I am a little disappointed by my experience here. I was referred to this practice by a friend who raved about being a patient with Dr. Isiaka, which is what led me to happily pay the $300 fee. Sadly, I deeply regret visiting this office. I arrived on time and wasn't greeted or even acknowledged by the receptionist. In fact, she looked annoyed that I even bothered to come. I sat for about 35 minutes beyond my appointment time and finally decided to interact with the receptionist to ask if perhaps I was skipped or maybe even missed my call to come to the back? Needless to say, that conversation felt a bit unkind. A few minutes later, I was called in to see Dr. Robinson, her assistant was pleasant and eased the tension that I was feeling bc let's be honest, I wasn't thrilled to be there by that point. The doctor wasn't overly nice but wasn't mean either. It's hard enough to find a woman of color doctor in Los Angeles, but I'm not sure if I want a lack of warmth in a GYN. Perhaps she's kinder to a different kind of patient. She made a few recommendations and told me I could get dressed and left, never to be seen or heard from again. I wasn't even offered the option to use the restroom before we got started or after for that matter. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Somehow I managed to find a bathroom while I waited another 20 mins to be called to see the phlebotomist. Honorable mention: the nurse who took my blood was AMAZING. She was really nice to me, and it sucks that of all the people that you come into contact with at this office, only two made me feel welcomed. Best blood test I've ever had-- I didn't feel a thing and I wish I could take her to every appointment when blood needs to be drawn. After two weeks, I finally received my test results. Only one had a note from the practice explaining what those results meant. Thankfully, we live in an age of AI so chatGPT explained what my AMH results meant. All in all, I doubt I'll ever go back to this practice. Paying $300 to be treated as if my presence is a disruption isn't worth it to me. I left this office with nothing gained except negative emotions. Maybe it's not a space for young and employed women of color. Maybe it was simply too late in the day to find the strength to smile at a patient. Sadly, I will never know. read more

Inquired for new patient care and was informed about the $300 annual administrative fee. Completely appalled this is legal. When I asked specifically what the fee covers and how it differs from different doctor offices, they shared it covers admin tasks like filling out forms, and sending medical records. So just about everything other offices do for free as it's part of their J-O-B. Sounds like they're passing off the costs of paying their admin staff to the patient. Just terrible. read more

Dr Cheng is an amazing Dr., no argument about that. For the third year in a row I can't get a refill from her office. Waiting a week for them to bother to call in my refill. For the $300 administrative fee for the honor of being a patient, the headache of calling, trying to get someone on the phone, telling them that I'm on my way to pick up a physical copy of my script, day after day is not worth it. Again, she's an amazing doctor, but every time I need a refill, whether I give them a week or three days, they NEVER get it right. I end up on the phone, at my wit's end, trying to get my meds. And in the day of digital refilss, who need 3 days to send in a refill? read more

I tried to seek care form Dr. Cheng and/or Dr. Barnes. But I was told via email that neither provider had availability, despite the fact that when I called, I was only 5 weeks pregnant. That is, literally ONE week past my missed period. I don't know if it's true that neither provider has no availability, but as a new patient, you are only allowed to talk to "someone" via email. When I called to get more information, I was told, "you need to continue emailing, love." That comment speaks for itself... Although I hear great things about these providers, good luck to the few who manage to squeeze into their schedule via a email communication. read more

