If you want to know more about this quaint and beautiful town, while sampling foods at the locals' favorite spots--- the culinary walking tour is a must. It was wonderful spending over 3+ hours, walking through a progressive food experience. Appetizers first at Finz (fresh- catch tacos)...then Front Street Grill for lunch...Clawson's for huge desserts....and all with the best tour guide providing us the rich history and folklore of Beaufort. Took tour with my family for my 24 year old's birthday. We had a great time. Food by Foot Culinary Walking Tour was guided by Betsy Cartier who is extremely knowledgeable about the Beaufort area and personable...like going with your favorite aunt. The food tour was a progressive meal starting with appetizers, then entree and finishing with dessert. All food was tasty but the dessert was amazing. We visited local shops along the way and strolled through the historic Beaufort while Betsy discussed the history of the homes and anectodes. David, Betsy's husband, met up with us from time to time as he led his own tour. The two bring their own unique style so I'm sure either Betsy or David would be great tour guides. If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. I called to book the tour and spoke to David on the phone. We was quite possibly the nicest person I have ever spoken to...ever! Not only did he help book the tour for my husband and me (who have never been to Beaufort), he offered suggestions on where to eat and some things to do while we were here. The tour itself was great! We did the culinary bike tour. We stopped at 3 different restaurants - one for appetizers, one for lunch and one for dessert. The food was all delicious! In between, Betsy toured us around Old Beaufort and pointed out some historical homes and gave us the history of the town. We went to a really quaint olive oil shop and a wine shop with some really neat stuff that we were able to sample. The bike ride was leisurely and fun on beach cruisers. We got the entire tour in before a storm rolled in which was perfect! I would highly recommend David & Betsy for anyone visiting Beaufort. It was 3 hours that we really enjoyed! read more

The Hidden Beaufort Tour was amazing! It was a great way to see everything this beautiful city has to offer while learning it's old history. We had the best time with the owner, Betsy. She took us all over the city while pointing out historical sites, landmarks, and restaurants. It was such a beautiful day that we were lucky to see the horses in the distance on Rachel Carson Reserve. Betsy is a fantastic storyteller! My family and I were traveling to Atlantic Beach for the first time. I researched things to do in the area and found out about Hungry Town Tours. My girls, 18 and 20, are huge Nicholas Sparks fans so we decided to sign them up for The Ride to Remember Tour, and my husband and I planned to do a food tour. Due to the pandemic the food tours weren't running so we quickly watched the two films mentioned in the tour description and showed up for the ride. Betsy was fantastic! This is a can't miss when you come to Beaufort (NC not SC). David and Betty took us on an evening bike ride throughout downtown Beaufort. The pace was leisurely and they stopped often to tell interesting bits of info. We even went by the house Blackbeard was rumored to have stayed. There are differently themed tours going out throughout the day, making this a great option to try multiple times. We really want to try the culinary tour that stops at local places to eat and drink along the way. You really can't go wrong with a Hungry Town Tours adventure. read more

Great experience and the owners really care. The bikes are in great shape and each bike has a unique name (see my picture). The rates are very reasonable at $5 per hour for a two hour minimum. Beaufort is small and so we were able to ride around the whole town in two hours. We didn't do a guided tour but next time we will since we aren't from the area. read more

Had such a great time on the bike tour! We chose the culinary tour on a Monday. The selections were a little different that day since a handful of places in town are closed on Monday, but Betsy and David both are very knowledgeable about the town and made great decisions in where we biked to and what we ate. Both also have a background in hospitality, and it shows. You feel welcomed from the moment you first talk to them. I had found their website online and had decided to walk into their store before we booked. We spoke to David who didn't pressure us at all, just explained the tour options and gave us some info. (They have a great weather policy too! Basically just work with you to get you what you want, if it's a light rain they can turn it into a walking tour, reschedule you or even give you a refund). We endes up calling later that day to book. We toured with one other couple, which made it a nice intimate event. Betsy is a true hostess, the hospitality is not an act, it truely runs through her blood. Our tour consisted of wine tasting, olive oil and balsamic tasting, and toured around 3 restaurants to get an app, entree and dessert, all were delicious. We also biked around Beaufort and Betsy explained history of the homes, we even visited in front of black beards rumoured home. The two of them are so incorporated into the community you would think they had lived there their entire lives! My only suggestion would be to have options for more biking, maybe the tour we chose just happened to have less biking to make time for more eating, but I want to work off those calories! I would recommend these tours to anyone visiting, they truely have options for everyone and are soo accommodating! read more

We had a nice culinary tour with Dave. We were staying in Emerald Isle for our 'minimoon' and decided morning of that we should check out Beaufort, NC. We called around 11:45am on a Wednesday asking if we could take the culinary tour that day, and though we hadn't made reservations beforehand he was more than happy to oblige. He said take our time getting there, and we showed up around 12:20pm. We visited 3 restaurants - one for appetizers, one for lunch, and one for dessert - and also visited a local olive oil shop and wine shop. A must for anyone visiting this quaint oceanfront town along the intracoastal. Relaxed and informative! My husband and I took the culinary bike tour, although there are several different kinds of tours available. Owners and tour guides Betsy and David LOVE what they do, and it shows from the moment you arrive. Being a petite gal with even shorter legs, I'm always a little trepidatious and resigned to the fact that rented bikes will be a bit too big for me. Not so here! Betsy not only had a stylish and well-maintained bike available for a lady of my size, but also made sure both of us were comfortable on our rides with a quick test run through the side parking lot before embarking on the tour. Ahhhh.... We went to 5 culinary stops total, and it was clear the storeowners, staff, and townspeople had a familiar and positive relationship with the company.
