Do you like undersea adventures? Do you like dad jokes? Atlantis submarines is happy to provide both. We took the junior roommates on a submarine tour off the coast of Maui and it was a fantastic experience. I can't even explain all of the sealife we encountered, there was so much. I want to go back

AWESOME! If you see this, GO GO GO! This place is legit, and it is very educational and the team is great. The adventure was so exciting and seeing another world and seeing sharks and fish hunting fish was awesome. JJ made the trip funny and the captains were awesome and I really want to go a second time to see what happens next. Don't be scared, the vessel is sound and the way they get you to it is by boat, and when you are boarding the crew is all around you ensuring you are safe. It is a experience unlike any other.

SUPER fun, saw lots of beautiful fish, rays, a shark and many kinds of coral. The captains were really knowledgeable and funny, they played cool music and overall an awesome experience! Highly recommend!!

Had a great experience in Atlantis Submarines! A unique way to touch the floor of the ocean at 130 Ft below sea level without scuba diving. While you will definitely see a lot more variety of fish while snorkeling instead, this is still a good experience to see the ship wreck and get to the ocean floor. Reduced a star cause of the price point & number of people in the submarine, you are quite squashed together, but everyone has a window or half a window to themselves for a good view.

What a fun experience!!! We booked our tickets via the adventure & experiences concierge at our resort- the Hyatt. The tour starts off in a boat which ferries you from the pier to the submarine. I thought it was really cool how they gave us an opportunity to watch the submarine surface and we waited a very short time for the previous batch of folks to get off the submarine. The submarine trip was a very interesting 45min, filled with amazing things to see underwater, fun narration of exciting facts and jokes. I thought it was great how every seat in the sub had a cool window to look out from...the kids thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was one of the highlights of their Maui trip. I was a little concerned about seasickness , but I was absolutely fine and did not need any medication. Definitely recommend it as a family friendly adventure!

Love this tour!

This is a MUST do when visiting Maui Hawaii. This well organized submarine tour is sooo much fun. Yes and well worth the cost. Kids will be amazed. A beautiful boat ride to the loading area is more like a Lahaina site seeing viewing. Staff/Crew are super professional and marine safety knowledgeable. Underwater is just another experience if you love the ocean, beaches and marine life. Side Note: Boarding and off boarding might be a little difficult for seniors and little children. Something to consider but staff crew can advise.

The entire experience at Atlantis Submarines was out of this world. Cat, who checked us in, was clear with instructions and full of energy. Randy, our narrator, was funny and a delight. His stories and clever puns made the bottom of the ocean exciting and something to remember. The submarine has extra large portholes that make it extremely easy to see and photograph the scenery. We didn't go during "whale season" but we did see sharks and plenty of colorful fish. We will be back again to see the whales.

This was a great experience! To get in a submarine recreationally and checkout the bottom of the ocean without having to train for scuba diving is a great opportunity. The crew had a great sense of humor, and the playlist was spot on! I highly recommend this experience! It's very cool, you get to take so many pictures, and you never know what you'll see down there! We ended up seeing a shark at the bottom of the ocean!

Wonderfully magical experience. Way better than the Finding Nemo ride at Disneyland. Friendly staff and informative guides. You take a 10 minute boat ride from the wharf to the submarine, which gives a beautiful view of the island. The submarine wasn't overly crowded first ride of the day, and we were able to spread out a bit. The sub captain turns it around to make sure both sides can see points of interest, nobody misses out. We saw several resting sharks 10/10

What a great activity in Maui! First time on a working submarine and it was so fun! Saw a ray, a shark, all kinds of fishes, oh and a sunken ship!!! The staff were all great and friendly and very responsive on emails. Great day!

How freaking cool was this experience?! I highly recommend taking this tour on the submarine. The guide was really nice and told dad jokes the entire experience. They're really knowledgeable and the price is well worth the experience! We saw tons of fish, about 8 blacktip reefsharks, several spotted eagle rays, and a really cool sunken ship. The views of Maui were incredible and when else can you go to the bottom of the ocean, 130 ft down?

Awesome experience! Felt totally comfortable. They were very accommodating and knowledgeable! Loved seeing the underwater stuff! Amazing experience

Sarah M.

This was such a fun experience! Our guide Brandon and Captain Ken were so knowledgeable and very funny. We saw a ton of wildlife including a shark, an Eagle Ray, starfish, and a bunch of different species of fish. Brandon told us about each species we saw and was just as excited as we all were. I can't wait to do this again!

Do you still require masks?

