This is the locals go to place for crabs, oysters, salmon, PEI mussels and other seafood. Ask about the seafood potpie--awesome.

We got there right when they opened, and I'm so glad we did because the huge restaurant filled up surprisingly quickly. We were among the first to order, which definitely worked in our favor. They didn't have jumbo crabs that day, but the large crabs were REALLY large, so we were still very happy with our order. The crabs were exactly what we were hoping for on a summer holiday. One thing to know: there is no indoor dining; all seating is outdoors under large pavilions with fans. It was definitely a warm July day, but the fans helped, and honestly, the outdoor setting made it feel even more like a classic MD crab feast. They also don't provide aprons or gloves, so you might want to bring your own if you don't want to smell like crabs for the rest of the day. But honestly, that's part of the whole experience haha

I'm convinced that Kent Island does not have any decent crab houses, only tourist-trappy,…read morehigh-priced, private equity-owned eateries that ship crabs in from the gulf coast and cut corners everywhere to maximize profit. Fisherman's Crab Deck is a classic example of this dilemma- I took my daughter here after picking her up from stay-over camp in Chestertown. We both wanted steamed crabs, and had been to Harris in the past and were not impressed, so we checked out Yelp and found the ratings were pretty good here, so we stopped in. First impressions are important, and after entering and following the sign to be seated, all we saw were a bunch of women gabbing away like they were sharing last night's dating stories. Eventually one came up and asked us whether we wanted inside or outside seating. We asked for a table near the water, and got seated near some clown who spent his entire time in the restaurant shouting on his phone. So, I know staff can't control what people do once seated (to an extent), but maybe this suggests what type of clients they get. Anyway, our waitress comes up and takes our drink order- I asked to sample two beers on draft that I was not familiar with- she looked at me like I wanted a free dink or something, but reluctantly told me she would "ask the bartender" if this was ok. She wasn't rude or anything, but just seem slightly annoyed at my request, as well as the entire time "serving" us. We get our drinks, order our crabs, and I got some ears of corn and crab soup. The soup was ok, the ears of corn tasted like cow corn that had been shipped in from Bangladesh- they were that bad, and at $4 a piece, this was a high crime. I didn't dare tell our server given her demeanor- I didn't want to chance a blow-up. The crabs themselves were ok- nothing special, but not bad. With that said, we ordered extra-large and got large- one trick these Kent Island crab houses have is that they undersize their crabs- extra-large are actually large, large are actually mediums, etc. No respectable crab house would do this, but I guess Fisherman's and others nearby think it's another way to make more money. Another thing I noticed is that this place doesn't use Old Bay seasoning, which is treasonous in Maryland. The server said they use their own recipe, which is about 90% salt dumped on the crabs, and saves them money. Additionally, they don't use butter to dip the crab meat in- you get liquid margarine which tastes like chemicals. Finally, their vinegar dip is not vinegar- don't ask me what it is, but it tastes terrible! For two people, our bill came to over $115, and we only ordered a half a dozen crabs. Outrageous. Bad corn, small crab sizes, no Old Bay, and a patron at the next table yacking over how his sub-contractor is over-charging his company. I won't even mention the finicky waitress. Two stars, Fisherman's- and I'm never coming back.

I have been coming to this restaurant for over fifty years and we frequent five or six times a year since it is a 90 minute drive each way. The food is always impressive and delivers each time for freshness and quality. We started the meal with Maryland Vegetable Crab only because we had the Cream of Crab here the night before. The Cream of Crab is always impressive and is full of crab. Definitely a must! All three of us found the Maryland Vegetable Crab too salty, probably from the Old Bay seasoning. We had fried shrimp, stuffed shrimp, and seafood alfredo this evening. The fried shrimp were perfect, the size were large and perfectly fried. The seafood alfredo was creamy and full of seafood. The stuffed shrimp were delicious, but the only drawback was that there was a lot of shell that I experienced in almost every bite. This should not happen at a restaurant of this caliber. Overall, our server was extremely friendly and attentive, but I sensed that the restaurant cut servers too early last night or didn't expect a Monday to be so busy.

Soft Crab Tacos , these were truly amazing. Great choice and super delicious. Scrumptious Scallops, also were excellent. Blue Fin Tuna was very good, rare and great flavor. Maryland Crab Saute was a good dish as well. Lots of crab. Coconut Cream Pie, was just ok.

In fact, the dining areas for the restaurant were a lot larger than what I expected. The restaurant has a pretty extensive menu, so everyone should be able to find something that they'll like. Relative to other places, I thought the prices were fine - not super cheap, but not expensive. The restaurant also has a nice list of various frozen and regular cocktails. Overall, service was great in that our waitress made some great recommendations and check in on us a few times during our meal. The waitress did not go wrong in recommending the shrimp tacos. I was hoping for three tacos instead of two, but the portion size of the tacos were packed so I guess two tacos are fine. Overall, we a nice time at The Jetty and hope do visit again after Matapeake Park. Oh, I almost forgot to add that the The Jetty is very dog-friendly.

The crabs here are size designated by the size of the shell. Not by weight. The weight different DRASTICALLY. I'd read other reviews that said the jetty does not give af if you let them know the crabs are light/basically empty. And service was spotty so no one came to check anyway But dang one of my crabs barely had more meat on the inside than the claws of the other crabs. Sigh. I also felt like the seasoning was not as heavily old bay as I'd prefer. But great waterside dining? Easy parking. Would not return unless we had the dog with us. The dog enjoyed her hamburger patty.
