We came here for a wedding, the place looked pretty, nice ambiance. Bathrooms should have been gender neutral as men and women were open and across from one another, and exactly the same. Bathrooms were not tended to at the 300 ppl wedding, it was gross. The appetizers were too different and nothing was labeled, the attendants didn't speak English and weren't much help, what if we had food allergies, in which we do, It kept us from eating food. The food was subpar the salmon was bland and not much crabmeat. The green beans were not even cooked and were flavorless. The ribeye was way over cooked. The desserts trays were the cheap mini options and cookies. A few breakfast type options were unique for a wedding. Bottom line, it was just ok, nothing great. read more

I drove past this place so many times without even noticing it but I finally got a chance to explore inside once last weekend for a wedding I attended. This venue is located on Broad Street at the intersection of Green. The venue offered complimentary valet parking but we were able to find street parking even though we were about 30 minutes late into cocktail hour. They have a stunning floral mural before you walk into the dining/reception area. It's definitely smaller venue than other places I've been to but I loved their table set up. They had 2 long, rectangular tables with circular tables surrounding those setting a clear aisle leading to the dance floor. Attended a wedding here this past weekend. My son got food poisoning from something that he ate there, it was terrible, we narrowed it down to the sushi because my husband and I didn't eat that and neither of us got sick. The venue was very loud and we had to leave the main room to talk to anyone, my ears are still ringing. Came here for a wedding this past weekend, and I have to admit that I was blown out of the water with how beautiful this place is. You wouldn't think so from the surrounding area, but stepping inside is a whole new ball game. Upon walking in, you are greeted by servers (I think?) and given directions on where the bars are, where each food station is located, and where to sign our names for the bride and groom. It was definately nice to be shown where things are instead of hunting around for everthing. Tons of tables to stand around to eat and a few chairs to sit at as well if you're tired (during cocktail hour). There were also very large bars and you didn't have to wait long for a drink at all. The rooms were huge! Didn't feel cramped at all. And when they opened up the curtains to the main ballroom area, it was absolutely breathtaking. Whomever set up the rooms did a wonderful job. The food was catered by cescaphe and it was AWESOME. They had everything from lobster tails (yes, they had lobster!) to pasta to salad. I loved the pasta station and the seafood station the best. The crab legs and the lobster risotto was my favorite items. They also had servers walking around with appetizers as well. I only sampled a few of them, but from what I sampled, it was delicious. During dinner, you had a choice of Filet, Sea bass, or rack of lamb. Mmmm!!! So many wonderful choices. Then later on in the night, they had a breakfast/dessert bar. OMG, how cool is that!? I got to eat breakfast at 10pm! They had funnel cake, chocolate cake, pancakes, omlettes, etc etc. You name it, they probably had it. So good. Absolute perfection (and you pay for that!). I attended a corporate holiday soiree complete with 2 bands, a DJ, a photo booth, Open bar, lavish cocktail hour and a "stationed" dinner with Carving station, sushi, sliders, Italian/Pasta station and more desserts than any diabetic has a right to enjoy. The coat check, restrooms, bartenders, food service folks and management were all TOP notch. Wow. Like a frikkin' wedding. Or Bar Mitzvah. Amazing! read more

We were there yesterday evening and had a wonderful time celebrating the work of Fox Chase Cancer Center. The space was very nice and the food was excellent. I glad that they had valet service and was very surprised when we walked out the door at the end of the event and our car was already there even though I had not yet given the our ticket. The one downfall is that there was nothing to absorb sound and it was loud enough that a conversation was very difficult. If I get invited to another event there I would look forward to attending. read more

This was the first time I went to one of the venues that is catered by Cescaphe. Now I understand why everyone raves about them. I attended the "Pink Ball" which is the Susan G. Komen fundraiser to support finding a cause for breast cancer. The food they provided was excellent. If you love seafood like I do you will be blown away by the ginormous shrimp and the crab claws. The pasta bolognese was so delicious I had to cheat on my pescatarian diet for the night. The evening was finished off with the most wonderful gelati bar with mix ins that you can imagine! I hope that Vie hosts this event again next year as I will surely be attending. read more

