Breakfast offerings change daily and she uses the freshest ingredients; I'm super picky and every option sounded scrumptious. It was hard to choose just one! HIGHLY recommend the Gazebo room; it is a standalone room situated towards the back of the property and is very private and romantic. The decor is simple, yet elegant. It includes an oversized jet tub, spacious bedroom and bathroom and mini fridge. There is also a fireplace in the room and is stocked with lavender toiletries. My boyfriend and I appreciated the attention to detail in this room. We will absolutely be back! Madeline and Ken were happy to recommend activities and restaurants as well. There is a lot to do in the area and I cannot wait to visit in the fall. Parking off-street, wi-fi, delicious cookies and juice served in the evenings, beautiful grounds and the list goes on. However, if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, warm, romantic place to stay-you will feel yourself home. And her awesome family style breakfast on a lovely patio with astonishing views of the Lake will make your stay even more romantic. Over 24 hours after our arrival, we still had not been provided with a garbage bag or can. When we complained to Diane about the service and accommodations she said "you should be grateful for the gift you received". She also asked us if we'd like to just leave, without a refund. We told her we would be staying, that we were still unhappy, and that we still needed that garbage bag. She also told us that we would need to clean the kitchen before we left, the kitchen that was dirty when we arrived. I let her know that all of the dishes had been present upon arrival. She had the nerve to call the kitchen "well used" in her review of us. That kitchen was dirty, but it was in that state when we arrived and I would be leaving it as I had found it. We ate every meal out, nothing was prepared in that kitchen. As the weekend went on, we were in need of additional toilet paper. Cumulatively, we had received 1 roll for 5 women, with a Friday through Monday stay. I sent Diane a message requesting toilet paper at 9AM and again at 3:45PM. Sometime after 4PM she replied, letting us know that additional toilet paper could be found in the room connected to the first small room. We used a butterknife to pop the eye and hook lock on that door, as this is the door that only locked from the outside and we didn't have access to. On our last evening there, we returned to the Villa around 10PM. Upon entering, the smell of dirty dog was pungent. No dogs had been seen. We made our way to bed. At 3AM we were woken up by the sounds of the voices of other guests. These guests were utilizing the common room located just outside our divider, they were also using every single light in the room. Much to my dismay, my shutter door doesn't really block light or sound, so I laid awake in my bed made of wicker. The guests returned to their rooms around 4:30AM. At 6AM we were woken up again, this time by the barks of the dirty dog in the room at the end of the hall. In summary, we were duped. We spent $1,750 for 3-nights at this location. $250 of that was a cleaning fee, something surely not happening at the Cayuga Lake Inn. We were treated like garbage and made to feel unwelcome. I will never recommend this location to a single person I know. I have no doubts that this used to be a beautiful location, but it is horribly maintained. Diane's knick-knacks and open books line every surface in the rooms. You can write messages in the layers of dust on the tables. If you're reading this Diane, your common room table says "Hi, Diane!" I'd love for you to go check. Wipe it while you're there, you can use the paper towels we brought from home. Stay away from the Cayuga Lake Inn. Beware of outdated positive reviews. There is no one working at this location except Diane, and she sucks.

Breakfast each morning was served at 9:00--juice, fruit bowl, coffee, fresh muffins/banana bread/blueberry scones, and a delicious entree such as oven baked french toast with apples and nuts/crepes with strawberries/yogurt fruit parfait, served in the main house in a lovely bright eating area with a beautiful view of the well kept lawn (recently, a doe and her two fawns walked right by the large windows). The location is about 15 minutes from Ithaca (great restaurants/Taughannock Falls, farmers market), about 25 minutes from Watkins Glen (falls, boat cruise on Lake Seneca), and about an hour from Corning (Corning Glass Museum). We also were very close to and rode through some beautiful wine country and had lunch one afternoon at the Thirsty Owl Winery and Bistro--amazing. If you are expecting a sterotypical B&B, this might not be your cup of tea, but we loved it. It was clean, comfortable, quiet, and homey. I herewith quote Sterling (the owner): "We are not quaint, charming, or historical," but I have to disagree--it was quaint and charming and we did get a lot of historical information from the owners. I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed. Great place to stay if your children are students at Cornell or Ithaca. They also have single rooms in the main house.

I've been to B&Bs before and I can assure you this is not what you expect from a Bed & Breakfast…read more First of all, the "decor" is stuck in 1980. There is nothing warm or inviting about it. You walk into an outdated paneled kitchen and living room and you immediately feel like you are in someone's home. It is not a welcomed feeling. There were no snacks offered, limited drinks (only pre-sweetened iced tea) and the breakfast was just acceptable at best (one pancake rolled up with jam inside). The bedrooms are upstairs (again - dark paneling) and it feels more like a rooming house than a B&B. The separate "cottage" is actually a mobile home unit. The "jacuzzi" is a very small, portable soft sided hot tub. I can't imagine how the other reviewer used her laptop because we had absolutely no service on our computer or I-phone. Nothing quaint or cozy anywhere - my suggestion is to spend a little more and stay elsewhere.
