The Economy Shop is literally a Victorian style house with every room crammed with secondhand goods and antiques. They're only open 3-4 days a month from 9am-3pm, so you need to plan your visit. When you enter, you're handed a paper sheet that is divided into different categories of merchandise. When you go to each room, they total up whatever you want to buy from that given room. When you're completely done shopping, you pay at the far back of the house and exit. Prices are fair and you can find some great stuff here. The basement was one area that was overwhelming. Almost too much to look at and fully absorb. Tips for first time visitors: 1. Bring reusable bags or a tote bag. They will give you bags but a good sturdy bag will work to your advantage. 2. Parking is tricky. You're fine on residential streets but if you park along the train tracks, you have to feed a meter. $2.00 per hour. Card payment only. 3. Leave small kids at home. The rooms and hallways are too packed and tight to reasonably manage kids in tow. I like this place! I will be back!

The shop itself is in part of a large building, so you need to follow the hot pink signs to find the entrance and their parking lot. I'd checked the business out online and discovered that it's a non-profit charity, so I brought in a bag of items to donate to the store. I was overwhelmed by the space. There's so much to see and a bunch of different rooms. I walked around in circles because it was just too much for my brain. I know I missed areas but I had to give up due to input overload. If you've got time, Upscale Rummage is a great place to visit and shop. It's always nice to know that your money will be doing good in the community.

Well, I went in for an entryway table (aka a catch-all table for next to the front door of my condo) and I found something I loved that wasn't quite the right size. Shari immediately reached out to the maker of the piece, and now I am getting one from her that is custom fit for my home! She has lots of beautiful pieces in the store, but if you don't see what you're looking for, be sure to ask about it. Odds are, if it's not in stock, Shari (or any of her employees) can probably help you find or build it. In addition to shirts, earrings, and furniture, Recycled Modern has a nice collection of beautiful wall art, and plenty of vintage glasses frames to try on (along with the option to order your own lenses to fit, for those who are basically blind without glasses like myself). Plus, candles! And as far as I could tell, any of the new items were all made by independent (largely local) makers. Vintage items sourced from all over. Just go. What else are you going to do. Basically you're just playing Pawn Stars haggling with the man at the front (probably without any experts involved.) Don't get me wrong this store got plenty of business and customers throughout our visit here. The store itself is chaos and unorganized. In the men's restroom it's absolutely awful because they have stuff thrown and shoved all over the bathroom and around the corners it seems like it's definitely a fire hazard just walking around. One of the weird things I found was a checkbook from many years ago. Nobody should be selling that that thing needs to be sent to the fire. They do have some decent finds but nothing out of the ordinary.
