I wanted to add some positivity to this yelp page. We LOVE our pediatrician, Dr. McCormick. Her friendly and upbeat demeanor fills the room, and she is very knowledgeable. We listen and do everything she recommends. She also shares her own experiences as a mother. We love that! I think patients and their parents need to be more reasonable about the front office. They are doing their best under a highly stressful or pressured environment. They are working with a very vulnerable population: children. We have to understand that we are in a post-COVID world and the healthcare industry was hit the hardest. While some policies are "stone-age", the only thing that matters is that our children are getting top quality care and I feel this practice does that. Just to note, that policies take a while to change/implement, so patience is necessary when it comes to all doctor's offices. My child is a newer patient but every question, and after-hours call has been answered. I am able to come in anytime to see her doctor or any available doctor. All the doctors are great and have the most up to date care. The CS portal is user friendly and has all the information I need for my child. Let's remember that healthcare workers are people too. Treat them with kindness especially since they are treating our children with their patience, expertise and kindness. read more

Firstly we love our pediatrician, Dr. Sarah Salamon. She is a doctor but also a mom so she had amazing bedside manner and she talks to the kids during the appointment and asks them about school, their favorite foods etc. Pros: our doctor, it is easy to get a referral for any specialist, office is big and clean. Cons: wait times on the phone can be horrendous, the nurses who call you back aren't always the most knowledgable (some are great, some are so-so), the "new system" they use as a result of joining Cedars requires you to fill out forms and sign digital docs on the Ipad everytime you come. read more

We love our doctor, but the medical records policy is in the stone-age. We (like every single parent who comes to the office,) need the record of vaccination which is required for school enrollment. We requested this be emailed..."Nope, impossible. You must come and pick it up." I had to drive to the office, park, get the the doctors office, wait at the counter, request a single piece of paper to be printed. When I asked, why on earth could you not have emailed this? The assistant said: "we dont have an office email account." For the love of god, get a god d*mn gmail account to send regular records like this. If email is not secure enough to this kind of super-top-secret information, then have the parents sign a waiver saying they know email can be hacked. (hint: everyone would sign it and you would have less irritated people showing up at your office.) To continue such policies regarding basic records is very disrespectful of the value of people's time and often there is an implicit and sexist assumption that there is one parent at home who has time to waste like this. Our pediatrician Dr. Andrews is amazing! He is so knowledgeable, kind, and has great energy. He is such a delight to work with that my son pretends to be him when playing with his toy doctor kit. He really cares about his patients. We've never had to wait too long for him to come in. Also, shout out to the nursing staff always gets back to us if we leave messages. This is our third pediatrician, and we're here to stay! We've been here for two years and have been really happy with the quality care. read more

We love Dr. Mackanic! She has been our son's pediatrician since his birth a few months ago. She came highly recommended by a friend of mine who has been using her for her daughter for over a year. We've already seen her multiple times, both for routine visits and for extra ones to ease our first time parent worries. That's one thing we appreciate about this office - if your child's issue is potentially pressing enough, they find someway to get you in asap. Dr. Mackanic is very direct and informative. Our appts never feel rushed and we always get our millions of questions answered. She's very encouraging with us parents and so sweet with our son. She doesn't try to discourage our ideas and gives us honest pros/cons of anything we bring up to discuss with her. I really like the portal this office uses. If you love obsessing over your kid's health data like I do, you'll love the portal, too lol. It always updates really quickly following each appt. The office runs very efficiently. We've rarely had to wait more than a few minutes to see the doctor even when we're early. It's clean. The support staff are all very nice. Sometimes there can be a line to get in/out of the garage (entrance on Belafonte), so plan accordingly when coming to your appt. We also saw Dr. Chapman in the hospital and Dr. Andrew for our first post-birth visit because Mackanic was on vacation during that week. Both of those doctors were awesome, too! read more

