I am a HUGE cookie skillet/blondie/brookie-lover, and I will not only go to the ends of the earth to have one, but I will fight you for it too. So, when I was told to come here by a Melbourne food blogger for this alone, I basically ran. The first thing you notice when coming here is that there will be a very large line. A bit of a bummer at first glance, but it was a relatively short wait (25 minutes) considering, and definitely worth it. They even post a menu outside so you can determine what you might want to order once you get seated, which is very helpful since you will likely become famished from the idea of eating and seeing the dishes brought out to the outdoor diners. Once inside, we split the Egg Whites and Bacon as well as the Crab Omelette, and I was amazed at how generous the portions were. I am so used to hearing that America has massive portions that I didn't expect the same here, so bring your appetite. Both dishes were superbly cooked and incredibly flavorful. I definitely overate, but I did not regret it one bit. The crab omelette is definitely a best seller, but I'd say the Egg Whites and Bacon, whilst simple sounding, we're equally flavorful and filling, but on the healthier side. This was key for what was to come. Now onto the Skookie.....you could have slapped me silly and called me Sally the whole time, and the only thing I'd have noticed was this Skookie!! Baked perfectly in the skillet and then topped with baked, melted marshmallow, fudge, Oreo crumbles, and ice cream....the day they invent a "skinny pill" is the day I will come here to eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is a must visit....I will be back!! Many times over, so please never run out of Skookies....

Humble Rays is a beautiful fresh well lit space. Its logic with an egg in a coffee cup with sun Ray's coming out of it speaks to all things I love: poached eggs, good coffee and warmth. Humble Ray's lived to all three standards. The tables are white with specks of blue. One wall is covered in some free style modern painting. The exposed kitchen is full of young asian women which explains why so many of the dishes have chilli in them and a smorgasbord of asian flavors. As I waited for my friend, the waiter crooned to the latest pop hits making me smile. Coddwea come in two sizes and you even have the option for some creative lattes like hojicha, turmeric and matcha latte. 8 stuck to their single origin akin mocha which was creamy chocolatey with the right strength of caffeine. For our brekkie there were just so many savoury options as well as a large range of sweet options at the back. But we stuck to eggs benny. One beautiful poached egg doused in hollandaise surrounded by some greens with some crispy meaty pork ribs and lots and lots of crunchy brioche crumbs and of course a deliciously flavoured potato croquette. There was this really strong spice that was apparent in each morsel. I couldn't quite place it. A combaintion of pepper aniseed and perhaps star anise. Very different but yum. They fo split bills but only if you pay cash. Very attentive service. We were asked twice if we were ok. Lots of free parking on weekends on the street Cant wait to go back. Yum

I figured I had to go to at least one good brunch spot while I was in Melbourne. That place turned out to be Humble Rays. We dropped in on a Saturday morning (around 10:30am). Busy but at least there was no line yet. An hour later, there was one out the door. Service here is impressively good. A group of 9 beside us got all their drinks served simultaneously. We got our food quickly and water was constantly filled. The menu is small but it's all day brunch. (savoury, sweet and drinks). You pay at the front counter after you finish eating. - French toast forever ($19.00 AUD) - vanilla bean cream cheese stuffed French toast, Boysenberry ice cream, seasonal fruits, Persian fairy floss, walnut & almond oat crumble and seasonal coulis. This plate was rich, heavenly and decadent. Loved the mix of cherries, kiwi, strawberries, banana, necatarine. The French toast was perfect. The ice cream and fairy floss (cotton candy) adds to the decadence. This is great to share. - Crab meat scramble ($18.50 AUD) - with Asian herbs, fried shallot, Sriracha mayo, red chili and chili oil served on a croissant. Good heat from the chili peppers and the sriracha mayo sauce. Very tasty although again, better if you share. - Salmon super salad ($19.50 AUD) - grilled cured salmon, quinoa & edamame salad, sweet corn, almonds, broccolini, medley tomato, shaved zucchini, citrus dill vinaigrette, green tea furikake, sweet potato & cashew relish and almonds & cashew dukkah. That's a lot of things in one dish. Looked pretty good and must have been because B's friend ordered this twice in a week. Lives up to the hype! You get the best of both worlds; regular brunch mixed with a twist of Asian flavours. Go early to miss the line.

Nice vibe, great friendly staff! Excellent food and fresh juice! Me being a sucker for French Toast, had to go with the French Toast Forever. The amount of fruit and other goodies (such as ice cream) that came with it made every bite as good or better than the last. I also had the Sunny Side Up juice which was great! Definitely worth a stop in.

Came here for an excellent brunch on Saturday. The restaurant has a very cute interior. We were a big group and the still could accommodate us. They have an extensive menu of sweet and savory items. I wanted to try like 5 different items! I ended up ordering the puffle waffle which came with a coconut ice cream, white chocolate shavings, nuts, and some flowers. Some of my friends ordered the French toast forever which is french toast stuffed with cream cheese and topped with fairy floss (cotton candy). Our food did take a while to come but it was so worth it. The puffle waffle was delicious and the coconut ice cream on top added some wonderful flavor. Then nuts, flowers, and white chocolate just added to the decadence. The meal was very filling and satisfying. Everyone was pleased with their meals. Highly recommend!

Visiting my daughter who is here studying abroad from the states. I have walked past this place many times and it always has a line. I checked it out and yelp and one day when she was studying I happened by it with no line!! I had to go in and I'm glad I did. The crab meat scramble was scrumptious, the servers friendly, and the portion was quite large (more of an American portion). I brought my daughter the leftovers!! We will be back to try the salmon salad which looked amazing!

