I've eaten there and at catered events and they are organized , neat and the food isn't greasy and old tasting like some other catered events I go to at least twice a week. Was invited as a guest here for a Merrill Lynch Wealth Management dinner party by my Sister. I was told it would be an experience to remember, it actually was! It was like being catered to by a five-star restaurant. The interior is stunning, The tables were set beautiful elegant, Hors d'oeuvres and wine served as we arrived. The theme of the night was food and wine pairing, South of France wine theme. Hosted by a well-known Solminer , she also chose the four courses. Seats were assigned, with name placements. They have quite a few entertainment rooms, My favorite being the mansion like dining area, another room had a tiki hut with decorative items that make you feel like you're on an island, The other area is filled with mounted taxidermy animal , along with natural habitat displays.( not a fan of hunting..) but beautiful. OK let's get a dinner: First course was Panseared scallops with the fennel cream sauce and figs. My taste buds were in heaven haha, I was so delighted with this dish I had to come home the next day and create my own fennel cream sauce and have scallops again! The wine paired with this dish was perfectly balanced brought out the subtleties of the fennel, and wine cuts through the cream perfectly, paired with fresh, perfectly sweet fig. Excellent! Second course was Beef Bourguignon pot pie, was an inside out kind of pot pie served with the crust on top, The crust and the sauce was delicious but I found the meat that little tough. The wine pairing was perfect! Third course was tender roast lamb chops, i'm so critical with lamb chops because the one I make at home is fantastic, I was pleasantly surprised, absolutely delicious! Fantastic dish and wine pairing. Last but not least dessert! Classic Pear clafouti with Chantilly cream, Light, cool, refreshing perfect balance of sweetness and a delicious wine pairing. Overall my experience was fantastic, During dinner the dish was explained by the chef, and the wine Solminer explain the region and a little bit of history on the wines. This was my second Time going to this event it was placed around French , we start it off with the champagne & you also could have wine or beer , Unlimited , also have a cash bar if you would like a mixed drink, So we started off we met Hugh , he is the cofounder hands on owner of this delightful Place. We had the honor of him sitting at our table and shared some really interesting stories about the water and people who've been there and events that had taken place here, OK so I'll get to the food totally Covid friendly table spaced perfectly servers dressed perfectly with double mask gloves and could not be nicer, we start it with a a Charcuterie board , with lovely variety of fresh fruits, jam, Brie, next came our hot appetizer which was in a shot glass beautifully set in French onion soup, very delicious cheese was out of this world so we moved on to our salad which was right out of France dinner table ! Dexter was our server who was a delight, very professional . he always had a smile , explained each course to us. So for the main course was thinly sliced fillet with a course the best fresh homemade french fries with a beautiful light gravy over it me tell you that meat was like butter they give you so much food I'm still full and it's the next day. And of course for dessert we had crème brûlée which was out of this world one of the best I've ever had the crunch was magnificent the flavor the creaminess I don't know I would just come back for that, so you will see from this post lots of pictures of everything I'm not good at explaining it every everything. Just went to a business function for my husbands work and I must say very impressed. Yes it's in a odd location in a warehouse type sketchy area but as soon as you park, very different. They have multiple rooms. Yes they do have a safari type room as the previous person mentioned but I saw it draped for a wedding event and it was completely unnoticeable. If your a PETA admirer, just don't come. I loved it. From the decor to the service and the food was delicious! The event space is rustic and very well decorated. There's a huge kitchen (they also have cooking classes), a full a/v system, and a bar. The food catered at this event was delicious as well. What can we say about Hugh's Catering, their entire team and the incomparable Pam MacEwen that has already been said? From the initial call with Pam, we knew we were in great hands. She made the entire process of planning our menu and fitting to our budget an absolute pleasure. Pam and her team crafted the perfect meal for our wedding. If there was one unanimous comment from all of our guests, it was how delicious the entire meal was - from the spa water at the ceremony, to the champagne welcome, to the sublime hors d'oerves to our sit down, starter salad to the buffet and carving station assembled. Everyone was absolutely perfect. Oh, and we can't forget the Ice Cream Sundae station. Pure perfection. My husband and I were unable to afford a wedding planner for our event and Pam filled that void beautifully. Everything ran smoothly and on time and efficiently. Pam is a superstar. A once in a lifetime master that saves a wedding from ultimate destruction. We couldn't be more vocal in our beliefs that without Pam by our side, we wouldn't have