I'm pretty fed up with this place and we've only been going there since July (3 months). First I'll say I think the doctors give quality care. I really trust Drs McCormick and Salamon. And that's the end of the positive review. Dr Salamon charged us at the highest level possible for a minor, common issue that was found during my child's routine wellness visit. It didn't require any extra time for evaluation or prescriptions and yet she tagged it on as an additional charge at a level 5!! FYI, there are 4 levels in billing 2-5 and most "sick" visits that aren't complicated are billed as a 3. I'm a provider myself and know that this isn't ethical billing. I could never bill that high for this issue - so she must have billed based on her time, but her time was spent on the wellness exam which is a separate charge that is fully covered by insurance. So now I'm stuck with a huge coinsurance bill over $100! The provider I saw before Salamon billed us as a sick visit when it was actually a well visit and so we were charged for that by our insurance as well! When I fought the charge they admitted it was wrong but needed the doctor to go in a fix it which she never did and no one ever called me back, so now I have to call AGAIN. But wait, you can't actually talk to anyone in that office for any reason- your call goes through a call center where they relay your message and promise a call back that never happens. Speaking of never getting called back, I tried to make an appt for a single missing vaccine and no one has called me back to schedule and it's been over a week. I literally just need a nurse visit and don't even need to see the MD but I'm sure they'll make me see her just so they can bill for a visit. I know how practices like this work and it's not right. I'll be looking for a new office, I suggest you do the same. read more

I have waited to write this review, due to the fact our doctor was still working here. But now that this person is leaving, and we have diligently done our research, while giving them the benefit of the doubt along the way, it is time for this review and warning. Beginning with administration. 1. To make an appointment, you need to call. You're on hold for 10 minutes minimum. And you cannot leave a voicemail. The average time to get a call back from the nurse was about 8-9 hours, and you absolutely will miss that call, if you have anything else going on that day. Despite an optimistic outlook and fair treatment by Sharon, the front desk person, she is met with a staff that gives a general chaotic/unorganized vibe that unfortunately she gets mixed into. 2. Our experience with the nurses was not good. When coming in to give vaccines or do vitals, it was not appropriate bedside manner for children. The last time we came in for vaccines, the nurse came in abruptly, zero subtlety, and even proceeded to aggressively tear a sticker off the mirror (given to our child by the office itself), before administering the vaccine. Needless to say, it was jarring for our child and he did not even have a chance to have a tolerable time with the process. 3. The third and final point - and by far the biggest issue - is difficult to even type, as it caused my family and I such emotional distress that we will have a hard time ever trusting another medical professional. Our doctor never had a clear idea of which vaccines our child had. She would go through her computer frantically and give a guess. Once we came home we realized the paper records she would give at the end of the visit did not match the records they had on their computer. Our child had 5 prevnar 13 vaccine records ( they only need 4) and records of vaccines he had not yet received. Even more troubling, when they switched systems, his records didn't get properly merged so we have absolutely no idea what is in his body. When we asked to send the records over to our new office, they included records of vaccines he has not even had. Please do your due diligence and thank you. read more

The wait time was too long!!! I suspect they added a patient but there was no given reasonable explanation for the time we spent waiting in the treatment room. It was absolutely horrible!!! 8/27 3:20pm appointment. When did we check in? It was well before the 2:50pm time your text reminder wanted us to arrive. When did we check out? Look it up!!! I feel taken advantage of and penalized for being early to my appointment. Its not ok and patient deserve to be treated so much better! In the future Ive learned my lesson not to arrive early, and to make a fuss if your office is behind schedule.The time with the doctor seeing my child felt disproportionate to the waiting. Do better Huntington Heath Pediatrics!!! Do better with your scheduling and communication. Prioritize those who show up on time. I am BEYOND frustrated with this office. I had an appointment today for my daughter at 2:40pm. I requested the day off of work since it was in the afternoon and even had my daughter skip out on her tutoring class just to make it to this appointment since they are always given so far out. I called on the way because of traffic and let them know that I am running about 10 mins which is the grace period patients are given. I LITERALLLY walked in at 2:51pm. LITERALLY...and they said you are late and we have to reschedule you (as if it's so easy to take another day off of work) I understand I was 1 minute over the grace period but to see me LITERALLY run into the office with my 2 children and deny my appointment because I was 1 minute past my grace period is beyond me. I have nothing against my pediatrician. She has been wonderful. But the way I was treated today by the lady at the front desk was very disheartening. After many years I will be taking my 2 children elsewhere. read more

