We started off in San Francisco and stopped at Vista Point by the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a super clear day and we got great photos by the bay and bridge. Our guide poured us mimosas and we drove off to Sonoma County. He gave us an overview of the day and a little history before each stop! We went to three wineries and an awesome dispensary. All the wineries gave us great tastings along with the history and stories of their proprieties and wines. We also got an amazing lunch halfway through the day. At the dispensary stop, Solful, we got a really informative presentation from the owner where he taught us about the different components of cannabis and the different ways of consuming it. We got a booklet with all the information that we could take home with us. Everyone there was super helpful and I left with a couple bags of chocolates! Overall, this was a day very well spent and I highly recommend it! We met fun people, got to taste great wines, and left with bottles of wine, chocolates and a ton of new information about cannabis.

Great views at the Golden Gate Bridge before leaving SF. Then onto Sonoma County for some great breweries and a very informative stop at Soulful (a cannabis dispensary). The breweries were very welcoming and gave us a great look into the production process of some up and coming breweries. Our group was able to taste 3 brand new beers that haven't even been released yet! I loved at Henhouse when they let us try the same beer at 3 different stages to show the different tastes at different points in the brewing process. Lunch was delicious and we made a lot of new friends on the trip. Soulful have a great presentation about the different types of cannabis, the different properties they possess, and all the different types of products they have! Definitely a must the next time you are in Northern California or even a local wanting to something awesome on the weekend.

Icaria Winery, Cloverdale, CA - September 1, 2023 This was…read morethe second and final winery of the day for us. We had tasted earlier in the day and were ready for one more tasting adventure. Tastings here are by appointment only. I learned that texting in my appointment request worked very well. We were able to get a 3 pm appointment. Due to its location, you'll get a text explaining how to get to the location and what to do when you get there for parking. This is a pretty small scale family-run winery operated out of the basement of a house that is at the top of a hill not far out of town. There are about 50 acres of wine grapes grown down below. The tasting fee is reasonable - $20/person, compared to other wineries in the Alexander Valley area that have $40+/person tasting fees. Our host was family member Helen, who was charming and knowledgeable and she poured our wines and explained a little about each one. We also got to meet and talk to her husband and winemaker, Greg, We got to taste their Chardonnay, Zinfandel, a couple of their cabs, and a very recently (that morning) bottled Pinot Noir. Everything was very delicious as we sipped our wine overlooking the vineyard below. All the wines were very reasonably priced I thought, considering their outstanding quality $35 - $65. We bought a bottle of the Cab. Sauvignon and the Pinot Noir. We have every expectation they'll be delicious when we open them.

Came here with a friend during a wine tasting event, and we were both blown away by the aesthetics and the Cabernet! This was hands down some of the best Cab Sauv that I have ever tasted in my life. That kind of Cab that makes your eyes roll to the back of your head with each and every sip. Yeeep... like that. 'Twas extraordinary and I lived to tell it. Upon entering their estate, there's a long windy one way road. It was our first time there and we didn't realize that it was a one way road until we got closer to their grounds. It's pretty gnarly! We didn't realize that they have a shuttle bus that transports guests up to their estate. Whoops! Make sure you don't make the same mistake we did and park at the bottom of the hill and wait for that shuttle. Trying to turn around to go back down that one way street is scary, but we made it work. From first glance, the estate looks like a charming old house on the hill. In fact it is, but you'd never expect what's hiding in the backyard. A full on patio tasting area with jaw dropping views of the valley beneath. Our eyes instantly lit up when we made it to the back patio of their estate. Is this even real?! It was stunning and extremely intimate. We were only one of three groups (one group left shortly after we arrived). It felt like we almost had the place to ourselves. The owner/winemaker (Jeff Smith) and his wife (Helen Smith) are so down to earth and hospitable. They poured us our wines and told us about what we were tasting. I love visiting and supporting small family owned wineries like this. It's such a special and intimate experience. Every wine that we tried was exceptional. Their Cabs are just friggin' mouthwatering, and this is coming from a gal who doesn't drink Cab all too often. But let me tell you; their cabs are so damn smooth. It's literally like silk. Still bold like a Cab should be but extremely balanced. Boldness without the super tannins. When it hits the back of your throat, it just opens up with so much complexity. These are Cabs that don't need food to bring out their flavors; they can be enjoyed all by themselves in completely delightfulness. But, I KNOW that they would be amazing when they are being paired. Just exceptional Cabs. I'm actually so grateful that we came across Icaria during the wine tasting event because I'm not sure if I would have discovered them otherwise. If you're looking to taste in the Cloverdale area, Icaria should be at the top of your list of wineries to try.

I rented Wineberry Lodge and Blackberry Cottage for a wedding party of 11 people. All eleven of us…read morewere very comfortable at the location. Both places were beautifully decorated and furnished. They were also exceptionally clean. The kitchens in both places were very well equipped for gourmet cooking. Just a couple examples of unexpected food prep and entertainment equipment are coffee grinders, food scales, large serving plates, and extensive stemware for wine. Very unexpected supplies included whole bean coffee, fresh fruit and two bottles of wine. There are also a large number of toys and sports equipment in the garages. My son brought his own golf clubs and got in a round of golf while we were there, but the Wineberry Lodge has two sets of golf clubs in the garage in case someone does not want to transport their own clubs. The site is beautiful and located in a very convenient area for golf, wine tasting, and in my case about a three-minute drive from the Vine Hill House wedding venue Heidi was a wonderful host. I highly recommend either or both of Wineberry Lodge and Blackberry Cottage for a wine country getaway.

Even the drive through the trees feels enchanted. David was the best. He took us on a journey and you could tell he knew his stuff. The food pairings were also delicious. Ok wine time. This was THE best Gewürztraminer I've ever had. Like, you could have a bottle of this easily on your own. We even took a few home to try with Indian food, and it was delicious. Another hit was their Zin which was interestingly like a strawberry rose but again, very easy and tasteful to drink. We heard about Duncans Mills Camping Club so reached out to the owner for a trial stay. We were able to book a two night stay for the same week. We arrived and were greeted by Tina, who helped us pick a good spot for our trailer that was near the river and close to bathrooms and other amenities. The site was large and flat which made backing our trailer in very easy. It had a fire pit, grill, and picnic table. It was a short walk to the river's edge and beach which also had a huge grass are that you could sit on near the river. We took a great hike which was less than 2 miles from the campground where we hiked up to a ridge and could see the ocean. After the hike my husband used the very large hot tub. We didn't use the family area or adult area but looked at it. It had games, books, pool table and other things to do. The fitness room was on the back side of the building and had enough equipment to do a good workout. We went midweek so there were not very many campers so it was very quiet and peaceful. Only thing we had to watchout for was poison oak. The staff was there cutting it back in many sites. All in all it was a great stay. Staff was friendly and available for questions, facilities were good (bathroom was very clean and spacious), and campsites were large. We got the information while we were there about joining the club and are seriously considering it due to it's close proximity to bay area, amenities, flexibility of booking sites and cost if we will use it as much as we are hoping to.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Brennan who directed us to our private wine tasting room which was amazing. Despite being 45 minutes early we were promptly seated with no delay. The room had two beautiful white sofas, leather chairs and a roaring fire place. Brennan was very knowledgeable with the wines and history of the winery. She was personable and had great interpersonal skills. The entire experience at Michel-Schlumberger was incredible.
