labor at the end, which is the best part of the evening. They turned up the music and turned down the lights. It felt more like a restaurant than a cooking school atmosphere. The seating is first come, first served, so if you're a party of 4 or more, then it's a good idea to ensure that you arrive early enough to be able to sit together. Hudson Table is such a fun night out if you're looking to do something different. My partner and I love to cook, but we make the same stuff all the time in our tiny kitchen with zero guidance. I had been eyeing the classes at Hudson Table for a few months before I pulled the trigger on booking the Japanese Surf and Turf class on Valentine's Day weekend. I signed up for the Hudson Table newsletter to be notified by e-mail when classes were added and available which seems to be the best way to make sure you get seats. This specific class literally sold out the day it was announced, so I'm glad I booked as soon as I received the e-mail. It was $110 per person for the 3-hour class plus gratuity which you have the option to add when booking or the night of the class by cash/Venmo/card. My partner and I showed up with another couple and were seated around the big kitchen area with about 10 other people - the classes are intimate which makes for more 1:1 attention. They do require proof of vaccination which also allows attendees the option to wear a mask indoors or not throughout the class. It's also BYOB so make sure to bring your own drinks! They do provide water and snacks when you arrive, so a little something to tide you over until your meals are prepared. Also note, they suggest you bring your own tupperware for leftovers which I appreciated because well, we love leftovers. We spent the first hour and a half following all of the instructions provided to create our 5-course meal. Everything was already measured and prepped for us to save time. The ingredients were simple and fresh, and the recipes were super easy to follow. I kind of wished it was a little harder to be honest, but I understand they want to keep it moving for all comfort levels. The rest of the time was spent having a nice sit-down meal and enjoying the fruits of our labor! The staff were so friendly and kept things moving quickly. We didn't have to lift a finger or clean a dish at any point in time. Anything we needed was in our hands before we could even ask for it. Last night, my boyfriend and I had scheduled a date night at Hudson Table. While on the way to the cooking class we parked where my car had been, only to realize it was stolen and pinging off in North Philly (total freak incident). Keeping in mind the poor reviews regarding refunds, we scrambled over to HT and explained our situation to head chef (needed to locate car, file police report, etc). The chef and all staff were very empathetic, encouraging us to take care of business and urging us to reach out to owner (Allen) to reschedule. The chef even noted he had texted the head chef and said everything would be handled if we reached out. This was countered by a blunt email from the owner indicating that the chef was in no position to allow this and that we'd be eating the cost of our class --- no rescheduling, discount, or credit was offered. The conditions of the class cancellation fees were understood prior, but the handling by the owner was dissatisfactory and disheartening. Staff seems nice; management needs to take a class on etiquette. read more

We had our daughter's bridal shower at Hudson Table this weekend. Everything was just perfect. The team was helpful, efficient, and unobtrusive. The menu the chef created for us was creative and tasty, with care to keep it completely gluten free because of celiacs disease in the family. All our guests kept going back for seconds, saying what a scrumptious meal it was. Even the music playlist, curated by one of the staff, was the perfect accompaniment to set a festive mood. The bride was thrilled and all had a wonderful time. This is a really cool space to host an event or party, with spectacular food prepared in full view. We loved it! read more

First of all, I am not writing anything about the class nor their food. I am writing about the owner Allen who has no concept of customer service whatsoever. No empathy nor trying to accommodate what I expressed was a bit misleading on their website. I have no problem and do not mind paying for what I was actually trying to purchase at all, which was for a hands-on cooking/dining. Yes, i understand that all sales are supposed to be final, but OWNERS can make an exception. Calls me back, very pushy, overbearing and arrogant, and just trying to make money because of the "covid pandemic". Definitely bad attitude not worth supporting. Hudson Table catered our wedding and we would 100% recommend them! The service was exceptional all around and our guests are still talking about the food. Prior to the wedding, they took the time to discuss our vision with us and help us create it. They were excellent at keeping in touch and updating us each step of the way. On the day of the wedding, they had everything taken care of. Literally everything. We felt so at ease. The experience was very personalized from the asian themed appetizers to the ice cream and s'mores desserts by the campfire. We picked up the Hudson table Mother's Day meal kit today for a socially distanced picnic at my parents house. It was perfect! I was so happy to finally try their food. Altho I really can't wait til they reopen and I can cook! The pick-up was easy; the instructions were clear and everything was packaged nicely. Our menu was fantastic: Spring Strawberry Salad Cheddar and Bacon Cornbread with Honey Butter Crab Cakes - Lemon-Herb Panko, House Remoulade Grilled Chicken with Bruschetta Tomatoes and Pesto Spring Hash - Asparagus, Mushroom, and Baby Potato Hash with "Everything" Spice Crunch lemon Olive Oil Cake with Lavender Honey by Natalie We fired up the grill and heated up everything that needed it in the foil containers and had a nice meal 6' apart on a beautiful spring day. If you want a low stress, overpriced, BYOB date activity, this would be fine. However, if you're expecting authenticity or to learn anything, this is not it. A few friends and I recently did a class that was themed around Oaxacan cuisine. The instructor was nice but he was a white guy from Jersey with "chef" experience in rural Virginia. (In a city full of Mexicans, they couldn't find a Mexican chef?) The recipes were bland and from the internet (my friend recognized the "Oaxacan" chocolate chip cookie recipe from TikTok). The ingredients provided were not great (the Oaxaca cheese for the fundido did not taste good. They definitely didn't source ingredients from a store that sells actual Latino products, even though there are options within ten blocks). Another dish was "avocado risotto" - white rice mixed with an avocado cream sauce. No mole or other staples of Oaxacab cuisine. Overall, I felt misled by the description of what we signed up for. They clearly have never researched Oaxacan cuisine. I would never make any of these recipes again. read more