The doctors and staff are great. My daughter have been coming here since she was born and now she's five years old. Why the 1 star? Same as what the other reviewers had mentioned. Hard to get appointments when my child is sick. A few mistakes and I'm not sure if I can continue with them. First incident was when my daughter turned four. I checked out with the front desk and one of the ladies told me I don't need to make a five yo appt since she's all up to date with her vaccine and can come in only when she's sick. I was very concerned that she doesn't need her annual visits. After a few months after she turned five, a few mama friends told me that they were late om their kids five year old annual appts. And I asked them and they all confirmed that they go in. So I called them and they were able to fit me in. This is 6 months after my daughters 5th birthday. Second incident was when my daughter had her uti. I called the office and the nurse did call me back. It was on a Sunday so she told me to take her to urgent care. The doctor there tested her urine which took a few days and prescribed her antibiotics. Well it's day 7 now and she's been having side effects. She's been throwing up all of the meds which I think may not be working. She's in pain and her tummy and vajaja hurts. Frequent urination. I called at 8am asking to speak to a nurse about changing prescription or something. It's now 2:30pm and still no response. I've called 3 times into the office. And they just said we don't know where are you in the queue. I am just a number to them. Update: after waiting the entire day for a nurse to callback which they didn't, I decided to take my daughter to yet again to urgent care. The oncall doc there saw the lab results from the last urgent care visit and the prescription which I took a pic of it before heading there. And one look, my pediatrician made a huge mistake by prescribing my daughter a non resistant antibiotic to the strain. Wtf! At this point she's been taking the meds for 7 days. And now to find out her pediatrician made a huge mistake by prescribing her meds that don't work is a huge blow to me. I didn't even think to look. I trusted them! I'm now switching doctors for sure. read more

The process of scheduling an appointment for a sick child is atrocious. A 45-minute wait on hold led me to a voicemail-full mailbox and then dropped my call. So I call back for another 45 minute wait that finally leads me to the scheduling center, which is not even located at the doctor's office. I left two messages on a Monday with the scheduler regarding my sick child, and was never called back. Tried again the following day, now the situation more urgent, and speak to the scheduler who says she will label my call as urgent. I finally received a phone call from the triaging nurse about an hour later. If you want to book an appointment with your child's pediatrician, forget about it. You just see whichever doctor is available. So here I am now, days later with my child who is even more sick, who should have received care the first time I called. We love our child's pediatrician, but the practice is being mismanaged. Things are not efficient here. I do understand that the practice was acquired by Cedars-Sinai, and since then, things have been different. This was not a one time thing. We have been through this process of scheduling several times now and nothing has improved, it has only gotten worse. They must be overbooking patients in this practice, because it is a fight to be able to be seen. It is stressful and anxiety-inducing to have to deal with this process. It should not be this hard to get care for your child. It should not be this hard to reach one's doctor. read more