Very nice large event space. I attended an industry event there last night and all the staff were very attentive and friendly. My only complaint was the set up of the table we were at was behind a pillar that completely obstructed the view of the stage so we missed a lot of the presentation but with the size of the event I don't think they had much choice in trying to maximize the table count. read more

This is a beautiful venue. I was here for a ball last night. When you're driving past, it doesn't look like there could be too much going on inside of the building, but it's misleading. The interior is very nice. The chandeliers are classy and the room is very spacious. The bar is circular, and somewhat see-through, so while you're ordering drinks on one side, you can see what's going on at the other. There is beautiful wall art situated at the entrance, but if you're taking pictures for a wedding, you may not be able to appreciate it. Vie is larger than Cescaphe's Tendenza, and it seems more elegant (though Tendenza is nice as well). The food, which was catered through Cescaphe, was okay. Valet parking was helpful because parking in the neighborhood can/will be difficult because it's a busy area. Also, if you have an event here, be mindful of the traffic on Broad St. It's a headache when you're trying to park or pullover to let passengers out of the car. read more

Last night I checked out Vie for the second time after being invited to the John DeBella Comfort Food Fest. My first visit was for the PhillyMag party last summer, and the place was just barely in functioning order. It was more of a swanky warehouse than an event venue at that point. Several months later, it looks like Vie is almost ready. I say almost because while the interior was complete, the outside patio area is still under construction. But that patio will really make the venue, and it will certainly make for a huge advantage over most of the city's other event spaces. I do wish the decor was just a little more modern. While it shies away from the traditional ballroom style for the most part, some elements remain. The chandeliers are mismatched and the larger ones in the center of the room come off looking a bit tacky (in my opinion). The bar area is nice and big and I like how the one bar functions to serve both the reception area and the event room. Although, the black bar has a barely visible ledge that probably sees many spilled drinks each night. Bartenders at this particular event gave off that very busy vibe even though the crowd at the bar was fairly minimal. If you've read my reviews of other event spaces, you'll know that I am not a traditionalist and so this space, while newer and nicer than some others, probably wouldn't be my first choice when planning a personal event. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished patio, which could change my mind completely. read more

We went to the New Year's Eve soiree at Cescaphe's brand new event space and everyone was very impressed. The space is classy and beautiful. The service was fantastic. The food was amazing. Attended a wedding reception here, and had a beautiful and amazing night. Thinking critically about the venue, we loved some aspects and some were just alright. Loved: Appetizers. Seriously, between the lobster tails and caprese salad at the wraparound table to the sushi bar in the entry to the passed hor d'oeuvres (like mini beef wellington and raspberry cream cheese crepes), we had eaten enough incredible food by 6:45 to last us until Monday morning. But it's a wedding - so the eating was of course, not over! We also loved the filet. Perfectly cooked, medium rare, tender, great cut. Loved the projections of patterns on the wall. Tied the theme into the space very well. Loved the long bars. Loved the liquor selection. Loved that the space held so many people so comfortably! Indoor and outdoor, both lovely. Loved the ladies room too. Spacious, stocked with little random things you might need. Liked not loved/Just OK: Service. Most people were nice enough and got you what you needed without too much time passing. It was adequate, but I wasn't wowed by anyone in particular. Lots of time spent searching for water. Bartenders seemed not so excited to be there, let alone pouring me water, even though I was tipping. Desserts were ok. The selection was pretty awesome - cheesecake, fruit tarte, bananas foster, make your own crepes, funnel cake - but the execution just wasn't quite there. We liked the idea of passed ice cream sandwiches, but they were melted when they got to us. Didn't love the wrapped salad choice. Or my chicken. Like I said, the appetizers really shined in terms of food. Overall: A fantastic, versatile space with great elements and lots of potential. If they can up their game on large scale meal service, this will be *the* place for events in Philly. read more

