LOVED my CPR class!! Eric the paramedic was teaching this three-hour class, and he made it interesting and the pace was great. The quality of his instruction was easy to follow and understand. Cost was free since my workplace provided me with a voucher and the book which is needed for class. The room was small, but big enough to practice CPR on the adult and baby mannequins. Test was easy as long as you took good notes and listened during class. Parking in the back of the building is free. Restroom is clean. Free coffee, water, and snacks!! I was in a bit of a crunch as I realized I needed by BLS before next week and since it was the holidays, many places weren't offering classes until after the new year. Luckily from a yelp search I found this place, and so glad that I did. I was able to sign up for the Sunday class and the price was actual lower than the place I used to go to. The online sign up process was easy and I got my confirmation right away. The place was right on the corner where Huntington curves and easy to spot even when the gps tries to take you the wrong way. There is ample parking in the back. The class was already set up and they had bathrooms available as well. Andrew was an awesome instructor. He was to the point, funny, and made sure everyone understood and stopped after each segment to see if anyone needed him to go over anything again. The test was given at the end and graded right there. The ecard is then emailed. I highly recommend this course here and will take it again when needed. Got my BLS training done here and it was very easy to sign up last minute days before on their cascade website (which surprisingly the website takes logging in very seriously, and you must create an account to sign up). *** Quality of Training was great! *** The training was very straightforward if you're doing a renewal. They do have to play the AHA video at normal speed for every section, and the skills testing was quick, so that will take 2 hrs plus however long you need to do the actual written test. The trainer goes over all the required key knowledge points at each section and summarizes it again at the end which is very helpful :) Thank you Amy! FYI . The mannequins used only have compressions feedback on the infant ones, and not the adult ones :( However, the adult one that you use for the skills testing at least does have an iPad feedback that you will see during the test portion. Otherwise every person gets their own tablet set up. One Restroom is available on site and is very clean. *** Parking *** The location is pretty convenient but parking is limited in their onsite lot, especially if there are more than one class going at the same time. Before you leave, you will take a 20 question multiple choice skills test (so make sure you pay attention during those 3 hours). I had my BLS renewal class at the beginning of December. I chose Lifesaver Education because we had their instructors come to teach us BLS while I was in school. Sign up is quick through their website online, and they will call, e-mail, and text you beforehand to confirm your class. Liz called me about a week before my scheduled class to have me reschedule for a different date since I was the only one who signed up for my original date. The facilities are clean, and there is a small parking lot next to the building. Once everyone has arrived, the instructor will get started. We had Andrew as our instructor, and he did a great job of going through all the material and skill testing efficiently, so we finished earlier than I expected. After passing the written test, I received my eCard within an hour or two by e-mail. You get to keep the study guide and pen as a souvenir. Overall, a very good renewal class experience, so I will likely continue doing my BLS renewal at Lifesaver Education. read more

I was on vacation while the hospital I work for had the BLS renewal class. Of course I waited until the last minute to renew. After contacting numerous training centers the lady who answered the phone sorry forgot her name was super informative and friendly. I took the class today and ZACH was awesome! He was energetic and friendly and when he caught a mistake he was super polite and constructive and corrected by demonstrating how to do it properly. Somehow I erased my original review as I tried to update it today. Customer service for LifeSaver has now been farmed out to a multistate company called Cascade Training. They are in the middle of merging with Cascade. Cascade operates in several states. I signed up for in person HCP BLS a and the first time I had to cancel about 60 hours in advance (well within their 48 hr window) I am an RN a and had a sore throat and had been treating COVID patients. To avoid potentially exposing anyone in class to COVID I decided to reschedule. They do not allow refunds FOR ANY REASON). I called the call center and they allowed me to rebook. I had to cancel about a day and a half in advance because my new employer changed the day I had to do some pre employment testing. The woman said she would give me one last credit. Called the call center when I was ready to schedule for the final time. She said there was no note in my account to this effect. She said she would to contact the local S Pasadena CA office. She had me on hold for about ten minutes. Never once came back to the line to let me know what she was doing. My call after all that time was rerouted to their annoying and impersonal phone tree. Comical at this point. Finally someone from the local office called me and said they could see the notes about the last person saying I could reschedule one last time. The local person said the call center didn't have access to this??? I attended the BLS class and the instructor was kind and funny and I learned a lot. I was a bit taken aback though because she said she has been teaching since the 90s I believe and when asked she said had only performed CPR once on a human. She was a lifeguard. After this I had to take a Hospital Fire Safety class. I took it online at Surefire CPR which allows refunds and they have an excellent customer service team. They only have locations in S Cal only. The day of the class I had difficulty downloading the latest version of Zoom and their customer service line was available in like a minute and walked me through it and I was able to join the class. The woman explained they are always available for customer support during online classes. Their much more lenient cancellation policy is attached. Also, their staff/teachers consist of first responders and healthcare professionals only. Though the instructor at Cascade was nice and seemed knowledgeable I think I would have learned more from someone who had to do CPR more than once on a human. read more