I should have trusted my instincts from my previous visit when Dr. Cheng made inappropriate jokes and treated me condescendingly. Unfortunately, we stayed with her for my wife's delivery. What followed was 38+ hours of labor with multiple interventions, constant monitoring disruptions, and ultimately a C-section. When I expressed concerns about the process, I was dismissed. When Dr. Cheng later acknowledged I looked "tired and traumatized," she claimed the treatment decisions "weren't mine to make." The unprofessional attitude from my previous visit continued throughout our experience. We're switching providers and would not recommend Dr. Cheng to anyone seeking evidence-based care and not defensive-based care. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Connie Cheng's for a several years now. I really like her and it breaks my heart writing this, but I will be leaving the practice and looking for another GYN. I called for a mammogram referral and was shocked to hear that because the practice was acquired by Cedars, they are now charging a $300 administrative fee. To confirm what others have posted, this fee cannot be submitted to the insurance for reimbursement. I was informed by the front office that they are trying to maintain a small practice environment and a carte blanche experience. I realize that this is not the front office fault, and I am sure they are annoyed that they have to be the one's communicating this information, so I am certain their lack of sensitivity with patients is due to their annoyance . I am just baffled by why the practitioners in this office thought that implementing a $300 administrative fee was a good idea. If I were seeing Dr. Cheng more than once a year perhaps I would consider paying something. But a $300 administrative fee, I can't find a reason to stomach that or even consider paying that amount when I already have carte blanched PPO insurance. It feels very insensitive to pass down whatever money they are loosing to their patients. Clearly not a lot of thought went into this new fee process. I won't be surprised if they loose several patients. Perhaps then will they consider removing such a ridiculous fee that has no logic to it. Another thing to point out, I never received a letter or email notifying me as to when the practice was going to start implementing such a fee. This review is for the front office staff, not the physician. I've had multiple frustrating experiences with administrative tasks, particularly regarding medical documentation for my maternity leave. I had to call several times over a week just to get a medical letter from my provider for leave approval. On my first call, a receptionist assured me it would be marked as high priority and sent to my OB's (Dr. Cheng) medical assistant. On my second call, I was told the MA was off and couldn't complete it. By the third call, I had to insist on speaking to another receptionist to ensure it was handled immediately so I could submit it to my HR department. More recently, I needed Destiny, who handles SDI claims, to complete the provider form so I could receive my leave payments. After my first call, I was told she would either message me through the provider portal or call me by the end of the day--but she never did. When I called again today (Friday), the first receptionist hung up before I could finish speaking. I called back, was put on hold for five minutes, and then spoke with Desiree, who was kind and assured me she would prioritize my request. I can only hope it gets handled promptly. Other downsides of this practice include paid parking with no validation, long wait times, and an expensive annual admin fee. The only reason I remain a patient here is Dr. Cheng--she has been absolutely phenomenal throughout my pregnancy. read more

Called to see if Dr, Chang or Dr. Barnes were taking any new clients as a first time mom I did research and it showed they had good reviews on google but when i called the office the receptionist customer care was bare minimum. As your first interaction with the establishment she was unfriendly and not helpful. She said they were all booked up which is fine but she just didn't offer any other suggestions or accommodations. This review is for Dr. Connie Cheng: I had such a horrible experience with this doctor. She was very impersonable, short, and goes off by textbook answers and suggestions. I had gone through so much with my fertility, and other doctors had advised me to ask OBs certain questions when consulting. I wanted to cover all basis and asked Dr. Cheng this specific question and she pretty much responded with "that's a bit dramatic". I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want an OB that i'll be in care of for 9 months to be dismissive and not even reassure me. This doctor literally gave me a pamphlet of printouts that I could have searched and learned on google lol. And I'm supposed to trust her to help me birth my baby safely? Uhhh NO, thank you. I also reached out to her on their online portal because I had additional questions I forgot to ask after our first consultation. Their online portal is useless by the way because 3 weeks had passed and she still never responded to my question. She was claiming "she never received it" even though her front office confirmed my message was received. I then received a call from Dr. Cheng since I expressed my disappointments to the office management and requested I be transferred to a different OB (pretty sure office management gave all this information to Dr. Cheng) and Dr. Cheng pretty much said sorry I feel this way but she no longer feels comfortable with me being her patient and referred me to see another doctor completely outside of their office. This felt very vindictive. There was no accountability there, no solution on how we can move forward effectively. Rather, she just wanted to wash her hands off my care completely. Their office also has this strange rule that if you want your actual OB to birth you, you have to do this $2,000 payment (outside of insurance) to guarantee the doctor you choose will be the one birthing you. Otherwise there's no guarantee, it could be any OB on duty. I've never heard of this before. Read other people's reviews, you'll notice a pattern about weird office fees. Overall, I did not feel heard by this doctor nor does she have any bedside manners. Luckily I was able to find another OB on my own and he was the best. No weird additional $2,000 delivering fee either. Trust me, find a different doctor and find a different office. read more