I hate to write this review, as I'm reluctant to categorize anyone or anything as negative based on limited experience. However since we've been coming here for almost 10 years, since our first child was born, this review is being written out of a sense of obligation to parents who are looking to find a human and caring relationship with their doctor office and unfortunately will not find that at Huntington Pediatrics. We moved and even travelled a distance to stay at this facility because the doctors are really good. Our main doctor is Sarah Salamon and she has been consistently wonderful, though we can't see her unless we book 3-4 months in advance. We've also had doctor Peggy is was also just really wonderful. The quality of medical care has been great enough to keep us coming back despite the recurring and disheartening issues with the practice. The office is really fear based and anxious parents are turned away almost every time we visit. Last time we were there, the nervous parents of a 5 month old were turned away for being late to their appointment. They were shocked. We've spoken with many parents over the years who really despise the way the office is run, and many have left as a result. Sure everything is fine if you are ok with making your appointment months in advance and yes, being on time is important at this facility - they have no problem turning you away for being late - it's almost unreal how willing they are, maybe they are overbooked and need the time? I don't know but there are a lot of upset parents and it feels awful to watch it happen. Now, if you're looking for a pediatrician, you have kids and know how easy it is to have things go south at the last minute. We try our best but things happen. We were turned away after being almost caught in a pile up on the freeway, and after calling in to let them know about our situation. We got there 18 mins late (they have a 15 minute policy) and we were turned away (with a few others in the same boat). Our kids were obviously in the car and we were all pretty shaken up. There was ZERO concern for our well-being and in fact we were met with such a blind dismissal, it was hurtful. Now, I don't know about you, but I wouldn't mind going to a practice who would want to help us after this ordeal, or even ask after our condition. Sadly, there is no humanity left in this place to allow for any kindness to seep through the red tape. I was able to discuss this with management, though they were not open in any way to listening to a patient perspective. There seems to be some boiler plate script that involves the words "I understand" but with all meaning stripped from those 2 simple words. I get a feeling that a lot of the staff wish it weren't run this way either. We are all just locked into an ugly system of "efficiency" over the kindness and caring one hopes to receive for their children. Sadly, this is not the kind of doctor's office that feels like they are on your side. It's truly sad for me to write that after all these years. I am not sure where to find a pediatrician office that still has to actually give a darn, but unfortunately, Huntington Pediatrics is far from it. If you're looking for a caring practice, I'm writing this review to tell you to keep looking. I wish I had put 10 years into a practice that gave a d*mn about my family. I was coming here for a little over two years with Dr. Zurabyan. Though things were ok at first, then things took a turn downhill! My husband took my daughter to her 6 month checkup and of course I notice he didn't have a follow up appointment. I thought it was odd, but couldn't remember if my son had another until his 1 year, so I called and actually spoke to the doctor. She informed me this appointment(9 month) did not require any shots, and as long as my daughter is doing well she didn't mind her missing that appointment . Literally told me that! I scheduled one anyways because why not, but once the appointment came my family unfortunately had covid and had to miss. No biggie right, her DOCTOR said it wasn't needed. We have been in twice since because of congestion, still prior to her appointment today for her one year. My husband who works overnight, had to drop our son off at school and also take her to her appointment because I had a meeting. I had t realized how late he would be running if running late at all, as he hadn't contacted me. She proceeds to call me after 20 mins pass to inform that the visit is cancelled and that she needs to see her because I "missed " her 9 month checkup, and she needs her one year shots, BUT she can't see her until three months out. I inform her, NO YOU TOLD ME PERSONALLY it's not that big of a deal to skip the appointment, he's running late and will be there so we didn't miss anything . Totally understand if he's late and you cancel, not anyones fault, but since I can't get an appointment I will find another doctor. Also, neverrrrr have been late to any other appointment , for my son or daughter! This lady had the gall to actually raise her voice and tell me "you had an appointment, you missed it!" Umm no he's there, again, LATE like she always has been previously like wtf!? Again, if you're stating you cannot see my daughter until 3 fucking months from now yes, I will find another doctor because you're not the only damn pediatrician mam! I speak with my husband who tells me she had enough time to try and scold him about being late. Asked him why he was late which he politely let her know, for her to tell him " my husband leaves early and drops our kids off and it's not fair to me that you're late" ! First off we don't care about wtf your husband does! Second who tf do you think you are to talk to raise your voice at patients, try to scold them about tardiness (when you're late 90% of the time) and be completely rude !? She also tells him he wouldn't be able to find another doctor in the winter! He seen her also make an unpleasant gesture as she walked away as if he did something wrong ! People are late it sucks but it happens . You do not, do NOT have the right to talk to patients in that manner regardless. And since we can't "find a doctor" my daughter will see her new PCP next Thursday! read more

Our newborns first welcome visit was quite nice with Dr. Salamon. She was very kind and very communicative. Our follow-up visit with Dr. Mackanic however was very upsetting. Once she learned that we chose to opt out of vaccinations done with our daughter, we were dismissed and asked to look for another clinic. This clinic has a policy to practice ALL vaccinations with your child and parental choice is not an option here. Never felt more uncomfortable at a clinic. Hope know one has to experience what our family has. read more

