The grounds were picturesque, the photographer kept remarking how easy his job was with the lovely background. The cocktail hour was held in the newly renovated barn space and was a hit. We used the space both to serve refreshments and as a dance floor. Having everything on site made the planning and execution easy. The event space has the added benefit of the ability to host guests on-site. My family traveled from China and despite coming from a big city, they felt at ease in this rural, upstate New York farm house. It was exceptionally clean, the fridge and stove are brand new, and there is plenty of space in this sweeping home. A great venue, I can't recommend enough!

There are even outlets on both sides of the bed (useful for cpap machines!). We had tons of pillows, soft blankets, both heating and cooling in the room, bottles of water, a Keurig in the hallway for tea and coffee, honestly everything I could have hoped for. Breakfast is a cold continental-style but I was impressed with it. I had bagels and cream cheese with fresh berries and a lovely cup of coffee. There were so many choices! They have cereal, yogurt, and even dairy-free milk available. The kitchen cabinets and drawers are clearly labeled so it's easy to find utensils and plates. The hosts thought of everything! The house is located along a fairly busy road so you can hear the traffic out on the porch (personally I find it a calming sound). There are approximately a million very loud bugs outdoors at nighttime due to the proximity to the forest. The windows are great and I could hardly hear any of that from inside - just peace and quiet. Bonus - the location is just a few minutes from the state park with lovely waterfalls and a few minutes the other direction from several cute restaurants in the town. Summary - I loved everything about my stay here and would very happily stay again.

The inn keepers, Bea and Sterling, were gracious, friendly, funny, very knowledgeable about the area, and extremely helpful. Breakfast each morning was served at 9:00--juice, fruit bowl, coffee, fresh muffins/banana bread/blueberry scones, and a delicious entree such as oven baked french toast with apples and nuts/crepes with strawberries/yogurt fruit parfait, served in the main house in a lovely bright eating area with a beautiful view of the well kept lawn (recently, a doe and her two fawns walked right by the large windows). The location is about 15 minutes from Ithaca (great restaurants/Taughannock Falls, farmers market), about 25 minutes from Watkins Glen (falls, boat cruise on Lake Seneca), and about an hour from Corning (Corning Glass Museum). We also were very close to and rode through some beautiful wine country and had lunch one afternoon at the Thirsty Owl Winery and Bistro--amazing. If you are expecting a sterotypical B&B, this might not be your cup of tea, but we loved it. It was clean, comfortable, quiet, and homey. I herewith quote Sterling (the owner): "We are not quaint, charming, or historical," but I have to disagree--it was quaint and charming and we did get a lot of historical information from the owners. I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed. Great place to stay if your children are students at Cornell or Ithaca. They also have single rooms in the main house.

I've been to B&Bs before and I can assure you this is not what you expect from a Bed & Breakfast…read more First of all, the "decor" is stuck in 1980. There is nothing warm or inviting about it. You walk into an outdated paneled kitchen and living room and you immediately feel like you are in someone's home. It is not a welcomed feeling. There were no snacks offered, limited drinks (only pre-sweetened iced tea) and the breakfast was just acceptable at best (one pancake rolled up with jam inside). The bedrooms are upstairs (again - dark paneling) and it feels more like a rooming house than a B&B. The separate "cottage" is actually a mobile home unit. The "jacuzzi" is a very small, portable soft sided hot tub. I can't imagine how the other reviewer used her laptop because we had absolutely no service on our computer or I-phone. Nothing quaint or cozy anywhere - my suggestion is to spend a little more and stay elsewhere.

It is in desperate need of area rugs, more furniture, wall decor, flowers... anything to add warmth. The room in which we stayed had a comfortable bed and huge bathroom. Both very clean. However, staying at more B & B's than we can count, we were disappointed with the following: 1- A HUGE black plastic bag covered the waste can in our bathroom. I know that sounds petty, but we're in a B & B...not a Motel 6. There was no floor mat when exiting the shower so egress was onto the linoleum. 2- The windows were not only painted shut, but nailed shut. So, no fresh air. (Kris did provide a fan for our use). Most importantly there was no speedy escape route if there was (God forbid) a fire outside in the hall. (Fellow guess we met at breakfasts verbalized the same concern(s). 3- Breakfast was quite disappointing. Scrambled eggs, hash browns and Canadian bacon. All served in chafing dishes in the new, large kitchen. Again... this is fine, however, in a B & B, the breakfast is usually a looked forward to 'event'. Numerous boxes of Entemann's pastries were also available. Plastic utensils were set out, along with plastic cups for juice. Even though there was real silverware, glasses, etc., plastic was set out. Serving ourselves was perfectly fine, there was just no attention to detail. Large containers of sugar, powdered cream, etc., were set on the counters instead of lovely servers. It's the little things that make a B & B. So, all that being said we will not return. Although it is clean, right next to the lovely falls and within minutes of Watkins Glen.
