We've been with Huntington Education for almost a year now, and I can honestly say the experience has been incredibly encouraging for our son. Math has always been a sore spot for him--especially with his slower processing speed--but the support, patience, and structure provided by the Huntington team has made a difference in both his skills and, more importantly, his willingness to keep trying. What stands out most is the level of personal investment the instructors make in each student. Mr. Justin, in particular, has gone out of his way to understand how my son learns and where he needs extra reinforcement. It never feels like a one-size-fits-all program; it's truly tailored support that meets him where he's at and helps him move forward at his pace. My son is currently 8th Grade in a private school in Pasadena and has been going to Huntington for over one year now. He has been taking pre algebra and now Algebra with Ms. Liu. The math skills and techniques are being taking t here is no doubt one of the simplest. On top of that there is weekly home work packets go home with the students for them to practice the techniques taught in the classroom. The teacher will review the homework during the class. My son is not a natural hard working student. It is challenging to keep him from distractions. Ms. Liu has been keep us updated with his progress (up and downs) and also giving us reminders on how to keep track of his homework etc. I believe if your children are willing to get help and do some extra work outside of their schools, you will see progresses. Huntington Education has greatly helped my 5th and 7th grader in English Language Arts over the course of one school year. My children needed more practice with writing than what they were getting in school, and Huntington Ed provided the "old school" focus on the basics - essay organization, grammar, vocabulary, transition words, and more. The teacher, Ms. Sophie, is great and grades each week's writing homework thoughtfully, with comments and suggestions hand written in the margins. Homework assignments that earn lower than a 90% grade are to be re-done using teacher feedback. The class is held twice a week, with one day focused on expository writing and the second focused on fiction/literary analysis. The class reads a fun novel together on this second day and is a highlight for my kids. It may sound like a lot, and it certainly is a time commitment, but the program is worth it! read more

After taking this course, he tested into the next level of math at school easily. After that, my daughter followed suit. Both my kids were able to achieve their goals! Two of my sons have taken classes at Huntington Education. One has taken the summer Algebra 2 class and summer pre-calculus class. He tells me he finds the classes helpful and makes his time during the year bearable and finishes with an A. My other son took the SAT prep class and increased his score dramatically from his diagnostic test to his actual SAT score. I had difficulty in Geometry in 9th Grade and went to Huntington Education in the 2nd semester for extra help. My class was a small one, around 10 students. Everyone received great attention and thorough learning. With Mrs. Barbarics' assistance, I did much better in Geometry & Algebra 2, and had confidence to register in Honors Math Analysis and AP Calculus at school. In one short summer, both my kids (5th and 8th grade) had a dramatic improvement in their math skills. I was a student at Huntington Education Center from 7th grade until 2002, when I graduated from San Marino High School. Since that time, I've graduated from UCSD with a BS in Bioengineering on a full academic scholarship, and graduated from UCSD School of Medicine. My academic success is in large part due to the education I received from Huntington Education. While I was a student, I had to opportunity to learn from Mr. Liu, Mrs. Liu and Irisa. All three are excellent teachers, and have countless years of experience teaching elementary, middle and high school students. Their tremendous experience translates into extremely high yield classes and home work assignments that prepare their students for success both in school and on SAT and AP tests. At Huntington Education Center, you learn more than just math or science; you learn the discipline that is required for scholastic success. More impressive than their results is the fact that they care about their students as individuals. Mrs. Liu makes herself readily available for extra study sessions prior to SAT or AP Exams, and will stay as late as you need in order to make sure you feel prepared for your tests. With the help of Mrs. Liu and the team at Huntington Education, I received a 790 on the SAT I Math, 800 on SAT II for Math, and a 5 on my AP Calculus BC Exam. I went to Huntington Education Center from 2007 to 2014, when I graduated high school. This tutoring center is good because the teachers all genuinely care for you and want to help you to keep learning. I had Mr. Liu for grades 6-7, Mrs. Barbarics/Ms. Liu for 9 and 10, and Mrs. Liu for 8 and 11-12. I attended Algebra I (8th), Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, AP Physics, and AP Caculus BC. Everyone in my class at San Marino High School in AP Calculus BC got a 5 on the AP exam. From the middle school years, the teachers have structured lessons year-round, which they have perfected to teach you much ahead of the school curriculum. There are also homework packets for middle schoolers year-round, and high schoolers during the summer, to help build the foundation for the classes during the year. I think the summer homework was especially good for me in AP Calculus BC, because Mrs. Liu taught me most of Calculus AB before the school year started. My math grades were definitely not the only thing that contributed to my college entrance, but Huntington Education Center made math more enjoyable, with less stress in school, the SAT, etc. I will graduate from USC, HKUST, and Bocconi University. read more