We loved our pediatrician and the providers but we've experienced a string of issues over the last six months, some were minor annoyances and some were serious enough to cause us to leave the practice. We discussed these issues with the management, while trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but ultimately they weren't resolved to our satisfaction. 1. It is impossible to get through to anyone on the phone. You will be on hold for at least 30-40 minutes, sometimes more. Imagine doing this with a sick, crying baby for whom you're trying to get an appointment. The option for a callback disconnects you. If you've been waiting on hold, and finally opt for a callback only to get disconnected, you'll have to wait all over again. This issue was flagged for the practice months ago and still it had not been resolved by the time we decided to leave. If they decide a nurse has to call you back, you will not be given a time window in which to expect that call. So if you're attending to a sick kid who needs your attention, you'll miss the call and there's no way to call the nurse back without waiting on hold again. 2. If you finally get through to someone it's close to impossible to get an appointment with any provider (forget about trying to get your own provider). Because of the lack of appointments, I was regularly advised to call urgent care for issues that should have been treated and monitored by my child's pediatrician. 3. You cannot pay your child's bill online, even though this option is written on the statement sent by mail. You have to call and give an actual person all your credit card information or write it down and mail it in, neither of which is secure. You also cannot make an appointment online even though it appears as an option on the portal. You'll only find out after clicking through multiple screens and you get to a dead end. This points to a lack of attention to security in the first case, and convenience in the second. 4. The most serious issue for us were the discrepancies in our kids vaccination records that took multiple rounds of requests to get resolved. The official record they gave us was missing vaccines we knew had been administered. When I called, they said those vaccines had been administered but couldn't explain why they weren't documented in the version of records I received. Other vaccines had not been administered for some reason, though we've never declined any, and they again couldn't explain why, so we had to get multiple shots at one time to get our kid caught up. Lastly, some vaccinations had not been submitted to the state registry and no amount of reasoning could convince the MA I was working with that it was in fact the pediatric office's responsibility to submit these vaccinations and correct them. Instead of offering to look into it, I was simply told she doesn't submit the information so they couldn't fix it. The MA didn't understand the process, hadn't been trained on it, and was uninterested in helping resolve the issue on their end. I had to escalate the issue to resolve the matter, after already spending hours trying to get an accurate accounting of my kids vaccination history. Again, the providers themselves were phenomenal but unfortunately the issues with the management of the practice forced us to leave. read more

Not sure what is happening with this office anymore. It's gone down the craps. I can't get a hold of anyone. I am on hold for more than an hour at a time. I can't leave a message to get a call back. It's nonsense. I have to go to urgent care everytime I need to see a doctor because I can't get a hold of our doctors. I am on hold now. Estimated wait time is 52 minutes. Who has time to wait an hour to ask a question???? I went on their website to see if I can send a message through CS link and it's not allowing me to. While I am on hold it asks me if I want to leave a message and get a call back to press 1. I press 1 and it says that the mailbox doesn't accept any messages. What a disaster. This place is not what it used to be. this is so disappointing. I used to love their doctors and front office. Now I can't get a hold of anyone. Absolutely ridiculous. I hope someone from the office can read this and figure it out. I know they were going through a transition but that was about a year ago. No more excuses. Done. Covid done. We loved our kids previous doctor and the practice before they were acquired by Cedars Sinai. However, now it's nearly impossible to get through their phone system to a staff member or get the care you need when your child is sick. They are constantly understaffed and do not appear to be making any attempts to fix this. read more

This practice is great!!! We are patients of Dr. Salamon, who is terrific! But we've seen other doctors there too and they all are fabulous. Their nurses and medical assistants are all good, some just nicer than others. Front desk staff is lovely too, the lady with British accent is actually our favorite! Maybe since last few reviews she softened up, but we love her! She's been the most helpful both by phone and in person. read more

All of these doctors work part time which means it is nearly impossible to get a reasonable appointment time. My daughter wasn't gaining weight when she was first born which required us to go to the office about 4 times. Each time we saw different providers because my doctor wasn't available. Then at 1 week old my daughter developed a pretty bad eye infection. I called and tried to get an urgent appointment only be given dates 2 weeks away! They said they will have the on call nurse call back. After 5 hours of waiting she never called and I had to just show up to the office out of desperation to get my daughter help. Now at 10 months my daughter is sick with a cough and fever. It was a Saturday when she starting vomiting after a feeding. Since they has Saturday clinic I called to see if she could be seen. Again they were "booked" and suggested I go to an ER or urgent care because they were too busy. Next appointment offered was 2 weeks away. Mind you it's flu season with horrible wait times. I can only imagine how many harmful bacteria I would expose my already sick daughter in a ER waiting room. Lastly, I had to reschedule one of my daughters routine physicals because of my husband's job. But the office staff said If I rescheduled they could only offer an appointment 3 months later!! Each time I complained to management and the manger told me that these doctors are not available because they all work part time. She said it's the most common complaint and there is really nothing the office staff can do. In addition their solution is to have the on-call nurse to call you back. But she does not call in a timely manner. In these times mentioned above, half the day went by without a call. When I finally talked to the nurse she apologized saying she had too many calls. They don't take new patients because they are busy but they take newborns.... which doesn't make any sense because they are not available for your newborn. This office really needs to hire more providers so they can properly take care of their patients and give quality service to the patients they committed to. It's an awful feeling to know your child/baby is sick and you can not rely on their pediatrician. Instead must rely on a local ER/urgent care room. Needless to say, I finally changed to a different pediatrician who is awesome! My daughter had an allergic reaction on the weekend. The pediatrician called back within 20 minutes, gave me detailed instructions, reassured me, and then told me to come 1st thing on Monday for an office visit. What a difference!!!! read more

