Omg! Humewood Park, our neighbourhood park that my dad used to take me to all the time when I was a kid. It's had a makeover since I was wee, but they still have swings and a playground there.
Oh, the memories, I remember that I would tell my dad to push me higher and higher on the swings and then he would ask me if I wanted him to push me so high I would go all the way over the top and circle around. As a kid I did not understand physics and I was terrified that what would happen is I would reach the top and instead of circling around I would drop straight down and land on the bar that the swing was attached to, lol. That was a real fear of mine, haha.
After going to the park we would stop at one of the many convenience stores on Vaughan Rd (at the time, there were like 5-6 within a few blocks of each other) and he would buy me Pixy Stixs, and when we got home my mom would chastise him for buying me junk ("it's just sugar and food colouring!" she would say), and then we would do it all again the following week, haha. Sometimes he would buy me Glosette Raisins (for my American friends, they are like Raisinets) as they were "healthier" and "make mom less mad." Lol. Good times.
Humewood Park is a smallish community park. It has swings and a few play structures, and a sandbox. There are a few picnic benches, some park benches and some green space. Truth be told, it may not seem like anything special if you don't have a connection to it, but I do, so I love it ;) read more
