This beach is so beautiful and no they provide you with barbecue pit and there are places for your used charcoal and picnic tables. Lots of parking and if you want to go fishing they have another area in the beach park that is perfect or fishing, they also have barbecue pits set up and some tables. The restrooms are very clean and spacious with faucets in places to wash your feet so you don't bring sand into the restrooms. Also they have drinking fountains to refill bottles with ice cold water. They want you to recycle! They have showers located around the beach and park area. Also they have picnic grounds away from the beach for those you just like to picnic under the trees. While there saw pheasant, quails roaming around the park area.

    Beautiful sunny day on Lanai.........

Just a hop, skip, & jump away from the Manele Small Boat Harbor and you will find this beautiful beach park called - "Hulopo'e Beach Park". Wanna see one of the most unspoiled beaches in the Hawaiian Islands? Then you really need to check out Hulopo'e Beach Park! The sand here is so nice & white......the beach looks so clean, and unspoiled. The beach park is not overly crowded, and there were ample picnic tables & BBQ pits on the park grounds should you choose to have a family picnic here. Parking is easy, as the private parking lot was very spacious. There was also a public restroom, should you need to make a pit stop (like I did), and for a public restroom, I must say the restroom appeared to be well kept. The day I came here, I could see that the ocean was nice & calm, the water was all so clear & blue........as a local boy, these are the days when I have to say - "Lucky Live Hawaii!" Note; while looking around at the park, there was a sign stating that there is NO LIFEGUARD on duty, therefore if you don't know how to swim, please take precautions for yourself before deciding to get into the water!

Gorgeous beach with excellent snorkeling. We went straight out into the bay because the surf was strong on the south side and had a wonderful experience.

Disclaimer: I live on O'ahu and I grew up in San Diego and Guam, so I've lived near beaches all my life, and a beach is a beach to me. *shrugs* (Except secluded or serene beaches; those are my favorite) With that said, Hulopo'e and the island of Lana'i for that matter are good getaways from the urban life, even life on O'ahu or Maui, where Lana'i visitors are likely to originate from. The waves are just right, so keiki (kids) and snorklers can enjoy, but obviously, no surfing. This beach has an expansive picnic area, and restrooms are hard to miss, though the sandy area itself doesn't have much shade. Unless you rent a car, take the shuttle (which I never figured out how to get, though I only stayed on this island for only a few hours before returning to Maui), or rent a 4-wheel drive, your best bet on Lana'i is really this beach. I imagine visitors from colder regions would appreciate this beach and Lana'i much more than someone who's always lived just minutes from any beach haha. Leave all your worries and stresses home when visiting Lana'i!

Sweetheart beach from the four seasons

Beautiful sandy beach with clean facilities. The waves are big, and it was fun to be in the waves. The feet are touching soft sand also. It is not rocky at all. A few locals play with body board, swim and one surfer. Everyone is having a good time. The four seasons hotel is located on the right side, and the sweetheart rock is on the left side, just a small hike away.

Beautiful Family beach right by Four Season's Lana'i Resort. There are tables, showers, public restroom, hoses, and grills. If you walk along towards the left for less than 10minutes, you can see Pu'u Pehe (Sweetheart rock). And if your brave enough you can hike along the ridge to the top. Cool fishing spot with lots of tide pools. I'd definitely recommend this beach as a must see where you can hit all your picture spots and then hang out and surf down at the beach.

    Empty beach anyone?

I mean, who doesn't like a beach where there are dolphins, whales and beautiful sunsets? This beach is a really nice, clean beach located just a hop skip and a jump from the Lanai harbor. What I love most about it: Sweetheart rock and all of it's glory is located just down the way, the harbor (including the Manele Bay General Store) is just down the other way and there is so much room to roam. We had a few hours to burn before we hopped on the boat back to Maui so we hung out at this beach and swam and watched the sunset. There are outdoor showers, bathrooms and picnic tables for use. It's a nice place for locals to hang out with their families and BBQ and fish. There are also quite a few visitors from the Four Seasons so it's sort of a meet-up for everybody! And I saw my first whale of the season here 3 weeks ago! A definite must stop if you are visiting Lanai!

Beautiful beach next to ferry stop. Walk there from ferry station. Some people walk up to 4 seasons hotel for lunch and enjoy beach after. Plenty of parking

The long windy road you take to get down to the beach is totally worth it! We stayed on Lanai for several days and we made two trips down to the beach. We caught the shuttle provided by the hotels. The shuttle brings you down to Four Seasons at Manele Bay. From the front lobby of the hotel you walk towards the back and out the other end. There's a short 10 minute walk to the actual beach. Follow the pathway all the way down. We got to the beach about 930am and it was empty. Beautiful stretch of white sands and crystal clear blue waters. This beach is good for sun bathing, paddle boarding, snorkling, swimming, or just a stroll on the beach. There's a bunch of picnic tables under trees so pack a lunch and enjoy the scenery and cool hawaiian breeze. The bathrooms here took me by surprise. It's super clean, fully stocked with toilet paper, and paper towels, AND they actually have hand soap! (Most beaches where I live on Oahu have no hand soap or paper towels!) Absolutely beautiful! Don't forget your sunscreen! :)

This is definitely one of my favorite beaches in the US. Pods of dolphins jumping around and showing off, plenty of coral and fish to view as you wade and snorkel around, mild waves to relax and float in (even whale watching if you go during the right season). Best of all, not crowded! It even has showers, clean bathrooms, and shaded picnic tables. Don't miss out on the short hike up the cliffs to Sweetheart Rock (Puu Pehe)! The trail is to the left of the beach, past the wading pools. Such a gorgeous view.

