I really wanted to love this place, especially with its claim of being the "world's biggest." While it's certainly packed with an incredible array of items, that density actually makes for a frustrating shopping experience. The aisles are so crammed that it's impossible to navigate with a shopping cart, which really limits your ability to browse and buy. It's a shame because there were genuinely interesting items, from high-priced antiques to thrift-store finds, but the difficulty in moving around made it hard to truly appreciate them. After driving over an hour and 15 minutes to get there, leaving empty-handed was quite a letdown. While I appreciate that they at least had a bathroom, which allowed me to stay as long as I did, the overall hassle overshadowed any enjoyment. I'm not sure if I'll make the trek again for a second chance. I had high hopes, but ultimately, this place just didn't live up to them. Still worth a try. I have been going to this thrift store for almost 20 years and have found some AMAZING finds here. These past few years though I have noticed that the prices have gone up and they no longer take "offers" on the larger priced items like furniture. Most of the "everyday" stuff likes vases, plates, and other knick knacks used to have colored price labels on them, which was nice because certain colors would be 50% off on certain days. Now everything seems to have a white label, which is never half off. And I'm not talking about the nicer knick knacks but cheap glass vases and other less desirable items. I understand that they want to make money but some of the prices are ridiculous, dare I say, out of control - the store is filled to the brim already, why not move some of your inventory faster? read more

I wish I could love this thrift store. I did find some nice tops & sweaters for reasonable prices. The lady who checked me out was very nice. I came here from Chicago after seeing info on this place on WGN channel 9 news. It is not worth the drive. Despite finding a few nice things, the store is a mess. Very tight isles & I felt if I moved a bit there was so much glass items they would break. 1 way isles too because they are so tight, if someone is coming by you have to back up. I love thrift & resale stores, but not overpacked with small isles. The clothes had no kind of organization either. I prefer to go to neat thrift shops. The clothes I found were very nice & not too much. But not worth the effort it took to search through such tight over filled racks. Also if you go here be aware of pick pocket fools. I always keep my $ hidden in my purse & pin it shut. 1 lady kept "so called bumping me" & was way too close. I gave her the evil eye & she backed off! This was a diamond in the rough! I'm so surprised at how much stuff I was able to find from tools to clothes to antiques, it's literally a one stop shop! The prices vary from a little overpriced for some items to dirt cheap for others so you need to take your time to find the sales. There were tons and tons of beautiful pieces of furniture. Lots of knickknacks and a huge selection of books. The customer service we didn't experience til the end of our shopping but the cashier was very pleasant and chatty. Some items were a little pricey but the furniture is very beautiful. Wish we had room for a lot of those pieces. Over all I loved it here. This store is like a treasure hunt each time I go in there. They have such a wild assortment of things for sale that you just can't take everything in within one visit. The building is very large and every nook and cranny is filled with things from 100+ year old furniture, sets of China and glassware, books, clothing, small appliances, midcentury modern furniture, vintage paintings and things that I can't even begin to describe. There is lots of Knick knacks but as you pick something up to examine it you are going to accidentally break something else!! Then pricing is all over the place and not consistent. If I wanted retail I would shop retail or online like Amazon or eBay from the comfort of my home knowing that it would arrive to my doorstep well packaged and in the condition I saw it online!! That's the whole purpose of thrifting! Of finding a great find at a great price! Thrift is in the name of the store... right? Speaking of prices. I was going through some linens that were in zip locked Bags. I would open a bag to inspect and put the item back in the bag. I was mostly checking for mold as these items are old! The cashier kept glancing thinking I was stuffing more stuff into bags!! Some bags had 10 items for $3 but other had 2 items for $3!! It's not my fault they were priced like this? Why would you think I was sabotaging your weird pricing methods! Then all the prices were either a sticker or a sharpie mark. But when I go to the counter the cashier practically accused me of changing prices!! She said all "table clothes are $6 price and not this sticker of $4 but then proceeded to charge me $4 for the same item in a different color because that sticker was different? This left a bad impression in me even though I spent $80 in one visit that I will NEVER make again! Then the aisles are really just large book cases, dressers, nightstands, bed frames, entertainment centers and China buffets with even weirder prices. They had some high end vintage /antique stuff that really would need TLC at prices of retail from a high end antique dealer / designer shop where the TLC was already been done! SMH Then on my way to the restroom I saw back storage area - even more inventory and furniture!! What a mess! I don't understand why not price inventory at thrift prices that will move your inventory so you can display more inventory then sell and make more money!!! The name of the store has the word THRIFt!! And yes if you have a 100 year old chair then restore it and sell it online for top dollar where 1 person within millions of people will search for that item and buy it at retail cost plus shipping!! Here you will get maybe a few hundred customers a month- going to take awhile to sell. Maybe I am wrong? My conclusion is that's it's all from estate sales. Great you bought all that selection so I can shop but at full retail, broken, scratched, and weird pricing strategy for the same items!! Lots of broken pieces that might have been put on the shelf in great shape but with so much stuff crowding they get broken but still have a high price! SMH! My unwanted advice to manager/owner - MOVE inventory by selling at the thrift price so you can bring in more inventory and sell!! You buy at $ you sell at $$ faster and repeat!! If you do go be aware that this place is dirty, smelly, and they have barely any clothes for sale. Where is the awesome estate sales clothing? If an item has no price they are not going to sell it to you as it happened to me. They had sings that maybe in the past they had sales like by color of tag but I asked and not even a senior citizen discount! Carts don't really fit up and down the aisle. The cashier conveyer belt was full of junk that I sure hope the stuff I paid for all came home with me. So much clutter in that area! Cashier is going to be suspicious of you - maybe they have high theft but honestly nothing from there that fits in your pocket is worth stealing!! Sorry for the rant but I drove my big SUV really far even crossing several county lines after reading reviews but sorry not again! And I don't like the feeling that this cashier thought I was stealing! It's not my fault the store has weird pricing that identical items have 2 different prices. And at these prices I assume if I went back next month it would 95% of exact same items on the shelf again! Some of those pieces of furniture I know hadn't been moved in years! Oh and customer service was not good to another customer as well. An older guy wanted a better plastic bag that was in plain view for his items as he was on a bike. Cashier made a big deal about plastic bags being SO VERY expensive!! She must have said it 5 times and went on and on that stores don't give out bags because they are SO expensive!! He kept kindly asking because that flimsy bag will rip on my bike home. I was just about to buy the guy a bag when she finally agreed to give him a better bag. It was like a Menards plastic bag a bit more tougher. And he apparently was a repeat customer. A plastic bag really? An older guy on his bike? On a bike in Aurora? He was shopping there out of necessity! I think he had bought some household cleaners and pants for Pete's sake! Why dehumanize the "poor" guy! I heard this whole Spanish conversation because the linens are right by the cashier. read more

