All of our cats have had health issues at various times, with three having chronic health problems (two urinary and one with an extremely rare blood disorder). They had to put down one cat who had cancer; another died under their care because her condition (poisoning) was not treatable. In each case, the vets and staff supported us emotionally through the ordeal. Throughout all our experiences, the responsiveness, care, and service have been exemplary. My only complaints are that they are expensive, the hours are a little limited, and there has been a deal of turnover in the vets.

This is not the first time I've experienced significant delays at this clinic. Additionally, the clinic consistently overcharges for products compared to other places. During my most recent visit, I asked for a prescription for my dog, but the vet declined saying that they can not give me one because this ear infection medication is not sold in human pharmacies, which I believe is not true. (as AVMA's Principles of Veterinary Medical Ethics reg client requesting a prescription) Due to these ongoing issues, I will be taking my dog to another clinic. All the staff who work there are so professional, so caring, so helpful. The doctors never tried to upsell me on treatments or proscribe unnecessary tests. I have always felt they always did what was necessary for his care, which was very important in the last couple of years as his health declined, but were always practical in their approach. They were empathetic, reasonable and professional in every way. She explained the whats and whys and filled in a Canine Dental Chart explaining the problem areas which she gave me a copy of. She also spent time educating me on the Fine Art of Teeth Brushing. Unfortunately Harley had a couple of trouble spots she said should be seen by a vet before she would consider cleaning his teeth. She seemed to know a great many vets and was able to recommend a Dental Veterinarian for my dogs needs. .

I received yet another unwanted call yesterday from the same lady and when I sadly mentioned that services were no longer needed since my dog had recently passed away, she immediately responded: "it was your family's dog wasn't it? DID THEY GET A NEW DOG?" I would like to believe that people are capable of empathy or at the very least, basic human decency but this proves not to be the case for Sparkle Bark.

Dr. Galloway is clearly very knowledgeable, patient and kind to both her furry patients and their owners. She took her time explaining everything and answering my questions and concerns before and after my dogs neutering. The front staff were friendly and accommodating, and the prices are reasonable. I have heard from a few friends that she is very experienced in joint surgeries- and they have had great success with Dr Galloway. I could tell they love pets and they are cheerful and patient. Dr. Bonniere and the male assistant were gentle, patient and kind. They built trust with our puppy, who immediately warmed to them both with licks on their faces and took her vaccinations easily. We will be taking her back regularly! We were referred to a different home doctor but alas, she was away until the following Tuesday which would have been too late. I emailed Susan late one Wednesday night and she got back to me just after 10 pm with some possible dates on Friday and Saturday. From there, we corresponded for three more days through me getting cold feet and changing dates, wanting to cancel all together on and on. She was incredibly patient and flexible through my craziness. She always emailed me back with lengthy thoughtful insights without pressuring us in any way. When the day finally came, she was so gentle and caring for all of us and made the most difficult day of my life so far as calm as possible. If you live in Richmond/Ladner area, she can come for regular vet stuff but she will go further if you need help in putting down your loved one.
