Even though there were a lot of people there, it was really relaxing just to walk around in my own little world. There was a nice breeze blowing this morning, so it felt really good just to get out of the house walk past the dog park. It was super cute, I just had a nice relaxing morning walking around seeing the sites and people watching. I totally need to do this more after I get my nails done.

We love to bring our kids here to explore, ride bikes & feed the ducks & geese (we bought a 50lb bag of cracked corn from Tractor Supply for like $18 & keep it in the back of our van.) They are super friendly & will eat out of our kids hands. We accidentally came here yesterday during the Water Lantern Festival & it was insane how many people & food trucks were there. *Tip If you plan on coming for than a few time during the year but the annual parking pass from the electronic kiosks around the park for $50 (it's good for parking at all city parks & The Fresno Zoo as well but it's only good for one cars license plate.

However... my oldest son was diagnosed with mild to moderate Autism in March this year. He was referred to CVRC by his pediatrician in October 2018, I believe. I kept following up weekly with them until November, when I called to check in and they said they lost his initial paperwork. That has been the only negative I have experienced. I redid the phone interview, and by Christmas Eve I received a phone call that he had been accepted to the next stage, an in person assessment. That was scheduled in February. They called us with a cancellation, so we got in even sooner. The assessor observed our son, played with him, and asked us many questions. When we were done, they scheduled the second assessment with the psychologist at that appointment. We went back for the psychologist's assessment. About a week after we left I called to check in again (I can't stress enough that you should check in with them weekly for progress on your child's diagnosis), I inquired when we would have an official diagnosis because we had some time constraints, as he was going to have his first IEP meeting and we wanted someone to go with us from CVRC. Within a couple days they called me with his diagnosis and stated that someone had been officially assigned our case. Our case worker is great and very helpful. She always responds quickly to my phone calls usually within the same day if I call early, or by next day if I call late. So it was a rigamarole to get the actual diagnosis, but I feel because I stayed on top of it and kept calling, that we got through quickly to where we are now. Our son is currently going to special education preschool, and we are applying him for Medi-Cal with CVRC's help as our insurance does not cover any Autism treatment (even occupational therapy). I couldn't be happier with our outcome or the treatment we have received.

I was patient with them and after about a year going through the process they denied him. He has difficulty communicating and still has potty accidents. We had 2 psych evals that were not even done at their facility. The staff doctor never even met my son. They just go off of notes from a doctor that they sent us to. Before my wife died from cancer I promised her I would get help for my son and I came to these people for help. I believe many mistakes were made here. But people like me needing help I guess have no choice but to go here, but end up with zero. Thanks for nothing.

We taught law to the students so they had a the knowledge necessary to face situations they my face when making decisions or coming into contact with law enforcement. We also poured into the kids good advice and gave them hope. My mentee wrote and gave a speech at the end of the classes which was a major positive impact in the young man life. I recommend you donate your time to this place or just ask how can I help. I myself was a troubled youth and had interesting talks with upper management about how their troubled youth made it hard for them to get places in life and they were curios how my goals would be effected as well. I'd like to say I made it to the Department of Homeland Security and not only held a security clearance, but set records in my area. So never give up on your dreams of rising out of a troubled time in life.