This review is long overdue, but we have been coming here for the last two months since our son was born and have nothing but great things to say about the doctors and staff here! We had initially selected a different doctor in the practice to be our son's pediatrician, but due to us needing a more urgent visit, we were scheduled to see Dr. Zurabyan. However, this was probably the best thing that ever happened because she is truly AMAZING and we ended up staying with her for all of our remaining appointments. Dr. Zurabyan is one of those doctors that truly listens to your concerns and is so empathetic to parents' concerns. She has excellent bedside manner, and is very compassionate and intentional with her care. As first time parents, my husband and I obviously had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Our son has had to make several virtual and in-person visits to see Dr. Zurabyan for various reasons. Most pediatricians will discount parents and just say "your child has colic", but she is so respectful of our concerns and never makes us feel like we are crazy for thinking our child is going through some real pain. We have called into this office at least once a week with questions and concerns, and the staff here are all incredibly kind and patient. No matter how busy Dr. Zurabyan is, she always takes the time to listen patiently and address ALL of our concerns. I know she has a full schedule of patients but she never rushes us and is always careful about making sure we feel at ease and confident about the next steps we are going to take. Their office is great about picking up the phone and returning phone calls, or at least having a nurse call back to address your needs. In summary, I highly recommend this practice with no reservations. We have had several encounters with this office and it has always been nothing but positive, from Sharon at the front desk who is always so friendly and greets every patient who walks into the office, to the staff who check patients out and make appointments for you. read more

They are awful! It takes 30 min for them to answer the phone and then you have to wait weeks for an appointment. When I was very sick and admitted to the hospital the doctor did not check on me or help me understand what was happening. I will not return here. read more

We love Dr. Zurabyan. But everything else about our experience here has been nightmarish. When my children first became patients of the wonderful Dr. Zurabyan, the office was cordial but cold, nurses just fine, and when called, NPs or triage nurses would get back to you at least the same day. For the past several months, this office has been impossible to communicate with. I have called twice this week for help for my very sick toddler, and NEVER received a call back. I even asked the office to tell the nurses "he's very sick, I really need to talk to someone, and this is the second time I've called and never heard back from anyone." And still nothing. We worked with Huntington Health Physicians Pediatricians for the first 2.5 years of my daughter's life. Our doctor was Dr. Gildersleeve on the recommendation of a friend of mine. From the very first appointment after she was born, until the day we decided to leave the practice, the experience was wretched (and at times completely dehumanizing). We stayed because switching doctors can be so incredibly difficult with two working parents, but thankfully we are now working with Kids & Teens in La Canada and are much happier. This was our first child and we had her at the Del Mar Birth Center. The docs at Huntington Health were aware of this because we met with Dr. Gildersleeve before the birth to be sure we would be a good fit. My daughter was born after 5pm on a Friday. We called on Saturday to advise of the birth and were told we couldn't speak to a doctor until Monday. On Sunday we were getting concerned about our baby eating and milk supply so we called back and the answering service treated us horribly and berated us for treating this like an emergency. When we finally got through on the Monday, the person working the front desk berated us for letting so many days pass without speaking with a doctor. She told us we needed to be in the office immediately to have an appointment. We drove straight to the offices and were told our daughter had jaundice and would need to be admitted into the NICU. I am a full-time research scientist, and at this point one of the other doctor's in the practice was on the record as having said: "I can't believe she is a scientist and still decided to have her baby at a birth center instead of a hospital." For anyone who has actually read evidence-based science about birthing, this is a dangerously naive perspective. It is also obviously quite insulting. Our daughter was thankfully ok within two days and hasn't had any serious illness since then. But for every wellness/vaccine visit, we felt poorly treated by everyone in the practice. The British woman at the front was always pretty nice. But the nurses made us feel foolish for our questions and, to be honest, the doctor's always treated us like our daughter was either developmentally delayed OR we were lying about her progress on the development checks during our appointments. It always felt like a standardized test instead of an appointment meant to care for our child. When we finally found a new practice to move to, we called the front desk and asked if we could have our records forwarded because we would be moving to a new practice. The receptionist said absolutely nothing to us about our decision to move practices, and just rudely told us that we needed to take care of this ourselves through the patient portal. In the end, I naively thought that a pediatrician relationship could be a lifelong relationship for us and our children. This was as far from that as I could have imagined. read more