I changed to this clinic because I wanted to deliver to Huntington hospital and my original OB/GYN no longer worked with Huntington. Almost every time I come in for a visit, I will have to wait at least 30 minutes before I see my doctor. So factor that into your day. The visits will last 10 minutes and I felt that my OB wasn't as personable as my previous one. Beginning 2024 they implemented this $300 charge for ALL patients to cover for overhead (or as they would say). If that was so, I would expect them to make more of an effort to decrease wait times or at least cover parking for their patients. This charge started when I was already a month out from my due date so I sucked it up. Supposedly they told all their patients via their portal but it doesn't seem like anyone got the memo. I heard several other patients also not knowing about the charge until they showed up for their appointment. Having an online portal is something I look for in finding a doctor so I appreciate that. Even a patient who just needed a one type visit was asked to pay. You have to pay for parking and I believe it's $1.50/15 mins. So if I have to wait 30 minutes, that $3 gone for just sitting around. It's a private practice if that's important to you, but I've had way better experiences with doctors associated with large hospital networks (e.g. Keck, UCLA Health, etc). Plus the ultrasound machines seem to need an upgrade but I only have my previous OB's ultrasound to compare and I'm not a medical doctor myself. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr.Cheng and about this office and staff! They have been there for me through my whole pregnancy, advocating for me, caring for me and providing a level of support that I will forever be grateful for. Towards the end of my pregnancy I had a massive insurance issue, and Dr.Cheng & the staff rallied together to help us find a solution. In such a vulnerable time, I really felt seen and cared for as a person and not a number or $! This is priceless! In the whole process of pregnancy, Dr.Cheng has been an amazing Doctor! So present, so caring and informative. She delivered my baby just 3 weeks ago and if I ever have another baby I pray I get to have her as my Doctor again. Not only that, our whole family is so impressed by her seeing how she led and commanded the room during delivery while keeping my husband and I in the loop the whole time. The room was filled with joy and peace and it was a beautiful delivery with her leadership! I'm forever grateful to Dr.Cheng!! read more

FRAUD ALERT!! My female family member made an appointment with Dr Cheng and this scam outfit attempted to defraud her out of $300 despite her being fully covered by insurance. They told her it was an annual fee to keep the office open. Well then you need to just shut the doors closed for good. Needless to say we helped her find a legitimate office that doesnt have these fraudulent "annual administrative fees". I can see why they are having trouble keeping the office doors open, but ripping patients off and trying to force them by waiting until a day before these hard to get appointments will only get you a visit from JAAco aka The Joint Commission as well as the medical licensing board for patient care interference. I advise anyone who has been put through this to report this office to JAAco aka The Joint Commission as well as the CA Board of Medical Licensing. The Attorney General and the CA Consumer Protection Dept along with a host of other alpahbet agencies would love to know more about the crooked shenanigans this scam office has going on. Today was my first appointment at this practice, but I am so thrilled with my experience. I liked the convenience of the parking lot and the calm atmosphere of the office. I was seen within a few minutes of my appointment time for Dr. Barnes. I came in wanting to discuss treatment options for my PCOS and desire for fertility. She spent 45 (!!!) minutes answering all my questions, validating my concerns, and helping me come up with a treatment plan together. I have had issues with fatphobia in the past with doctors and often have felt that they just wanted to work to not make me fat anymore. This time, she provided information that was helpful and informative and less about simply shrinking my body. I am so excited to continue working with her and hopefully one day she can be my OB :) read more

I am not a patient but I was hoping to transfer my prenatal care to their offices as Huntington Memorial Hospital has such a good reputation. I was actually born at this hospital and I wanted to deliver my second child here now that i have a PPO insurance through my work. However, upon emailing the office, because you cannot get through to an actual person, I was SHOCKED to learn that they require a $1,500 administrative fee just to transfer my care. Transferring my care consists of the office requesting my medical records, creating a chart, and being selected by a doctor. When I requested an explanation as to why there was such a large fee and if it was meant to be paid our of pocket. They responded and let me know that it was indeed meant to be paid out of pocket and said that the fee was to cover "the large administrative burden" of transferring my care during pregnancy as I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant. I have had zero complications during my pregnancy so I'm not sure what burden they're referring to other than my health. I'm attaching a screenshot of the email so you can read it for yourself. I see that several people have had similar issues with the office and being charged absurd fees out of pocket that have no real authenticity behind them. All this to say that I was able to transfer my care to USC Keck medicine where the staff is extremely helpful. I will be reporting them to the proper authorities because this is ridiculous and unethical, they're literally taking advantage of people at their most vulnerable state. SHAME ON THEM! read more