I just realized I never reviewed here and my visit was months ago. Jim Kenney had an election night event free to the public after the May primaries. Since it was now a victory event on a campaign I had worked, I was even more excited to attend. It was definitely a nice spot. I didn't sample any of the food, but, heard it was good. That was because it seemed like mostly desserts when I was in the mood for something savory. There was a last call before the place even started to clear out and show signs of wrapping up which I thought was a bit odd. Way to be a buzzkill. Otherwise, the bartenders were great and it was a ball. Would come to more events in the future. read more

Hiring twenty valets to block the sidewalk on a Thursday early evening? Douche central. The music was loud and obnoxious, the rented Porsches parked out front looked pretentious, and there was way too much hair gel. If you frequent this place, congratulations, you're what's wrong with Philadelphia. Seriously, I cannot stress enough how inconsiderate to the surrounding neighborhood and pretentious this lame fest really was. I hope it closes in a week. The valets wouldn't even get out of the way when a man in a wheelchair tried to pass until I spoke up. P.S. To the valet who ignored me when I said excuse me on behalf of the man in the wheelchair, yes I bumped into you on purpose. You deserved it and I hope it still hurts. read more

Sufficient, not great. Too loud to hear or talk. Mismatched decor. Excessive mediocre food for appetizers and cold food for dinner. Bar and staff is mediocre. Attended 4 events at this venue in the past 10 months, the events were special because the people were special. The venue is not special. Maybe finishing the garden space that they promised to finish almost two years ago will successfully add a much needed element of ambiance. The turquoise painted wall spaces with white trim, black tile floor and tropical mosaic aren't exactly elegant. The parking valet staff informed us that tips were appreciated. read more

I was here recently for a wedding and was less than impressed, however there were a few positive aspects. Pros- 1. The cocktail hour after the wedding is amazing. There was a full seafood bar, with lobster tails, shrimp, crab, half shells (anything you can think of), as well as a pasta bar and sushi stations. 2. The venue is beautiful 3. While waiting for the ceremony to start, guests are given flutes of champagne while mingling to pass the time. Cons- 1. Walking in, a child had vomited on the floor, it took them 45 MINUTES before it was cleaned up. 2. The champagne was a nice touch before the ceremony, but the ceremony started an hour and fifteen minutes later than it should have because the venue wasn't ready. 3. The courtyard where the ceremony was held, was beautiful, except that 2 of the 4 walls are private apartments. During the ceremony all the guest could hear a blow by blow of a beer pong game going on in one of the apartments. 4. Dinner service was extremely disorganized, we weren't served until 9:30pm and the wedding was over at 10:30pm. Everyone at our table ordered filet minion, medium well. I'm not sure why the server even asked, because everyone's was beyond well done and chewy. There was supposed to be a sorbet in between course that never arrived. Overall, I'd say take your money somewhere else, this place is trying to pass off as high end but just couldn't get it together. read more

I've been to the Vie three times and every time they were great hosts. This is a solid event space for corporate functions. The bars are well tended and stocked. The food is also very good and it raises above the typical banquet fare. They also pulled through when an event had much higher attendance than expected. Other places could have run out of food but the Vie didn't miss a beat. I'm also a fan of the location that is very accessible. The staff has also been great at each event I've attended. read more

I attended 102.9 WMGK's Comfort Food Fest here last night. The venue was really nice, much better than the one this event used to be held in. Better flow and a much bigger bar. The space itself is nice, a typical ballroom but with lots of ... well ... gaudy chandeliers and marble flooring and such. But no matter. I had a great time and ate lots of delicious grub. Cuba Libre had my vote for the best plate but apparently Butcher and Singer won for their duck confit/fois gras pierogie. Good times. read more