Been going here since coming back from Chicago, this time I did the online ACLS and BLS. I actually prefer this option. The stimulation at end of each topic was so informative, I like that you are able to repeat each stimulation. There is briefing on what you did wrong and how to improve. Full access to everything online with just simple clicks. You are able to come back do each section at your own leisure. Worked out perfect because I don't have time to sit for 6 hour class and try to find a babysitter especially during COVID. The second portion of the class was 30 mins each, it was great John my instructor was very informative!! He provided lots of clarity on each EKG leads and which rhythm are shockable. I've come to Lifesaver for two BLS and PALS renewals, including my most recent one which was yesterday. I give them five stars for communication (the email prior to the course with helpful material, general information, etc.), office amenities (decent sized facility with a clean restroom, snacks and coffee available for students), staff, and actual instruction. My experience this most recent time was probably a little unique in that I received a phone call from lifesaver the day before my course notifying me that because I was the only one registered for the in person course, they would have to cancel and reschedule me as the instructor could not teach one pupil for the full day. This is understandable, but I needed to get my renewal in before the end of the month. They sent me the online PALS and BLS material (which did take several hours to complete but I was trying to meet them halfway), and I showed up the following day for a skills assessment only (vs. originally scheduled full day class). I finished both renewals within an hour. My instructor was John and he is great; friendly, informative, and a good instructor. I'd highly recommend Lifesaver for those in the North East LA and surrounding areas. read more

I recently took a EKG course here and I enjoyed it because the instructor John S was amazing at teaching. The course duration was from 8-3pm, it was a pretty lengthy course but John made it fun and interesting. At least the chairs were comfy so no complaints about having to sit all day. We were allowed a break every hour and there were snacks + coffee provided. The facility is super clean and covid precautions were implemented. Masks must be on while indoors. Plenty of parking space available and it is in a good location with plenty of food choices nearby to grab a quick lunch break. My favorite place to come for CPR renewal! I come here every 2 years when it is time to renew my card and I have come here for the last 8 years or so. The location is a bit tricky sometimes as the entrance is easy to miss. Parking here is tight, so come early for parking. Registering is super easy online. Yo can also order the CPR book online or buy it there on the spot. I bought the book, but to be perfectly honest, you will not even need it. All the answers you need are part of the lecture if you pay attention. They now have high tech dummies for you to test on now. It measures you compression depth and rate and shows if you are in the right depth and rate. Also new now, there are no longer physical CPR cards. It is all electronic and will be emailed to you with a link to claim the card, so make sure your email is correct. The teachers here are excellent! They are super informative and teach well and explain things to everyone also. Do not be scared if you are not a nurse or doctor, they will make sure you understand everything well. They also offer other classes such as PALS, ACLS, ECG/Pharm. I have not taken the other classes here, so I cannot comment, but the BLS/CPR class is highly recommended!! read more

I recently received my ACLS certification from here. It was just short of 200 dollars and 50 dollars for the book which is mandatory. The class was long, it ran from 8-5:30. You must take a pretest before class (around 60 questions) and print out your score of over 75% and bring it to class in order to take the class. The place itself is very nice. They have coffee, tea, and snacks in the back and the facility is very clean. The supplies they have were high tech and really helped with making the codes as realistic as possible because they had all the supplies you'd have in a code including a real heart monitor that ran live strips. I'm a student nurse who took this class to be more competitive when I graduate and to also touch up on cardiac. I found my teacher John to be very difficult. I felt the class is more geared towards working healthcare professionals who are taking this as a review. There was soooo much information and at the end you do a code situation alone where you're tested on knowing rhythms, defibrillator/cardiovert, what meds/dosage you're going to give and if that doesn't work what are you going to do next. & it goes super quick so you have to think on your feet and it better be right or that's it. This was extremely intimidating being that this was all new material to me. Overall, I passed (after multiple anxiety attacks lol) I felt that John was extremely intelligent and badass and pushed me to really learn and think on my feet but was very difficult if this is your first time. read more