ended up having a wedding. We ordered Thanksgiving for 22 of our guests. Surprisingly Richard apparently is their General Manager personally delivered our feast....right on time. Was I supposed to tip him? We ordered a 20 pound Turkey, Gravy, Corn Bread, Ham, Stuffing both Apple and Plain plus some. The pies seemed home made and heavenly. All the items had re-reheating instructions. The food went over very well with our guests as waves of guests came in and out. Thanks for Hughs for not having to cook. I felt weirdly relaxed and slightly anxious. Hugh's caters my weekly rotary lunch at the First Baptist Church. My diet consists mainly of a vegetarian/ pescatarian diet so one day I asked if it was possible to get a scoop of tuna salad with my vegetarian meals and now they make sure they have tuna for me every week! A professional group I belong to has a quarterly social. We choose a random activity to bond personally. We've done bowling and karaoke but this quarter's activity was a "Cooking Class". Unfortunately, I had a scheduling conflict but at the last minute my plans were changed and someone from our group had to drop out at the last minute so Jeremy and I took his spot. The venue us situated in a warehouse district. There's free parking. A little zen like area at the front. We entered and there was a check in table that we bypassed because our group was already there letting us know where to go and what to do. We immediately got in line for a drink at the bar. Beer and wine was complimentary. Cocktails were $5.00. I opted for a Pinot Noir. There were app stations set up with spring rolls and dumplings. We learned it was "Thai" night. I wasn't crazy about the spring roll and didn't try the dumpling because I wasn't sure if it was pork or not. Jeremy agreed that the spring roll was edible but not great but he enjoyed the dumpling. We sat at our table with our group towards the front. An emcee of sorts was explaining how the night would work and introduced the chefs. It was loud because everyone had their side conversations so it was a little difficult to hear him but I did hear lettuce cup, scallops, and shrimp pad thai. The chef spoke next but I really couldn't hear him at all. They asked for volunteers to come help them plate/serve. So I talked at my table while a few in our group offered to help. The lettuce cup or wrap was filled with chicken and had a great flavor. It was small and left me wanting 5 more! Then the next course was scallops. Again, they had audience members plate/serve. My only criticism was that the food was cold by the time it got to us. However, the scallops were tasty and the sauce they were topped with was fantastic. We indulged in wine and met the owner who was extremely gracious. I grilled him on his fav restaurants in Fort Lauderdale and asked him for his sauce recipe. The next course was shrimp pad thai in a curry sauce. The shrimp was spicy but because I love spicy food I didn't mind. Again, it was cold but I was so hungry I ate the small plate longing for more. The guys at our table were surprised that it was the last course but they did serve a small fried wonton wrapper stuffed with something sweet and topped with chocolate for dessert. A fun time was had by all but it definitely was not the "cooking class" we were expecting. That's not Hugh's fault by any means. If you do attend an event like this at his location just be prepared for small portions and that you may be hungry afterwards but definitely not thirsty!!! read more

We contacted Hugh's Catering sight unseen and food untasted to help us plan the reception following our Father's Memorial service. It has been a very tender time and I promise you --I am not an easy customer to please right now. They absolutely knocked it out of the park. The staff they sent went above and beyond what we could have asked of them. Our guests remarked over and over how delicious the food was, how well it was presented and how attentive, responsive and pro-active the staff were. I believe it was Nathan and the Bond Brothers. Truly-- they made the day easy for us to focus on our family and on celebrating our Dad's life. We found out at near the end of the event that the local friends of our Father's were surprised that we didn't know that Hugh's is the ONLY caterer that locals "in the know" use, so we were especially pleased to have found them by doing research from Los Angeles and discovering that we'd made the right choice! read more

From our very first contact with Alexandra Kamper right through to the very helpful Richard, and staff the evening of our party, everything was handled with the utmost professionalism. Alex helped us with the menu when we had any questions, assisted us with decorations and was always available for any changes we had. The choice of food was perfect for our group and we had many, many compliments on both the very ample appetizer table and also the well-appointed buffet. I recently went to a wedding here the food was very good and the decor in the main room was very nice, BUT if you love animals in any way this is not a place for you. Because it was a wedding I had to hide my discust of the "cocktail hour" in the second room which looks like a jungle with about a hundred dead - stuffed animals and the date they were killed on a plack.... Honestly grotesk and totally uncalled for some of the animals I saw were bobcats, elephant, giraffe, bear, lion, plenty of deer and birds, and that was with keeping my head down and trying to not look at them even though the room is filled with them....Discusted read more