Fantastic! Loved our Egg Benny with pork belly, yuzu hollandaise with a crispy potato and miso croquette, and the mushrooms on toast. We licked our plates, in spite of defying cryptic wall saying "stay hungry, be humble". Excellent coffee too!

I'm not entirely convinced after wanting to come here for a very long time. It's a 3.6 for me. On the good side, the space is well set out and decorated nicely. Service is lovely too. Very efficient and pleasant with lots of smiles. I can't fault the coffee either which was right up there with Melbourne's best. It's superb coffee. It was the dishes though that didn't quite convince. I had the crab meat scramble. The dish looked beautiful. The egg had wonderful texture and was spiced beautifully. The croissant didn't work for me at all though and I found the sweet and savoury combination a bit off putting. 50c has the smashing pumpkins dish which he said needed more spice and more flavour. So in the end, things were below expectations sadly.

As soon as you walk in to the boutique hotel Adelphi, you sense the personal and fun touches. The lolly jar and lolly bag in reception, swinging chair in the lobby and wire horse installation. Walking past the reception desk and ahead to the host stand marking the start of the dessert bar you are greeted by friendly and professional staff. We told them that we have no reservation and are hoping for an empty table ( it was a weeknight) staff threw a comforting "no problem" and whisked us inside. I can only describe the staff as sleek. they are fast, smooth, friendly and professional. Just the right amount of greet and chit chats. having sampled the Mont Blanc and Tarte tartin at the Yelp event, we opted for Smoked Banoffee, Strawberry fields, and Cendol with a side of Adelphi rose cocktail. My advise is to gulp that cocktail before you eat because after all that sweetness the cocktail starts to taste bitter hahahah The Strawberry field is my fave, with strawberry gelato for mushroom head and marshmallow for the stem, lychee, raspberries and the surprise rosewater sphere that pops in your mouth ( or your fork). It tastes like perfume but with cool texture! The smokey Bannoffee is very very strong, our waiter tells us it is the dessert that divides diners. Love it or hate it. the flamed liquor leaves a thick woody flavour and the dish comes with popcorn, salted caramel syringe, ice cream, choc ball. HOW DO WE EAT IT???? however you want, they say..... The cendol is the only one that I could do without but was enjoyed by my partner. a small choc bowl holds the gula jawa, coconut type pudding and cendol balls. They sit on top a mango pudding. If you close your eyes, you have all the taste of Cendol but it's so bloody confusing for your eyes!! Would we go back? yes I'd like to try the other desserts and perhaps the high tea, if you plan to visit, the degustation is a good idea, $49pp for 3 small version desserts ( all you need). and it looks like each person can choose their own 3. Super!! just thinking about it makes me go Om Nom Nom Nom

The sign said I had about a 30 minute wait. I was getting pretty hungry after a long day of sightseeing and catching the game. So with that thirty minutes to kill now I wanted to find something quick, right near the station. I walked outside, crossed Flinders Street and there it was, exactly what I was looking for. This place, Spanish Doughnuts is a little hole in the wall for sure but with a truly unique food item that blew my mind. Churros! Being from California, I have had many churros. They are everywhere. The movie theater, Disneyland, Sporting events, concerts, Costco! They are all delicious, a fried dough rolled in cinnamon. Pretty basic stuff, all the same everywhere. However this place had a variety flavors! You can get them filled with jams, custard, chocolate, peanut butter. Truly awesome. Some even come dipped in chocolate shell, like a candy bar with a churro inside. I chose the churro with peanut butter in the middle, rolled in a chocolate coat. It was fantastic. They also have a selection of coffee and sodas to choose from. You can make a little combo meal where you get a churro and a coffee and save a buck. Unfortunately for me, I'm now thousands of miles away from this place. We were pretty full from our lunch, but upon arriving, our bellies were at once again ready to go! I'm more of a fruit tart type of gal, so I went for the Lemon Tart (6.8). The others had the Brownie & Passionfruit Chocolate Gateau (8.6) and the Hazelnut Millefeuille (8.6). We essentially shared our desserts, so I got to try all three! I loved the Lemon Tart, as it was neither too sweet or sour, and I love tart pastries! Although it's difficult to go wrong with a lemon tart - there definitely wasn't any added or artificial flavor that shouldn't have been there. The Hazelnut Millefeuille was also delicious, as it reminded me of a Ferrero Rocher. It was definitely richer, so it was difficult for me to have too much, but puff pastry always does it for me. The brownie cake was also really delicious, and was a good balance of all the flavors, especially with the layer of passionfruit. They do an afternoon coffee and dessert special for $9 that we should have done, but we didn't see it until after! On display behind immaculately clean glass were dozens upon dozens of colorful and perfectly delectable French pastries. The Mister Green Tea (what a witty name for a cake) caught my eyes immediately. Absolutely enchanting with perfectly crafted raspberry jam and gold leaf on top of a faint green tea cake, it completely stole my breath away. Upon looking closer, the tiny pastries were made with black sesame sable base and green tea mousse. And as I bit into it, I found the center filled with luscious raspberry cremeux. Everything about it is a testament to perfection and deliciousness! I also got their Matcha Latte, and it was just as sensational as the rest of the desserts. That green tea was light yet rich, slightly bitter to counter the sweetness of the cakes. Beautiful in both presentation and taste! The price may be quite steep for such a small plate of dessert ($9.90) and a cup of latte ($6), but to find a rare gem like this certainly makes up for once in a lifetime experience.