Lifesaver CPR was such a fantastic experience! As a long time NICU nurse, I am familiar and comfortable with NRP. Moving to L.A. and my new NICU job here required me to obtain PALS certification. This is one of the programs taught and tested at Lifesaver. I was completely intimidated by PALS and was in full stressed out mode when I arrived for my hands on skills check off. Firstly, I had been communicating with Chante at the front desk all week. My new job gave me a narrow time window to get this done, and Chante was awesome at staying in touch with me and setting up the required skills check off. She and the instructor created a 630 am Saturday appointment for me! So accommodating. Also, when I arrived at my appointment I was about 10 minutes late due to my own poor planning for navigating an unfamiliar town. The instructor greeted me warmly still and invited me in. She guided me through the skills checkoff, and her teaching was amazing. She talked me through the various scenarios and gave practical advice for remembering the interventions. After I passed, I was so relived that I actually cried. This kind woman hugged me and offered me the opportunity to come back and sit in the full length class at no extra charge, which I will absolutely make good use of. I can't say enough about the excellent customer service and education that I received. And the icing on the cake? My instructor was the owner of the business, Bethanie. Yes, that's right. The actual owner was the one who came in on a Saturday at 630 am. Unheard of. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and book your CPR, PALS, or NRP here! You won't regret it. read more

Had car problems, they didn't answer the phone, go there late refuse to give me money back, said I had to pay 15 dollars to Reschedule, or 20 more online corse called out from work to come here drive 40 miles. There are closer, cheaper classes that are more Accommodating. Don't Recommend this place. And they don't have classes every day only a few times a month. They book is 15 dollars extra and in la it's free with the cost of admission, the hands to heart in Burbank is better they don't take payment a head of time and are 60 read more

I took both John for PALS and Bethanie for NRP in the past month in preparation for applying for jobs as I finish nursing school! Note: don't forget about the pretest you have to complete for both classes!! I had classmates have to reschedule because they forgot/didn't read in the email that you need to do a pretest ahead of time. Going into PALS, you have to first complete a 50-60 question pretest that scared the willies out of me!!! It can take up to 1-2 hrs to complete if you're not super savvy and familiar with critical care, so make sure to plan ahead and not procrastinate like I did Since it took me so long to study for and complete the pretest, I was not sure if I'd pass the in-person course after all. However, I shouldn't have worried. John made sure to highlight what specific information we'd need to know and what we'd be tested on during the practical part of our exam. Even though it was a 8hr class, it didn't feel painfully long. He gave a fair amount of snack/bathroom breaks, along with one 30 min lunch break too. You conclude with simulating a PALS situation as team leader, which was intimidating, but he lets you carry your mini PALS booklet with flowcharts from the textbook, which is a lifesaver for referencing. At the end of the day, I really shouldn't have worried as much. If you want to learn, you'll pass just fine!! The instructors are looking to help you, not hurt you as you learn. :-) Bethanie for NRP was terrific! Very sweet and personable. The bonus with NRP is that you can do the first didactic portion online, so you only have to come in for a 4 hour practical instead of 8 or 9 hrs total, like you do for PALS. Bethanie gave us plenty of helpful pointers and advice, and made it feel safe for all of us. For three out of four of us, it was our first time, and I think she did a great job easing our nerves and also making sure to clarify information for us. I felt safe to ask plenty of questions, which she answered thoroughly and helpfully. I am looking forward to renewing my NRP with her again! As a final year nursing student, I was intimidated going into these classes, since I am not yet a working professional. However, AHA's program does a great job of teaching you, and Lifesaver Ed has definitely helped to prepare me for emergency situations! The best BLS and ACLS courses out there. My hospital has their own in-house cpr courses but they are always subpar and I never feel prepared or that I learned anything. I work in an ICU and have to be ready to code patients any time. I pay out out of pocket to take the Lifesaver education course in Pasadena because their program and instructors are fabulous!