We are so happy with Ms. Liu's AP Physics live class in the first semester but due to scheduling conflict, our daughter took AP Physics in 2nd semester by just watching videos of Ms. Liu--but guess what, unexpectedly, our daughter still maintains an A in her class at school! Ms. Liu also shows care to our daughter besides academics! Once in a while when our daughter has some Physics hw questions or Calculus questions, Ms. Liu was willing to help her anyway. Last but not the least, Justin have been such a kind, helpful member of the Liu family--his can-do attitude, always so enthusiastic to help, always stays positive and extremely patient! Having taken classes with almost everyone at Hungtinton Edu, our daughter has maintained top grades at school and at SAT or AP exams, and she sees Hungtington Edu her second home, with the second family to care for her! My mom signed me up at Huntington Education against my wishes. But it turned out, a couple of hours a week did a lot of good. It forced me to allocate time for Math and SAT prep. Not only did I review, but I also learned a few lessons ahead at Huntington Education. What I like best about this place is that the classes are taught by actual teachers who know what they are doing and care about their students. I went to Mr/Mrs. Liu's for close to 8 years as I went through middle school and high school taking her regular math curriculum, SAT II Math, and AP Statistics classes. She played a formative role in helping me get into UC Berkeley through the week to week math preparation as well through the standard exam reviews. Going to class was not relaxing or always enjoyable, but I learned to realize over time as I grew older that Mrs. LIu showed a kind of devotion and unparalleled dedication to her students that is hard to find in many teachers. She would stay after our classes before tests to make sure that we understood the subject matter and came in on the weekends when we needed extra review before our SAT or SAT2 Math exams. Due to the fact that many of my peers and I spent a lot of time at Huntington Education, Mrs. Liu sort of took on a role as an extended parent who sincerely cared for us and knew our families and part of our personal lives. It is rare to find teachers who are committed to their jobs and to their students to this extent. Mrs. Liu was and always will be hard on her students and push them towards excellence, but it is only for the goal of making sure they are successful. I grew up in this tutoring center and Mr./Mrs. Liu shaped me to develop a diligence and strong work ethic that I used in college towards studying. I am grateful to have had the experience to attend Huntington Education and cannot recommend any other center you should be taking your child to for math preparation/tutoring. read more

My 8th grader son is in their Algebra class. He took English last summer too. Here are my thoughts: 1. English summer class is small, teacher is nice. It's worth taking this summer class since your child will have almost a private tutoring experience. 2. 8th grade Algebra summer classes were taught by Mrs. Lu. She is hardworking and strict. She gives lots of homework which helps a child practice which is good. The bad part is my son has a hard time understanding her. Lessons move very quickly during summer; therefore I have to teach my son so that he can do his homework. 3. 8th grade non-summer classes taught by Mrs. Lu. Again lots of homework which is good for practice. Again my son could not quite understand the teacher well but he manages to get by by looking at the examples and asking the teacher to repeat herself. But I feel that she cares whether my son understands and I feel that she tries to make sure that the puts in the effort while doing his homework. This is because he has the tendency to guess his answers so that he can finish her homework quickly. 4. On the whole, I am very thankful for Mrs. Lu because she tries to make sure my son understands by asking him questions and by telling him that if he doesn't put in effort on his homework, he needs to stay in to do it. My son puts in more effort on his homework nowadays. Truthfully, my son doesn't understand her completely but it cannot be helped because the class is big and also I believe my son refuses to ask questions. I am unable to rate her teaching skills since I am not in the class to watch her. read more

This is a family-run learning center that gives each student personalized instruction. The teachers here have more than just content expertise, but know the idiosyncrasies of the math programs at the local schools their students attend, as well as the standardized tests students are required to take. They are capable guides who can show you all the tips and tricks and ins and outs of navigating math on the SAT and in your particular school (or even specific math teacher). Their English curriculum provides lots of explicit instruction and concrete strategies for mastering essay writing and literary analysis. Students receive direct instruction not only in grammar and vocabulary, but are guided step-by-step through the process of writing cohesive paragraphs (in the lower grades) to analytical essays (in the upper grades), making writing an accessible skill for English Language Learners or anybody who's ever had writing anxiety. Many of the families who send their kids here have been doing so for years, and the long term relationships the teachers build with the students help students to grow not only academically, but also socially, instilling in students a strong work ethic. They provide superbly exceptional teaching, explaining, and coverage of many fields of math, along with providing excellent preparation for standardized tests and et cetera. Granted, one will have to allot extra time for such further studying, though such work always comes along with schooling. In the end, the preparation, knowledge, and study skills picked up from Huntington Education really does pay off once in college. Moreover, the multiple teachers at Huntington Education provide different perspectives and disciplines on the same subject and really allows people from all backgrounds to understand and comprehend material covered not only at the establishment but also at one's respective school, university, or college. I graduated from San Marino High School back in 2002 and came to Mrs. Liu during my high school years. I matriculated through UCSD bioengineering and Stanford University. I've learned the most during my time here and was definitely prepared for the geometry, algebra, pre-calc, and calc classes. She definitely prepared me for my AP tests as well as college. I remember as the AP tests were fast approaching, Mrs. Liu allowed us to come in to do some additional studying and we wouldn't leave till 10, 11 at night.
