The Friends of the pond organization had reasonably priced gifts, such as magnets and t-shirts. We drove from the visitor's center over to the ponds, but we could have walked. There were a lot of Black-necked stilts (AKA Hawaiian Stilt) and a few other birds, but not many due to the weather. We returned the next day under better weather, first stopping at the Kealia Bird Sanctuary board walk. Again, not many birds, but it was a nice visit. The boardwalk has a couple of spots where you are invited to take a picture from a phone holder and then submit it via email. You will then get a link to a page of time-lapsed photos taken by visitors over the years. It was interesting to see the ebb and flow of the ponds. All in all, a very nice stop with friendly staff at the center.

Mick created a relaxed atmosphere forging some bonds and fun between other people in our group!! He provided general information on Hawaiian history, tips about local towns we passed through, specific info on animals & plant species encountered during our hike including a chance to safely try some fruits & flowers, and safely navigate the rain forest inclusive of some cliff jumps!! Mick took the time and care to learn everyone's names and show interest in each family. I would highly recommend this trip with Hike Maui. It is a top experience to compliment the beach scene! They also offer a custom pickup at your hotel which is a nice touch. And be sure to ask for Mick!!

The hike is short, well-marked, and manageable, but still gives you that lush, tropical Maui feel right away. The waterfalls are beautiful and accessible, with plenty of spots to stop, explore, and even dip your feet in. It never feels too crowded if you go early, and the whole area has a peaceful, relaxing vibe. What we really loved was how family-friendly it is. You still get the full experience of Maui's natural beauty without a long or difficult hike, which makes it a win for everyone. Great way to kick off the journey to Hana and definitely worth the stop.

This was our first stop on the Road to Hana. At first, my wife was a bit skeptical (it had rained a few hours before). However, the parking lot attendants reassured us that it was perfectly safe to proceed. As soon as we began our trek, we were met with lush vegetation, beautiful plants and flowers native to the island, and the sound of birds chirping in the air. The Falls were raging when we arrived and we couldn't help ourselves- we jumped right into the water! Such an awesome experience for my kids! Afterwards, we stopped at a concession stand for some delicious treats and fresh coconut water!

The river down below was very strong and rough I've been here while it was a sunny day and you can actually go down to the river bed . What a sacred place you just feel the power of ancient Hawaiian soldiers fighting in this Valley . When I was a kid that mountain peak called a Iao needle used to have a little hole on top of that peak . Just like a needle point where you thread it through the needle hole. About 20 minutes in you'll be able to see where some trees got burned from the past year Kula fires. Very sad. It's still in its healing process. Makes you wanna hug a tree. Approaching the spring we didn't see any freshwater coming through & Unfortunately got bitten by some nasty mosquitoes so be prepared to apply "off" bug spray. Thank goodness i had purchased Lavender hand wash soap & lotion from Kula Lavender Farms before coming here. Also if you're keen on "eye spy" things including Hawaiian native plants. Then keep your eyes peeled bcuz you can spot edible Pohole (Fern shoots) & Elderberries growing nearby. If you do pick them, clean it off at home. Soak with baking soda & white distilled vinegar. Then rinse & Enjoy!

A beautiful walk to enjoy the Maui coastline, luxury hotels and multi million dollar homes. It is a level paved walkway so it's an easy stroll, brisk walk or run, whatever speed you choose to go, to enjoy the beautiful Wailea coastline. The Kapalua and Ka'anapali beach paths are also equally nice to get your steps in.

This lovely trail to a cross and beyond is shaded most of the way and feels very wild with dense…read morevegetation including huge agave century plants. It does get slippery when wet and is very steep in many places, and quite close to shear cliff drop offs, so good boots are most helpful. Due to daily rains, it was a bit muddy but we were fine with boots on and did make it to the boundary fence which is about 10 minutes past the cross. There is limited parking and watch out for afternoon rains.

You won't be the only one here but it's much less crowded than Makena Beach to the North. We went during "peak" time in late afternoon and at 9 am and both times there were other people there. It's very easy to find, google maps will lead to it accurately. You'll be in a residential neighborhood trying to find a break in the black stone wall but most likely you won't be able to spot it because cars will be around the entrance. The cove you walk into is part of the secret, you can go exploring north and south to find more though the only entrance we could find was through the black stone wall.
