Great place Hume Lake is beautiful. Great lake, beach, and views all around. I especially like that this is a non motor lake, which adds a nice chilled out vibe. You won't find the "gone2glamis krew" here. I recommend setting up shop at Sandy Cove. It's a quieter area, there are some awesome streams and boulders to climb around on, and perhaps most importantly you're at the opposite end of the lake from the christian camp. That camp and mini town give me a weird vibe, but it's easy to avoid it. However, keep in mind they somehow have one of the only gas stations on the mountain so it may be worth driving through to top off.

Hume lake is beautiful! We went hiking and exploring around the lake. It's an relatively easy hike, toddlers can probably do it. There's a part of the hike where you can explore the streams of water that pours into the lake. There's a sandy beach if you want to relax in the water. There's plenty to see and at the lake you can find a gas station, market, restaurants, gift shop....and tons of camps/cabins. We didn't stay at the cabins but bumped into a lot of families that did and loved it. You can also rent boats and kayaks for the lake.

Lovely 2.8 mile trail around the lake. Gorgeous view and easy walk. Highly recommend! There's a Christian camp on the way and has a lot of snacks drinks including ice cream!

Such a great place! Our family has been going for years! Worship music plays, the snack hut is a must! Water is calm and quiet....

We had our annual camping trip at one of the local campsites near Miller's Landing resort. One of our days we decided to use our 15% off coupon from our campsite to Rent a 9 persons pontoon boat. The folks working at the counter for the boat rental were friendly and helpful. I wish I could say the same thing for the dude's working at the actual boat dock. They gave us weird vibes. Like, have y'all never seen Asians renting a boat? WTF are you guys glaring at? WTF is so funny? It was irritating AF! Thankfully, the time on the water was really fun! The kids had such a good time zipping around on the water and we also rented a tube that we towed off the back of the pontoon boat. Yes, it's not a speed boat, but it was fast enough for the kids to enjoy being towed around. The next day we went back to Miller's Landing to use their public showers. Five dollars for five minutes. Make it quick! The shower's were clean, water was warm, or cold if you prefer, but the line can get long. There is no complimentary shampoo, soap, or conditioner, so be sure to BYO. It was a good option for those of us who were tent camping that NEEDED a shower. Although we didn't dine in the restaurant, we did get drinks, ice cream, and milkshake's from the café, all of which were really tasty. We will definitely plan to incorporate a boat rental, showers, and meals at Miller's Landing when we plan our annual camping trip for next year!

HWY 168 remains open, however, and there are still plenty of snow parks packed with snow along the highway once you get up to the 6000 feet elevation level. If you travel a little further northeast, about an hour's drive from Clovis, you will find Huntington Lake. Much of the lake was still frozen solid when I visited there last weekend and the temperature up there was mild with only a hint of a breeze. There was also plenty of snow along the roads and on the marina and lakebeds, which made it a perfect place to visit to see the snow, take photos of the lake and snow-capped mountains, and escape the heat. Perhaps best of all, there were not too many people who appear to visit the lake since it is mostly frozen and with Shaver Lake, China Peak Mountain Resort, and the aforementioned snow parks all still open for some fun in the snow and outdoor enjoyment. Considered one of the cleanest and most pristine lakes in the Central Valley and in the Sierras. I cannot wait to come up again in another month as the snow is melted down to fish and swim in the lake and hike on its trails. For the first time in over a decade, the water levels will be at full capacity. It is known to get a bit breezy during the summer months, which makes it ideal for sail boating. There are probably another two or three weeks to see and play in the snow. Huntington Lake is my recommended spot to go for those in Fresno County that do not want to travel too far to find a lot of it.