This review does not reflect how great the doctors are at this practice. We have seen almost every doctor and they are fantastic. We love the doctors, but have found a new practice due to some of the staff. Over the last year or so, we have noticed a huge change in the office. Being on hold for 10-15 minutes to make an appointment, not receiving calls back, waiting 30+ minutes in the waiting room (which is difficult for an adult, much less a toddler), and rude front desk staff. All of this was tolerated because of the fantastic doctors. The finally straw that caused us to find a new practice was numerous negative encounters with a medical assistant. We are not the only family that has had issues with her, as almost all of our friends also use this practice and have felt uncomfortable with her. She should not be working with the public, much less with children. Beyond being cold/rude to parents, she is impatient with kids and has made my son anxious to go to the doctor (a place that inherently invokes anxiety for Kids). Pediatric nurses/MAs should be overly warm, friendly, and understanding; she has been the opposite of all of those things. For the sake of the awesome doctors, I hope that whoever manages the practice can make some changes. read more

I have been taking my children here since they were born, and I really like their pediatrician, but the front desk staff have become incredibly - and I mean shockingly - rude and dismissive lately. I don't know if they've added new untrained staff or someone at the front desk is burnt out, but the level of rudeness I encountered recently when trying to talk to them and resolve their scheduling mistake, has been shocking. HHP did not have this culture of rudeness before. read more

Dr. Sarah is so lovely! I loved my daughter's pediatrician but we she was one year old, her doctor left the practice. We had to search for a new doctor and we were referred to Dr. Sarah. She is kind, compassionate, thorough and efficient. They have always been able to accommodate us for same day visits when I had a concern. I have seen a few of the other doctors in the practice for same day visits and they all seem great. The clinic itself and the rooms need more updating and do not always seem clean. read more

My first time here was when my daughter was only 2 weeks old. I made an appointment to see Dr. Gildersleeve because she was the Dr i chose before giving birth. I thought she would be the one to care for my daughter but the first interaction was beyond bad compare to me and my husband's expectations for her. We were greeted well at the front and when we got into the room the assistant was ok not too friendly. After, checking her weight and height--she told us that the Dr would be with us shortly--After 20 mins Dr. Gildersleeve showed up, asked us continuous questions. She sounds very mono-tone not too happy at all--she then check my daughter very quickly and spoke super fast--we couldn't catch on what she was saying and she didn't even give us a chance to ask questions. As first time parents we have questions/concerns too. The second time we came back here was for a 1 month follow up and I made an appointment with Dr. Whang, she is by far the best pediatrician. She is very sweet and gentle with our daughter. She takes her time with us and she even ask us if we have any questions and take the time to answer it. We made an appointment with Dr. Whang for our daughter's 2 month appointment but however, i needed to change her appointment to a different day because the original appointment was not going to work for us. And this is when everything went downhill. I called the office many many times and every time i keep getting put on HOLD for over 20 mins! The last time i called, Finally someone picked up with a British accent--i told her that i need to change my appointment, right before i get to finish talking--the lady RUDELY put me on HOLD! I was very frustrated and i try to keep hanging on the line because i need to speak to someone and put in a complaint about this calling in issue--Omg, i was on the line for 30 mins, believe it or not!! All i can say is that even though Dr. Whang is nice but everything in general at the place she works just really isn't working out for us. Sadly, we are switching to a different Dr that is much closer to where we live, a place with employees that has more manners on phone or off, and especially the parking area that is FREE OF CHARGE. read more

Our 3-year daughter has been a patient since birth. She was visited in the hospital by the on-call pediatrician. Her doctor is Dr. Mary Ellen McCormick but when she is not available we are more than comfortable seeing any of the other doctors there as they are all so wonderful and thorough. Being new parents, we were constantly reassured we were handling situations correctly and were given tips to help. Dr. McCormick is so friendly and fun with our daughter that our daughter talks about her all the time. Picking this office with its staff has been one of the best decisions we've made for our daughter. read more

