Highly highly recommend to book with Humboldt Cannabis Tours. Matt is such a great tour guide! He shares pieces of history of Humboldt and cannabis. He provided us with water and soda water. He gave us a heads up of when and where we can take bathroom breaks so you don't miss out on the tour. We went on our tour in his commercial van. It was super clean, super spacious and very comfortable, AC worked like a charm in the back! We went to Catch a Cloud farms and met with Auria (I really hope I spelled her name right) who owns the farm with her husband. She was incredible! Takes pride in growing cannabis and does it with so much love and care. She's been doing it since she was a young kid with her Dad! That's amazing! We went through the different stages of growing cannabis from start to finish, to packaging, etc. She let us smoke on her farm during the tour, she took us into the packaging room where she let us smell whole turkey bags full of cannabis! She even gave us tees! It was so sweet of her! We loved you Auria, THANK YOU for letting us tour your farm! It was a huge eye opener to see what the local farmers of Humboldt County go through to provide us with quality flower. The work that goes with it and the love that is poured into the quality is admiring. I have always supported the local farmers of Humboldt, but this tour made me want to support them more than ever. I'm from Long Beach, So-Cal, so I don't see much Catch a Cloud around my area, but I sure will be letting my local dispensaries know they need this brand in their shops asap! Best believe we didn't come back home empty handed! We bought several Catch a Cloud 1/2 ounce bags and several 1/8ths from Fireplace in Arcata (YES! They have 1/2 ounces!!!). I just finished a roadtrip from redwoods to Yosemite National park and the Humboldt Cannabis tour was our first stop and let me tell you it was my highlight of my trip!! Hahaha. Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly! Matt was our tour guide and man that guy has a lot of information and knowledge revolving cannabis and nature in general! Whether you are into pot or not, Humboldt Cannabis Tours gives you a fascinating look behind the redwood curtain with a beautiful catered lunch among the giants, tons of history and fun facts, and a sense of adventure. I was on vacation in the area and a bit bored so decided to check out the tour since some high school friends are growers or in the industry. I learned more than I imagined possible from the friendly guide, Matt. We started at 9am in downtown Eureka in a complex with a bunch of artist studios and lovely potted gardens. You receive a full guide in your confirmation e-mail with all of the details needed for the day, so props to Matt for providing such useful but compact information. They factor in dietary issues, I was able to get a delish veggie sando with tons of local ingredients. After seeing a greenhouse operation, we headed down 101 to the Avenue of the Giants for lunch. What a spread! Tablecloth and cloth napkins and everything! I had said sandwich and choice of different styles of chips, along with many soda's and la croix available. Super interesting seeing the dry farming, makes me want to try with my home vegetable garden next year. We headed on this crazy bridge across the river and drove on the rocks to one secret spot that was a highlight as well. I particularly enjoyed hearing about local culture and history, as Matt was clearly an expert. I got a personal tour few days ago and got to say, highly recommend! I was interested in learning about the cannabis industry to start a business and Matt (owner) crafted the tour to my needs. The day started in Matt's very comfortable and clean commercial passenger van. We visited one California's leading dispensaries, a couple of accessory shops (at my request), then it was a 30 minute drive down to visit nurseries and farms. It was really cool to see how the nurseries work and seeing the cannabis plant growing from seed to small plant. If you want to see full grown plants I learned you would have to plan your visit during summer/spring (starting Jun) as that's the season outdoor cannabis is in a larger condition. From there we had lunch at a local place, visited some other destinations and wrapped up the day. The key reason I enjoyed the experience was Matt's deep insight in the industry. He has spent years living in the heart of the Emerald Triangle living and working in the cannabis industry. He knew everything from growing, tending, and the history of the area, as well as business insights like taxes and licenses. In prior years, Matt was a river guide for 10+ years, so he was very adept at storytelling and loved sharing his knowledge. Highly recommend!! I planned my bachelor party with Matt a few months in advance. He was so helpful. He helped me plan the entire weekend, and even got us a discount at an awesome hotel. The tour was better than I had expected. Matt knows every angle of the pot industry, and did a great job of teaching us. My favorite part of the tour was getting stoned in the Redwood Forrest. Have you ever driven by one of those anonymous roads stretching back in the hills of Humboldt Cty and wondered - what actually goes on back there? Well, if so - Matt can take you up one of those roads and part the "redwood curtain" for you to see into the lives of some of the folks working to preserve the culture of Humboldt production as California embraces legalization. After a bit of confusion on my reservation status (new system), Matt made it right and we took a pretty amazing day trip on a Monday right in the heart of harvest season. Got to see robust plants, soil grown, no irrigation, no trellis, in-situ seeding, cultivation for oil vs. cbd vs. thc, the harvesting, trimming and curing process, and had a really enjoyable hour+ long visit with a second generation female farmer looking to transfer some of the lessons from the craft/small batch wine/distilling industries into cannabis. Gave me a TON to think about, answered all my questions, and provided a preview of coming attractions as the decriminalization in CA continues into the future. Matt is a seasoned pro - spent years as a raft guide, worked in the industry in Humboldt, lived in the area for a few years - he is part of the community and a great guide to the area, with a broader perspective. We decided to skip the dispensary visit (I live in CO and there are tons), focus on the one farm due to the harvest season time, and took a quick bonus tour of some neighboring options in the same valley, seeing parts of the County that few folks see. Tons of great conversation, lots of conjecture, discussions, banter. A great day, accomplishing a life long goal for me, in great company. Can't top that! I booked a full day tour with Matt. He's such a wealth of knowledge not only of the industry but the local area. He's incredibly friendly and courteous. Navigating tours during covid can be tricky, but I felt incredibly safe with protocols he had set up. It was a great day of learning. I loved the two farms and dispensary we went to. I especially liked that one of the farms was female owned and the other heavily influenced by the female partner of the owner. We were delighted with our private half-day tour. Matt took us to a nursery where we spent more than an hour learning about the biology of the cannabis plant (fascinating!) and the intricacies of the cannabis industry in Humboldt County, both legal and otherwise. The staff at the nursery were happy to chat with us, but Matt was the expert and had well-considered answers to all of our questions. For lunch, Matt had a picnic prepared and took us to a gorgeous grove of old growth redwoods (which Humboldt County is also famous for). We ended the tour back in Eureka at a dispensary where the owner gave us a very substantial discount on pre-rolled joints for being on the tour.
