It's not often I'd bother Yelping about a carpark, but parking inspectors in North Sydney are voracious and I've suffered at their hands too often. Why exactly is parking by metre only until 10pm in a shopping street in which everything is closed by 6?? Possibly for the same reason that the council charges $5 flat in the evenings yet parking is free during the day (up to 2 hours). This would make sense if this was a hub of night time activity - sure there are a few great restaurants in the surrounding streets, and the carpark abuts the North Sydney Indoor Sports Centre which attracts evening ballgame participants - but why does this warrant lumping such challenges on the unsuspecting parker after dark?
Sadly, there is not even anything particularly special about this carpark - in fact it's got pretty tricky turns on the ramps which take some practice. But you can confidently leave your vehicle there for a length of time without returning to that infuriating slip of paper under the windscreen - even if you're longer than you plan to be. read more