Aloha Erica! Atlantis no longer requires masks aboard our tours based on a recent change in Coast Guard regulations. Mahalo.

I have a photo but can't attach to answer. Will try to post in general photos. It's a straight up and down ladder. We had my husband go first then the kids.

No, children have to be at least 3 feet tall.

Is it safe for pregnant women to ride the submarine?

As long as you aren't so pregnant you can't walk down narrow stairs, you'll be fine. The sub is pressurized.

Are toddlers free? I have a 1 year old

Hi Nancy, While we don't have a minimum age for our submarine tour, we only allow children who are 36" and above, as they need to descend a near vertical ladder on their own…

Is there a restroom in case my daughter has to go?

There is not a restroom on the boat or the submarine so the crew recommends going before. There is a location near the slip.

Are there any age limitations for the free child offer? I purchased 2 adult tickets. My 6 year old son is good to go?

Aloha, The latest free child offer applies to children who are at least 36" in height to age 12. So your 6 year old child will have a complimentary ticket. To enjoy our tour,…

We've sailed with Sea Maui 8 or 9 times on their Sunset Dinner, Sunset Cocktail and Whale watching…read morecruises. For us, we prefer the Sunset Cocktail cruise as it's the perfect amount of food and drinks. This last trip, we took the whole family for the express snorkel trip. It's a shorter trip, which worked perfectly for the younger kids and didn't tie up a big amount of island time. Captain Nick and his crew was all about making sure all had a great time while keeping safety at the top of mind. They guaranteed we'd see turtles... we did! Immediately. I accused them of being remote controlled because they were there right on cue! I'm not a big snorkel guy, but I had a blast. We'll keep returning to Sea Maui. Greatest crew on Maui !!

On our vacation to Maui last week, we took trips out to the sea with Sea Maui twice. Our first trip…read moreout was an adults-only family excursion while the kids hung out with their grandma and auntie. The catamaran was pretty sweet, with some really comfy bean bags overlooking the edge out to the ocean. While we did occasionally get splashed in this area, it was worth the unobstructed view of the sunset and the breeze in my hair. The crew was especially sweet and treated all of us like absolute royalty. A note to those who are prone to motion sickness: do not try to be brave and only wear sea bands thinking you'll be okay. Take your Dramamine an hour before you board the catamaran. While the first half of our dinner cruise was fine with my motion sickness, the second half of the trip left me feeling really queasy around dinner service time. This made me very sad. This was no fault of the crew, and 100% my fault for thinking I could tough it out. If you are ill-prepared, the crew has ginger ale, club soda and ginger chews to help. Speaking of dinner, the few bites I was able to eat on our first trip were fantastic: a full dinner buffet prepared by Cafe Jai. The salmon was perfectly tender, as was the short rib. The caesar salad was just the right amount of tangy (and the extra dressing was really great on the salmon as well.) I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on the crispy seasoned potatoes but they were absolutely delightful. And of course, the crown on top of a delicious meal was the mini brownie cup we were served for dessert before we wrapped up the trip. Our second trip (where I was prepared with some Dramamine) was a memorial for our grandparents, where we released their cremains at sea with eco-urns. I must say that the crew handled everything wonderfully. We had the full bar, another beautiful buffet spread including some delicious crispy chicken, a pesto pasta salad, pulled beef sliders, and rolls. After we said our emotional goodbyes, we were given rose petals to release into the ocean. We even received certificates after the trip that gave us the coordinates of where my grandparents cremains were released. I seriously cannot thank Sea Maui enough for giving my family a truly memorable experience on our trip to Maui. They made our trip so special. A million thanks for the kindness!

They had bottles of water and snacks for our convenience if we didnt bring anything else. We were welcome to bring our own snacks and drinks as long as it wasn't in a glass container or alcohol since this is a family friendly activity. I never realized that snorkeling makes you hungry. But they had chips, so that helped a lot. Our first stop was Manele Bay. I told them I know how to swim but I wasn't comfortable without a floatation device over the reef because I didn't want to accidentally damage the reef. It was so beautiful and it changed my life, so much so that I'm adding snorkeling to my list of hobbies. Our second stop was Mala Ramp. Got to see turtles, white tip sharks, and fish that I normally see behind glass. We even had a dolphin pod following us. It was magical!! During this snorkel trip I learned that Captain Reece goes on research trips to study whale migration and habits. Capt. Reece also studies coral and does coral restoration here on Maui. Captain Manu was a volunteer at some of the lahaina distribution hubs after the fires and helped other survivors get back on their feet. I also learned that Capt Manu has been working on boats for over 15 years. So yes, the crew has a lot of experience.
