    cold custard on crumble!
    Martin M.

A great place to get a quick crumble in London. We went here for dessert and the dish was hot and sweet. The combination of hot custard and hot pie was so good, yet a bit heavy. Service was also very nice and helpful in explaining all that goes into the dish. I'm sure everyone visiting the stall was a tourist because the staff took the time to explain the dish with everyone who walked up. Definitely worth a stop when checking out the Borough Market!

This is definitely one of the popular stalls within Old Spitalfields Market. There was a line of at least 5 people when I walked towards it. To order, you choose a fruit as the base, then the crumble, and lastly a topping. I chose apples, shortbread crumble, vanilla custard and chopped hazelnuts. This is definitely a treat to try if you're in the area. It has a unique texture of soft fruits, hard shortbread mixed with very warm custard. I didn't mind it but I will say my combination was not sweet at all. I would've preferred if maybe the custard had more vanilla flavoring or perhaps sugar but I didn't miss out on that too much. I would def recommend trying. I ordered the regular size and it was enough for trying for the first time without having too much.

Had to stop here twice while visiting London cause it was just that good! Love this concept. I had the apple cinnamon with short bread crumble and warm custard. That warm custard on a cold evening is like a hug The ladies that prepare the desserts were all smiles both times I went super nice. We were able to find a bench to sit at and enjoy.

I don't understand the hype. It's alright nothing that great. The crumbles are very very crunchy I was expecting a more gram cracker vibes but it's like more of a toffee feel which is weird. The custard is the best part and it was very quick to come out.

Decided to try this place after seeing so much hype online and was disappointed. It's pretty much your basic crumble. I ordered the apple topped with shortbread and custard, and it wasn't worth the 20-minute wait to order. Save your money and time and try another one of the treats available at Old Spitalfields Market.

Apple hot custard 6.12/10- this is incredibly popular and I've been waiting to try this but it had too many things happening all at once. It tastes like warm bread pudding mixed with broken up apple pie and hot custard but not in a great way. Very creamy but a bit too sweet. A1 presentation though

The custard and shortbread were delicious but I got hot apple at the bottom and it didn't really have any flavor. It was an okay sweet snack.

Interesting sweets in my opinion but i am not really a fan of sweets. But it would be awesome for those who like sweets. Recommended to try and maybe i would come back again to try its other menu since it is interesting even though i am not a sweet person.

Great if you don't sub for dairy-free. Can't believe they gave a paying customer this.

We opted to share the fan favorite and honestly I can't imagine having one entirely to myself. It was tasty but also very sweet. The chill in the air does hit right with the warm dessert. It makes sense they are batching so many things, but watching the process of them being made did impact some of the magic of the crumble. Scoops of food being plopped on which warrants the tray as this was a tad bit messy, but overall I'm glad we tried it and you probably should try it at least once.

I think it would have been nice from a customer service standpoint to maybe have some sort of interaction but that is maybe just picky. The item we ordered was the fan favorite-apple and cinnamon with salted caramel custard. It was warm and delicious. One other thing was there was no trash can and a sign directing you to the nearest bin down the street. That could easily be rectified since the entire process is takeaway.

But inside this shop is an experience all its own. Those of us well into our adult years will still get that proverbial "kid in a candy store" sense when walking into a place like this. The immediate reaction is "I'll take one of everything". The number of choices and sheer number of chocolates displayed in a confined space are both exhilarating and overwhelming at the same time. It was clear from the choices that this was a true artisan shop. In an act of fiscal and dietary restraint, we took away a half-dozen pieces. My wife always compares chocolatiers using their Chocolate Orange Peels (Chocolate Orangettes is what they called them at this place) as a benchmark. This place passed with flying colors. They also offered an intriguing Mango-infused Dark Chocolate with a pipet of Mango compote that you could inject before eating. It was also a highlight. The prices are fair for what this place is and the service is friendly, polite and efficient. If you are meandering up and down Brick Lane, this establishment is worth a stop. If you are a Chocolate fan, then this place is a must-stop. I guess there are people out there who are not chocolate lovers (or at least likers), but that is like not being a fan of oxygen from my perspective. I would like to stop again sometime to try one of the chocolate drinks. We opted to not get one this time on top of the candy pieces we bought to avoid the sugar overload. But they looked amazing from what I saw of others who did indulge.

They had a lot of different types of truffles which looked more simple compared to the fancy chocolate pieces that had little pipettes with flavored purée (which as raspberry & mango). It is strictly takeaway as there is really no place to sit and eat. The small shop is very straightforward with just a deli-like counter from which to see the goods and order. We were there on a very busy Saturday morning. We queued up in a line of people that extended out the door. They were pretty good about keeping the line moving, however, and we placed our order within 6 or 7 minutes of joining the queue. My wife had a Peanut Butter-Filled Plain Bagel, which she liked quite a lot. I had Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese on an Everything Bagel. It was very good. The service was very efficient and reasonably pleasant and the prices were quite fair. We will go back if we ever have the chance to do so in the future.

Ordered : Salt beef bagel- bagel warm, generous amounts of salt beef, mustard, and sliced pickles. The bagel was over slathered with a horseradish mustard, so much, that it overpowered the taste of the beef. Smoked salmon bagel without cream cheese- underwhelming. Bagel was cold and hard. I did not eat the top half of the bagel. Minimal amount of smoked salmon. The girl behind the counter looked like she could care less to be there and wasn't super friendly or helpful.