Made a trip to thrift around Aurora for the evening. This place was AWESOME! If you enjoy searching through things and finding your own hidden gem, this is the place to go! I walked out with new hand-painted wine glasses, frosted rose pink vintage glasses, a new lamp, baskets, and decorative Knick knacks that fit right into my farmhouse theme. There is tons and tons of large pieces of furniture ranging from tables to couches to anything you can think of. My favorite "find" of the day was a huge set of vintage prescriptions cases filled with old prescriptions (satisfied my inner science nerd). The staff was friendly and helpful and took great care of my items (wrapping properly, taking time with items, making sure prices were correct). Thrift & Dollar is a gem for home goods and antiques if you appreciate vintage things. The vast collection of items takes time to look through. I spent a couple hours in here, and it's as fun to shop as it is to look at historical objects - there were even wooden chests from Ellis Island, and I was thinking they could be items in a museum rather than thrift shop! I seriously eyed a gorgeous handwoven wool rug, priced the same as Target, but much higher material and quality - it just had a stain that I wasn't sure I was confident would come out so I left it behind. I left with a pair of unique Japanese serving dishes and handmade pie plate for under $10 and have been frequently using both pieces in my home. read more

I love this sweet store! There is so much to look at, I easily spend an hour or more in here. Lots of beautiful dish ware (plates, teacups), lots of unique decor, lamps, and plenty of furniture. I've found some wonderful decor here over the years. They also have a small clothing section, they used to have a lot of high quality vintage-y jeans, but they have had fewer of these recently. I would love to see the jeans come back, as I've found two of my favorite pairs of jeans here- one was by Tommy Hilfiger! They also have a lot of purses, hats, and winter gear like scarves. Shoppers beware... Interesting place, super filthy, some cool stuff but lots expensive of junk the pricing makes no sense here. I picked up an item that said $3 and it was half off. A guys who works there offered to take it to the front desk for me and he decided to remove the $3 tag and place a $18 price tag on it. The reason it was $3 is because it was broken. But he decided to try to up charge me once I showed him it was broken he brought the price back to $3 but wouldn't give me the sale price. What a joke. I won't be back. read more