Seated for dinner, salad preset, took a very long time to get dinner out of the kitchen. Servers auctioned the entrees off at the table. Asked me 3 times what my choice for dinner was. Food delivered room temperature to all 8 of us at the table. Watched the female chef making our banana flambé dessert tasting as she prepared it and using the same spoon to stir the dessert. OK, so they do this deal through a "groupon" kinda thing called couptessa. The deal is that you will be learning how to cook specialized dishes in a group of 12-30 people. So my wife thought it might be fun to learn "Spanish" cooking. Well let me tell ya, you get there and there are about 130 people in a huge banquet room looking lost munching on cheesy appetizers. They split you up into three groups...kind of..and let you roam around the kitchens (totally disorganized with no plan of action). There is a main open kitchen (like a set on a cooking show) where a nice Cuban lady (who is very hard to understand) starts "esplaining how joo make de jomeni soup" (Homeni soup) while some Xylophone playing DJ drowns her out with latin music. Yes...really...Xylophone (or estylofone in a Cuban accent). And please don't get me wrong, I do love Cuban culture and have many Cuban buddies..they do have a great sense of humor. Basically, it's like being at a distant cousins wedding! With people you do not know. The location is really great, the place is super cool. However, the "Spanish" food is a mixture of 'Cysco" quality Mexican/Central American food. But there is an open bar so..... If you are interested in learning how to cook, in an intimate setting, it ain't gonna happen here. My husband and I are so glad we chose to work with Hugh's Catering for our February wedding. From the first meeting, Pam was dedicated to make our wedding perfect. She listened to all of our wishes and was extremely flexible in the planning process. Her experience was key in making my husband and I so comfortable and confident in the days before the wedding. On our wedding day, we were amazed at the level of professionalism and attentiveness of every member of the serving and culinary staff. The staff made sure we were well-fed (much appreciated!) and always had water and drinks. The food was absolutely incredible and perfectly cooked. Went to a party here, food was good, service was good, and it's cool to watch the food being prepared. What I was not expecting was the trophy room in the back, with dozens of dead animal heads on the wall. For that reason I will never be back or recommend this place. Hugh's Catering was a life saver to our family. My grandfather passed away over the weekend and they were able to get a reception together with less than 48 hours notice. They were prompt, polite, reasonably priced, and took care of everything. It was so nice to not have to worry about this event on top of planning the funeral arrangements. In my opinion the location is really nice. There are a few different rooms, all very nicely decorated. It would be a great place to have a wedding, or event. The food was ok. There may have been a misunderstanding about what it was we were doing, as we were expecting more cooking demonstration. It seemed like most the food was prepped beforehand, and they just had volunteers come up to plate and serve. There is 0 consistently between plates. I would get a plate drenched in sauce, while my wife would end up with a few drops. I understand you are having people from the tables plate but there should really be a chef checking the plates before they go out. The food came out room temp or cold. And if you are expecting a full several course meal, don't. This was more of a small plates tasting, with a lot of free beer and wine. The staff was nice for the most part but they seemed that they were more interested in hanging out with the friends and family they had there, than serving or checking the food. This was our first time going there but for the lack of service and the meh food it will be very hard to recommend this to friends. read more

Five stars for Hugh's Catering! They are the BEST! Hugh's catered my backyard wedding in December of 2016. The food and service was terrific.. great staff. They certainly are experienced in catering as they were at my home on time handling the set up of the tables, linens, chairs, bar, etc like a precision of military troops. At the end of the night everything was tidy and no trace of a party was left behind. ALSO, the food was excellent from the appetizers to the plated dinner. EXCELLENT! I had a house event with 35 people and from the start of getting a quote to when the event was over, everything was easy and professional. I was given an extensive list of appetizers, salads, main entree and desserts to choose from all fitting within my price range. Alex responded to my emails or calls quickly and followed up with answers if she couldn't give them right away. Max the chef, Matt and Patrick (the Bond Brothers) came and took over quietly and expertly. When they arrived I told them I didn't have anything for the buffet table to make it look nice and they said "not a problem." And they were right, it looked wonderful. They always asked if there was anything else I would like to have done or need. The food and service was top notch. Many of my friends commented how good the food was and enjoyed Matt and Patrick.
