We went to The Black Cat Shoppe in person- an hour before the tour started - to purchase them in person and were able to get two tickets. We went to the site to meet our tour guide 15 minutes before the tour started as requested. It was not comfortable because it was hot at the meeting area outside. The tour guide came around 7:30 pm and introduced herself and got to know us. Before the tour started, we had to sign paperwork to claim that the business and tour guide was not responsible for any problems we had on the tour. Our tour guide Gina was a delight and gave us a theatrical performance throughout the tour. Not only was she dressed in a costume, she was always on cue and kept the tour interesting and short & sweet. She made sure all our accommodations were taken care of and had a microphone, so we could hear her throughout the tour. Throughout the tour, she offered to take photos and help as much as possible. There were three couples, six people in the group- 7 including the tour guide: Alex, Tyler, Rachel, Zoe, Bobby, O. , & Gina, the tour guide. We walked to four bars during the night hearing ghost stories and experiences from the energetic and ecstatic Gina. From the reviews I read, the tours go to different and various bars each time . On our tour we went to : Growler's Tavern, The Rooftop Bar, Lula's, and The Blue Post. You purchase the drinks you like at each bar and congregate at a chosen area to hear the ghost stories from the tour guide. Only one bar had drink specials posted for us to see. Most of them were dive bars yet charming nonetheless. My favorite bar was Lula's because it was small and welcoming. Tiffany made me a classic martini and chilled the glass for me. The ghost story Gina told me was my favorite as well. Other highlights in the tour: The creepiest place was at the theater area by The Rooftop Bar. The Rooftop Bar had the most spectacular aerial views of the sunset and Wilmington. The decor, games, pool tables, and drink specials in Growler's Tavern. The sitting area in The Blue Post that use to be an open are alley walk way for prostitutes. The tunnel entrance in Lula's , an underground dark pub, which was part of The Underground Railroad, where slaves escaped to gain freedom. Overall, we liked our haunted pub crawl, and we got ideas of places we would visit again in the future.

Our tour guide/docent, Courtney was very good, her knowledge of Wilmington is immediately apparent and based on many years of working and living in the area. My colleagues and I learned a great deal about Wilmington and its food scene, which apparently is very diverse and plentiful for any card carrying foodie! The only thing I regret is that my colleagues and I didn't do this sooner during our visit to Wilmington. I'd recommend this tour for anyone (history buffs to foodies or those who want a fun activity in Wilmington ) and to take tour this upon arrival to set up your meals for the days to come; there are lots of good restaurants in Wilmington that deserve business!

This was a smooth and surprisingly delightful 35-minute ride across the Cape Fear River. You could…read moredrive the long way around, but for $7 and a short wait at the terminal, the ferry offers a far more enjoyable experience. We paid our fare and lined up with the other vehicles. Once the incoming ferry unloaded, boarding began in a calm, well-orchestrated fashion. I was guided precisely where to stop and park. Since we were in the Sprinter van and had already used the restrooms back on land, there was no need to head into the passenger space. The ride itself was peaceful and smooth today, with beautiful views of the Cape Fear River unfolding around us. About half an hour later, we docked and rolled off. A very cool way to cross. One detail worth watching for: just opposite the Southport terminal, there's an old brick lighthouse tucked into the trees. That's Price's Creek Light, built in 1849. It's the last surviving river light from a series that once guided ships to Wilmington. The structure sits on private land and isn't accessible but if you're on the ferry, you'll have the best view. We lucked into the good weather, but everything else I thank the captain for. He let us get involved in the whole sailing experience by letting us steer and help hoist the sails, very fun. Also gave us all kinds of fun trivia about the area and all kinds of fun stories while we wined and dined on the goodies we brought along with us. Very charismatic. He also made sure we got plenty of photo ops in and is quite the talented photographer! For a two hour cruise, we couldn't have asked for a better experience and we'd be happy to recommend a trip with Oliver anytime!

Not sure if that's the set up every weekend or if this particular night was an exception. There was a few corn hole boards for people to play on one side and the band was on the other side. There were a few spots to grab a drink, but we found a spot that sold "basic" beers and a moscato slushy which I thoroughly enjoyed! The band that played, played for at least an hour and a half without a break. We knew every song and sang and danced to the music. We had a good time!