Of course we got there way early because the instructions said arrive an hour before your appointment time. Good little soldiers we, arrived at 8:02 for our 9am paddle. By 8;10 they wanted to know if we wanted to get breakfast first or just go. Pffft! Lemme at it. The other good: okay, it's the Sierra Nevada. How can it not be glorious on a lake? Buuuuuut... here comes the bad: waiting, waiting, waiting at the end for someone to notice we came back. I blew my requisite emergency whistle twice in frustration and still nothing. Probably ten minutes of employees not seeing us, or maybe preoccupied with the gasoline powered craft. Which brings me to the next maybe not bad but not great... we were the only people who didn't need to sign the disclosure that we had to pay for our fuel separately. That, in and of itself isn't so bad... but it meant this 3.5 mile lake was choppier than some oceans on which we've kayaked. Constant wake. We had to stay on the shore side of the large orange buoys, and the motorized pontoon boats, sea-doos, jet boats with water skis... they were on the other side. It's like when I was a kid flying 11 hours LAX - LHR in the 1970s and the smoking section's boundary changed based on the ratio of smokers. Yeah, there was segregation but hoo, didn't make a lotta difference. Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy. Still, we're on the lake, it's a beautiful day, what's not to love? The ugly wasn't appalling by any stretch but it wasn't great either, and it's the reason I'd rate this place 3 of 5 stars. It got the job done but I didn't see any evidence that people cared. The kayak was dirty and had trash in/on it - half a paddle padding torn off and river weeds. The paddle was held together with peeling electrical tape, had only one drip ring with no padding (maybe sitting on the prow?) and the paint was chipping off. And the drink holder was half full of slimy river water. Blech. Who wants to risk drinking nasty water running down your bottle? For $250 for two hours, I would expect better.

BUT man was I Deceived...the day we met for delivery at millerton Lake we drove up met with a young lady Named Paige who seemed very respectful understanding and professional. I asked a few questions since it was my first time ever renting a jet ski and asked where I was supposed to put jetski when we take breaks from being on it since we were camping there I couldn't see us being on it the full 8 hrs straight and she stated that we could tie it up at the dock or anchor it in the water due to the water level being so low and our camp site being a half a mile on the other side of the lake I asked if there was a key or lock to start it and be able to lock it or take key to turn of and take with me during breaks of going back to site to rest or eat so that Noone could jump on it and steal it. And she mentioned it had a universal key and anyone with a nother universal key could start it. So at this point I'm not worried about losing the company's jetski and me being responsible for the lost or the lost of my deposits. With the water level being so low we would be nowhere near to observe or keep safe the jet ski and we could just stay on it all day considering it was 8 hrs and just me and my wife. So we would have to take at the least break to eat and use the restroom. So Paige said she totally understand and mentioned that we could still cancel and would be refunded in full. She asked us to think about it and Because of the risk I was taking and for the protection of the company's jetski me and my wife felt we should take Paige up on the offer of canceling with the full refund. So we did. Never were we in possession of the jetski it never left the trialer it arrived in and never hit the water. She said I would receive a refund an I would receive a call from the owner in a bit to take care of it. I even offered for them to take $50 out of the total refund for the their time because i was Thankful for their understanding and time. So we parted ways and later that day I called because I had not received any call or notification from the company. I waited and Saturday the 13th I called again no answer. Left a message and texted. No response Monday called texted emailed and no response. Tuesday Paige calls to tell me I couldn't receive a refund that after all and that there is nothing she could do. I asked to talk to the manager and she hung up on me. As of today I have not received a refund or heard back from the company. Rented jetski on the 12th today is the 20th such a disappointment this company really let me down if I would have know I was going to lose out on $466 I would have just kept the jets ski for that day and took the risk instead of losing money for nothing my mistake for caring about the companies jetski and my own deposit. So sad and disappointed. Be careful with this company I pray that Noone else gets done this way. They didn't even offer to allow us to just pick a new date to rent since we were charged for nothing. Never received a call from management or anyone other then Paige. I can't let this Go something has to be done. People can't just take advantage of customers this way

One of the backrest clip loops was broken (kayaing without a working backrest is horrible), and the deck hatch was so old that water leaked right into the hold causing flooding. It also appears that this Marina knows about the kayak flooding because they drilled a custom drain hole in the back of the kayak for flooding drainange. These issues weren't realized until I was already on the water. Obviously basic expectations of a kayak rental weren't met. The previous day we rented from Shaver Lake Watersports and they had all new kayaks. So new that they still had the brochures attached to the kayaks. Perhaps that's why SLW cost $10 more an hour to rent.. I guess you get what you pay for. As others have said, it's teens working here on a summer job. Nothing wrong with that of course but they're not really trained to look for issues with a boat (or kayak in my case) before sending someone out in the lake. They also don't have knowledge of Shaver Lake's boating laws. The kid that launched me said that everyone was required to wear a life vest. After looking it up, the law states 12 and under must wear a life preserver. I took it off when out of Marina sight. Tip - if you're staying on the lake as a "day use" and are thinking about renting a kayak, make sure it's for half-a-day or full-day rental.
