Light the night event at Woodward

Great for events of all kinds, good for walks with family and friends. There are dog parks and restrooms. There are walking trails and party spots with tables and bbq pits. Go to the website to book a spot for your next upcoming event. I attended light the night festival with my father and it was such a beautiful event. I really appreciate having a park as beautiful as this in our town.

Such a great park to relax and walk! It is massive and has huge lakes. So many ducks of different variety and geese. Some were sleeping and lazing around. Others were eating crumbs that people were throwing to them. So fun to see!

Great place for a run. It can get busy in the mornings on the weekend. Across from here is a neat shopping center with food, drinks, and a running shop for all your needs.

Wow, this park is dry, but at least it's hard to lose a disc here! When you enter Woodward park follow the signage and you'll that this course is right in the center of the park. I came here to play frisbee golf was pleasantly surprised with the signage and basket care. All of the baskets looked practically new and the each tee pad sign had clips to mark what baskets were being used that day. A few of signs were a little off on the exact location of the baskets, but it was still fun day. All of the holes are a par three and each hole is relatively short. So you can easily breeze through course within an hour and a half to two-hours. This might be the only disc golf course in Fresno sadly, but it's still a solid course.

Best park in our city! Our dogs and I love the river trails. Beautiful and tranquil place.

Visiting the area, I road my road bike around to check this place out. Lots of hiking trails; some dirt...you can go for miles! Small ponds & lakes too. There are grills and covered picnic areas to avoid the sun when it's too sunny. I saw a BMX area and small amphitheater. There were lots of people kicking a soccer ball around, jogging, throwing a frisbee, hiking, fishing, etc. Needless to say, this is a pretty nice park. But I suspect on really nice days, getting the picnic location you want and the parking, might be a problem if you don't show extremely early. I saw some gates that were up at some unmanned toll booths...so I don't know if there's a fee to get in or not during their peak season.

Lovely hiking trails, and there is a restroom although it could be a bit tidier. $5 to park. I would have stayed longer, but I was having a bit of a dog panic day and there were so many dogs, some not on leashes, and that was too much for me.

Taking a stroll through the place!

Woodward Park is the most beautiful park we have in the area. It's the perfect place to go hang out for a picnic, have a kids birthday party, or have a family reunion. Whatever the case may be Im sure you will enjoy this place. Many people walk the trail or ride their bike or take a run. There are a few places where the kids can play on the bars or climb a wall... just so much to do. One of the things I love to do with my friends and family is go to concerts in the Amphitheater during summer evenings. I have seen so many people take their engagement pictures, Quinceanera pictures etc. The place is so very well taken care of the grass is always green and the flowers are always blooming. You do have to pay for entrance... I believe it is 5 dollars but not a big deal. Check it out for yourself!

A must visit in town. Huge expansive park with many different areas. Good walking trails up and down overlooking the vistas.

80% of the park is dead grass or dirt. I'm not sure what happened but huge stretches are now unusable.

Ask the Community - Woodward Park

Can you swim in the river? At Woodward park

There's no river access at Woodward Park.

For the entry fee, do they take card or is it only cash?

    Both

Is it still open due to covid 19?

    Yes went there today 7/20

In town for a couple days. Does this park charge to use their disc golf course?

Not really sure, but am guessing you have to at least pay the cur-sed $5.00 admission.

I'm in town for work for a couple of days. Is this a good place to bass fish?

    I don't think so.

I am not working and very very broke. And stressed out. Would love to spend some time at the park and draw. Any times I can get in without a fee? Even 5 dollars is too much for me.

I know it's possible to park on the outside and walk in. Maybe try the far end south and north sides? I understand the fee being a lot and agree that everyone should have access. If you walk in you're not parking on their grounds.

So what time this place stops charging?

I went as late as 5 and they were still charging

If you haven't stopped by this park before, please note that parking fills up fast-especially on weekends and holidays-but it is worth it. Nestled in a residential area of central north Fresno, this park has something for everyone. If you want to throw a party, there is a sheltered picnic area that you can use. I highly recommend that you reserve the space through the City of Fresno, as it is often booked. There is an ADA accessible path, a water feature that meanders through the grounds and can be very refreshing in the hot Fresno summer. There is a sand play area, swings, see saw, climbing structure and a lovely park path that overlooks a ponding basin filled with fish, turtles and water birds. This particular basin has a small island with large trees that are often filled with white cranes and other birds. The park grounds offer quiet benches under shade trees to sit for a while, grassy gently sloping lawns that are great for frisbee or other family activities. This is also an amazing place to find a ton of baby geese in the spring....super cute! I've seen folks relaxing and flying kites here....playing ball, and just enjoying being off screen and outdoors. Check it out, if you haven't already!

It was always a great way to spend some outdoor time and get fresh air. The new building in the botanical garden is incredible and 100% community funded! That means the volunteers and donors of this space fully own everything! With zero government red tape, they're able to fast track art events, adult ED classes, garden parties, and create jobs for the community. The new building is beautiful and comes with a small gift shop, selling local artist pieces, indoor meeting/recreation area, and an shaded outdoor patio. The patio is public and available for anybody who is walking the trail. We actually ate our lunch here, before walking the botanical garden trail for a nature scavenger hunt.