I haven't seen any doctor here because I couldn't get in the door. I felt like the fat ugly girl being bounced from a club. My son was sick, and our regular pediatrician was unavailable so I thought try these guys, since I was looking to change our doc anyway. Here's my phone conversation in trying to get an appointment. Me: Hi, I'm wondering if I can get an appointment for my sick son. He'd be a new patient. Is Dr. Salamon taking new patients? Receptionist: Well, don't know, what's your insurance? Me: Anthem PPO. Receptionist: How old is your son? Me: Five. Receptionist: Um, no. Just very off-putting that I need to declare my insurance and age of patient before I even get a word out. I guess we don't get to see Dr. Salamon unless we're double insured with a newborn. Maybe we need to be sickly or cash only? They should just ask, "How profitable are you going to be to us?" Hey, I understand everyone needs to make a buck. But man, do you have to be so in-our-face about it? Geez. read more

Dr Angela Zurabyan was our pediatrician when we lived in Pasadena. She takes the time to really get to know you as patients and patients family. She is very thorough and thoughtful about her care. And we used to run into her all the time when our and about and she was exactly the same kind person in her personal life as she was in the office! Highly recommend and we so wish we could continue to have her as our pediatrician! read more

One of the worst Pediatric Groups, it was our first - and we dropped them: 1. They missed important vaccination shots on-time, later identified as mandatory by California Department of Health. Even kids in third world countries get this on-time. 2. The wait to see the doctor was always long, 45m on average. It made no sense why they'd make parents wait for an hour - in the middle of a work day. 3. Blame game. Issues with not being able to get vaccination stocks into clinic. We were told their office manager caused clerical errors regarding ordering vaccines. 4. During emergency, doctor on-call would take up to two hours to respond. 5. Major billing issues with health care provider. 6. Most important of all, non-responsive. I would never take my child back here again. read more

Good doctors; BAD office staff. We've had good experiences with Dr. Sarah Solomon over the past year we've been going to her, and others I know share similar opinions of the other doctors at HMF. Dr. Solomon is relatively on-time for appointments, spends enough time with us to answer our questions, and I appreciate the office's use of technology (doctors use tablet PCs) to efficiently record data and even show us real-time growth trends and such on-screen. However, much of these experiences are consistently overshadowed by the unprofessional, generally irritable and elitest office staff. You don't dare ask to change an appointment to a time that works for you, or call and try to get an appointment in the next two weeks. Even the dr. makes it clear how "in demand" they are and how crazy you are for asking. Have two kids who need appointments around the same time of month? Best they can do is one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. Additionally, they can't seem to get our records or billing right. They constantly are asking for the same insurance card at each visit and did you know I just received a bill showing a $200 balance that's over 90 days late? My insurance pays it all, yet they can't seem to get that in their system and continue to send bills even though we've called and had staff, rushing to get us off the phone, say it would be handled. It's sad the doctors don't have more control to be able to hire staff that lives up to their higher level of professionalism and patient care. I put off writing about my experiences for months but after hearing similar stories from everyone I know who goes to HMF (many of my co-workers do because it accepts our insurance), I decided it was time to lay it out for others. To summarize, come for the good medical care, but don't expect a pleasant experience outside the examination room. Oh, and the parking situation is a joke, and expensive, but if you have a small car you can almost find a place to park on the roof of the building. read more

This rating is for the office staff. Well, one woman in particular. Not sure of her name but she is the British woman who checks people in. In the 3 years we've been going (or trying to go -- making an appointment means a long wait on hold, with appts starting months out), she has always been curt and rude. Today was the final straw when we arrived ONE minute late to my son's 3 year appt which I had to schedule 6 months in advance and also needed preschool forms filled out, and she refused to let us be seen. ONE MINUTE and that was due to going to the wrong address that came up in google search. My son's father had gotten there early and kept reassuring her we would be there any moment, but she kept telling him that if my son arrived past the 15 minute grace period there were no exceptions. I have loved the care from his pediatrician, Dr. Salamon, but this behavior and lack of flexibility, especially when there are so few appts available, we're in a pandemic AND dealing with getting a toddler out the door, is unacceptable. We've also had to wait entire days before hearing back from the advice nurse. Sadly, though the doctors are good, we will be looking for another practice. read more
