Fisherman's Inn Restaurant has always been a staple when headed over (either way) the Bay Bridge. The renovations are beautiful and the restaurant was clean. The soft shell crab tacos were a huge appetizer and the most delicious way to start the meal. However, when I got my Maryland roll as my dinner, there was a dead bug in my coleslaw upon eating it. The manager was very apologetic, and the waitress was extremely accommodating. They made me a new meal and packed it up to go. Besides this, the meal was great. You can't hate seafood on the Eastern Shore.

Large and spacious seafood restaurant overlooking the water that has a vast menu. Eating area is broken down into a main dining room and smaller bar room that also has full service tables (no kids after 2pm). The dining room is homey with a fireplace and a moving model train on a circular track above the tables close to the ceiling. Our server was so accommodating and friendly. Came by often to check on us and tended to nearby tables as attentively. Menu has common seafare (crabs, lobster, fishes) grilled, broiled, fried, chilled. They also have steaks, burgers, sandwiches and pasta (and vegetarian choices). I ordered a special : 2 sautéed softshell crabs with fries and string beans. The crabs were fresh, delicate meat, and had hints of browned butter. The green beans were fresh (not frozen or canned) and cooked perfectly. The beans are normally cooked with bacon but was able to request it without the meat. Fries were crisp and non greasy. My companion had the tidewater rockfish and enjoyed it as well. Portions are generous. Lobby has articles and newspaper clippings on the walls that explain this restaurant's history.

We frequently stop by Kent Narrows for lunch or dinner when traveling between D.C. and the Maryland shore. It is perfectly located after the massive traffic on the bridge. Fisherman's Crab Deck is one of our favorites but it was completely packed this time. A sign suggested trying its sister restaurant next door. We have never tried Fisherman's Inn Restaurant before; so why not? Fisherman's Inn offers a much calmer atmosphere than the Crab Deck but no outdoor seating. The restaurant has charming decor, including a display of vintage china and an adorable model train running on overhead tracks. We were seated in a booth by the window with a lovely view of Betty's garden. Our server, Michael, was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the steamed shellfish pot, which came in a generous portion. The broth and bread were delicious. The sunset salmon was also a substantial serving, and the corn served with the flounder fillet was very fresh. With excellent service, delicious food, and unique decor, this dining experience was outstanding. Fisherman's Inn is definitely worth the stop!

Visited Fisherman's Inn with a colleague for my first dinner in Maryland and was not disappointed! Started with a cup of the Oyster Stew and was surprised with the amount of oysters inside! The flavor was amazing and what I had hoped for being in the Chesapeake Bay Area. For an entree I went with the Broiled Seafood plate so I could try as much as I could during one sitting. The crab cakes were so delicious along with the local specialty imperial shrimp. Scallops were good just right and sided with a baked potato. Being a railroad fanatic, I was impressed that there is a model railroad elevated above the dining area that travels around from room to room. Interior is inviting and sure the view is fantastic during the day time. Our waitress was top notch and made our visit enjoyable. She was personable and never let our glasses go empty. Explained the menu well and answered any questions with ease. If back in the area, I will definitely be visiting the Fisherman's Inn again for a great meal.

So we made our way upstairs and had to walk around a few corners to get to the bar before we self seated and found a table under these stairs. But the view! It was pretty, with the small lake or pond we were staring into. The whimsy breeze felt great against my skin and thankful there was an umbrella which shielded us from the hot sun. The tables were covered with craft paper. There were one server working the section. We ordered a Bloody Mary and a Paloma - who doesn't love a good cocktail on a hot day outside next to water? The menu is a decent size. We wanted the extra large crabs but they only had six left so we did half extra large and half large. We also ordered Mac and Cheese which turned out to be Kraft Mac and Cheese, Hush Puppies and also an order of Cole slaw. I was tired after trying to crack three crabs, but the flavors were great. I wish it had more of the orange eggs stuff but I guess we couldn't choose which type of crab they were and I had no orange eggs in the crab. But the flavors were good. I enjoyed the experience. It was pretty chill and just nice to be outside cracking teeth and sipping drinks.