    View from the top

This gorgeous beach invites a refreshing swim, a relaxing sun tan, or, the joy of snacking on one of the many picnic tables in the shade. The south side of the bay provides great snorkeling over rocks that are home to many fish and ocean life. If adventure is in your plans, take the fifteen minute walk down the path to sweetheart rock. Simply breathtaking, especially if you decide to add the ten minute hike up to the top of the cliff.

We had the privilege of coming here as part of a snorkeling tour from Maui. The most beautiful beach I have ever seen! We came early on a Thursday morning and has the beach pretty much to ourselves. The waters are a beautiful Aqua color and you can see clearly through the water. There are trees that provide shade, picnic tables, BBQ's. There is also a trail you can take on the right side of the beach where you can walk down into the tide pools. The sand here is super soft and great for those who like to lay out. Plenty of great waves here for all the surfers too! Best beach ever! Must visit while on Lana'i!

    Snorkeling

The best beach we have been to!! My fiancé and I just moved to Maui and decided to head to Lana'i to see what it's all about. We spent the day here at the beach snorkeling and it was absolutely incredible. The most fish and coral we have seen so far. The beach wasn't crowded at all, water was extremely clear, water was very smooth, and it was only a 0.4 mile walk from the ferry terminal. Walking distance to the Four Seasons where we enjoyed lunch as well. Highly recommend to anyone traveling to Maui!!! The ferry ride itself was a whale watching tour. We will definitely be going back

Keahiakawelo (Garden of the Gods) is literally a big rock garden with red dirt and boulders of various sizes. Plus, you can see Moloka'i and Maui in the distance. There is no particular walking path but don't be disrespectful and move rocks around or pile them on top of each other because it is a sacred place. Don't know what happened to the original "Garden of the Gods" stone at the entrance that I have seen on videos and other users' images in the past, but it seems to me that it has since been replaced with a smaller metal sign. Garden of the Gods and all the other attractions along this rocky dirt road are only accessible with a 4-wheel drive (Jeep). I would love to come back to see this incredible location in the near future.

You drive on some serious 4x4 rugged dirt roads to reach it and when you do it's like being transported to another planet. There is red dirt and random boulders everywhere! The area is easily accessible, and there is no climbing or difficult paths. Anyone can go experience the beauty! You get amazing views of several other Hawaiian islands such as Maui and Molokai. You can see the beauty of the Pacific Ocean all around you. The boulders gleam in the morning and evening sunlight and you get some beautiful different iridescent colors. We used a private guide to get there and we were glad we did. Our hotel arranged it for us and we spent a short but perfect amount of time at the Garden of the Gods. I appreciated how the area was so clean and pristine. You can keep traveling farther on the same road and I'm not sure where that leads. When we were there, there was a lot of Vog (volcanic smog) coming from the big island. Because of the vog, we weren't able to see as far as others may be able to on a clear day. We could still see two of the islands. Our guide said on a really clear day you can see Oahu. One Island legend tells us that the rocks and boulders were dropped from the sky by the gods tending their gardens. Another ancient tale explains that the rocks house the spirits of ancient Hawaiian warriors. And still another legend says that the gods enjoyed creating art, and this spot on the island is where they made their favorite sculptures. They created powerful winds to literally sculpt each rock formation (perhaps explaining why there is no vegetation in the Garden of the Gods). This site is located about 7 miles outside of Lanai City. The dirt road is well marked but only a 4-wheel drive vehicle can manage the rutted and rugged trail. If there has been any recent rains, the road if may be closed and unsafe for driving. This road leads all the way to Ka'ena Point and Polihua Beach.

We went online and booked a ferry ride to take us to Lanai. After a quick 45-minute ferry ride, we found ourselves landing on a different island! Lanai is located just nine miles from the west side of Maui and is one of three populated islands that make up the County of Maui: Lanai, Molokai, and Maui. When we docked at the Manele Harbor we got in one of the shuttles that took us to Downtown. The shuttle requires guests to make advance reservations. Yikes! The cost of a rental car can be over $200 per day. We used the shuttle system. It costs $10 per person for the shuttle. Tips are appreciated. $1-2 should be good. It's basically a ride sharing service so it won't just be your private group in the car, you will likely be riding with someone else. The shuttle will basically go anywhere there's a paved road... just so you know many of the sights are on unpaved roads and required some hiking so be prepared. Downtown Lanai is very small. We found shops, art galleries, restaurants, grocery markets and other businesses here (gym, laundromat, movie theater). The size of some of the business structures are no bigger than an average-sized house. The movie theater only showed two films. Currently, Spider-Man and Top Gun: Maverick were showing. Dole Park is in the center of these businesses. Locals here are friendly... we met one guy at Dole Park, Filipino, came to the islands when he was 3. Chatted with us while he ate his lunch. I almost picked up on his Pidgin English. He spoke of changes in the island and said "change is good, eh" referring to the growing tourist business. Originally an island-wide pineapple plantation (nicknamed "The Pineapple Isle") Lanai now is known for its quiet beauty and luxurious five-star resorts. And Oracle co-founder, Larry Ellison doesn't just own a home in Hawaii -- he owns an entire island. In 2012, Ellison bought 98% of the island of Lanai. Happy travels! That's all. Review #2687