For dessert, we ordered the hot fudge sundae that included Captain Crunch cereal pieces. "Linner" was good overall. There's something about the water, the breeze, and the quiet charm of this area that settles your spirit in the best way. A good friend of mine lives on Kent Island, and honestly, the best way to visit Bridges is by boat. Pulling up to a restaurant by water just hits differently. But don't worry you can absolutely drive here too, and the experience is just as lovely. Restaurants by the water are always a plus, but Bridges brings more than a view. It brings that easy, coastal energy that makes you want to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and enjoy where you are. The kind of place where good food, good company, and good scenery all meet at the same table. Service has been great at the Dock House. The servers have to walk fairly far from the kitchen to the dockside tables and they maintain great service. Kudos to them. Speaking of dock, there is space to dock boats parallel to the bulkhead. Several small to mid-size boats were there both times I visited. I looked to see if there was a sign about the depth or rules for docking there and I didn't see anything. What I have observed is there isn't a dock hand and it's not protected so it can get a little bit of chop. A few boaters were just hanging out on their boat listening to the live music so they didn't seem to mind getting jostled when larger traffic comes through the channel. We got there right when they opened, and I'm so glad we did because the huge restaurant filled up surprisingly quickly. We were among the first to order, which definitely worked in our favor. They didn't have jumbo crabs that day, but the large crabs were REALLY large, so we were still very happy with our order. The crabs were exactly what we were hoping for on a summer holiday. One thing to know: there is no indoor dining; all seating is outdoors under large pavilions with fans. It was definitely a warm July day, but the fans helped, and honestly, the outdoor setting made it feel even more like a classic MD crab feast. They also don't provide aprons or gloves, so you might want to bring your own if you don't want to smell like crabs for the rest of the day. But honestly, that's part of the whole experience haha

I'm convinced that Kent Island does not have any decent crab houses, only tourist-trappy,…read morehigh-priced, private equity-owned eateries that ship crabs in from the gulf coast and cut corners everywhere to maximize profit. Fisherman's Crab Deck is a classic example of this dilemma- I took my daughter here after picking her up from stay-over camp in Chestertown. We both wanted steamed crabs, and had been to Harris in the past and were not impressed, so we checked out Yelp and found the ratings were pretty good here, so we stopped in. First impressions are important, and after entering and following the sign to be seated, all we saw were a bunch of women gabbing away like they were sharing last night's dating stories. Eventually one came up and asked us whether we wanted inside or outside seating. We asked for a table near the water, and got seated near some clown who spent his entire time in the restaurant shouting on his phone. So, I know staff can't control what people do once seated (to an extent), but maybe this suggests what type of clients they get. Anyway, our waitress comes up and takes our drink order- I asked to sample two beers on draft that I was not familiar with- she looked at me like I wanted a free dink or something, but reluctantly told me she would "ask the bartender" if this was ok. She wasn't rude or anything, but just seem slightly annoyed at my request, as well as the entire time "serving" us. We get our drinks, order our crabs, and I got some ears of corn and crab soup. The soup was ok, the ears of corn tasted like cow corn that had been shipped in from Bangladesh- they were that bad, and at $4 a piece, this was a high crime. I didn't dare tell our server given her demeanor- I didn't want to chance a blow-up. The crabs themselves were ok- nothing special, but not bad. With that said, we ordered extra-large and got large- one trick these Kent Island crab houses have is that they undersize their crabs- extra-large are actually large, large are actually mediums, etc. No respectable crab house would do this, but I guess Fisherman's and others nearby think it's another way to make more money. Another thing I noticed is that this place doesn't use Old Bay seasoning, which is treasonous in Maryland. The server said they use their own recipe, which is about 90% salt dumped on the crabs, and saves them money. Additionally, they don't use butter to dip the crab meat in- you get liquid margarine which tastes like chemicals. Finally, their vinegar dip is not vinegar- don't ask me what it is, but it tastes terrible! For two people, our bill came to over $115, and we only ordered a half a dozen crabs. Outrageous. Bad corn, small crab sizes, no Old Bay, and a patron at the next table yacking over how his sub-contractor is over-charging his company. I won't even mention the finicky waitress. Two stars, Fisherman's- and I'm never coming back.