This 1 star rating isn't for the doctors. Dr. Isiaka delivered my baby eight months ago, and my husband and I absolutely LOVED her. She was patient and amazing, and I can barely see my c section scar, she did it so well. She was lovely and kind for post natal appointments, and sensitive to my PPD and PPA issues. I dealt with Dr. Cheng while I was admitted in the hospital and also found her to be quite kind and knowledgeable. However, I canceled my annual appointment and will not be returning to this practice. Two days before my appointment I received a phone call that I would now have to pay a $300 annual admin fee. This fee is outside insurance. This just felt wildly exploitative to me, especially since my appointment was just days away. I understand medicine is a business in this country but I shelled out thousands for my baby's birth, and my insurance company shelled out way more on my behalf. Now I have to pay MORE? Office overhead can't be covered from that money? You do develop a connection with an OB when you go through the birth process, and I'm really sad and tired at the thought of having to find someone new I can click with. It's time to say bye to this office. Thr front staff is so incredibly rude. As most people have relayed: they are charging a 350 administrative fee which is due on the day of your appointment. Doesn't make any sense, on top of what your paying with insurance. I hadn't been since the birth of my kids and before you could walk in and take a urine sample. The staff was so nasty with me over the phone, despite being an established patient she told me it had been too long and I needed to go to an urgent care. She even laughed telling me. I hung up and called my primary care doctor who also does pamspears and pelvic exams. I couldn't believe how she spoke to me. I just hung it up and said will never return here. But not they're now charging a $300 administrative fee (patient pocket) on top of billing my insurance for their services . I asked them to bill my insurance that fee and they said they cannot that insurances won't pay it. BUT they expect me to pay it on top of the insurance premium that I'm paying for to make it possible for me to go there. Absolutely absurd! Dr. Connie Cheng was my OB from early pregnancy through the birth of my son, and I'm so grateful I found her. I met with a few different doctors before choosing her, and she was by far the best fit. She's incredibly smart, easy to talk to, relatable, and always made me feel heard. She took the time to answer every question I had and helped guide me through my pregnancy and delivery with so much care and clarity. Thanks to her, I had the most positive and empowering birth experience possible. Just a quick note for anyone considering this practice: if you're planning on getting an IUD postpartum, make sure to request it early--ideally before delivery--since it can take 4 to 5 weeks to come in. That's not a reflection on Dr. Cheng at all, just something I wish I'd known in advance. Dr. Cheng is truly a fantastic OB, and I can't recommend her highly enough! read more

This review is for Dr Isiaka. I have never left a review before, but since I found this practice through Yelp I felt it fair to share my experience, even though it's long overdue. Dr Isiaka is amazing. We didn't really click at first (maybe it was the hormones?) but I stayed with her and am so glad I did. My pregnancy was high risk and she referred me to an excellent MFM with whom she was in constant communication about my pregnancy. I ended up having a c section after failure to progress and never once did Dr. Isiaka try and coerce me into surgery. She patiently let me try every option under the sun and just presented the facts so I could make my own informed decision about how I wanted to proceed. After 3 days of laboring I decided to call it and within 10 minutes was off to the OR to have a baby...! I think I fell in love with Dr. Isiaka from the operating table. Watching her work was nothing short of incredible. She's a skilled surgeon, cool under pressure, and a total boss in the O.R. who clearly commands the respect in the room. I felt so fortunate to be in the care of such a competent doctor. It wasn't the birth that I imagined, but it was an incredibly positive birth experience thanks to Dr. Isiaka and her excellence. The office is not always the best -- I had some issues with test results not being reported and blood samples getting lost, not to mention the waiting room has the most uncomfortable seating for pregnant people... but at the end of the day, those were minor annoyances and what is important is that Dr. Isiaka is an absolute badass and I am eternally grateful to her for keeping me and my baby safe. read more

I feel so lucky to have found Dr. Cheng! My first visit with her was to confirm a miscarriage. She went above and beyond to make sure I left the office that day with my overall health taken care of, including my emotional and mental health. A little over a year later, she delivered my first baby. He arrived via c-section and we both left the hospital happy and healthy. It's important to find a doctor you click with, especially when they care for you in your most vulnerable moments. Plus, with pregnancy, you spend a lot of time together! Here are some things I like about Dr. Cheng: She keeps up-to-date on recent studies and best practices. I could rely on her to cut through the noise. Plus, she's super direct, which I always appreciate and often need. She is a champion for her patients. I will never forget all the things she did for me to make sure I was at the center of my birth experience. For example, she made sure my husband and baby were with me throughout the surgery. She made sure I was getting proper rest in the days to follow. She has both literally and figuratively held my hand. My husband and I are a little sad we don't see her as much now, but we are so glad she was on our team to bring our little one into this world. read more

I have never ever ever in my life have had to wait over an hour to be seen by a doctor (Dr. Isiaka) First of all this is my 3rd visit and on all 3 occasions I've waited over an hour, but asked to be present 25-30 minutes prior ... really ? 3.5 years later and still amazing! There is a new yearly fee of $300 but for me it was worthwhile. I had multiple visits this year for prenatal care and 2 post natal visits. I also have another visit for my yearly checkup later this year. I do understand how it could be steep if you are going only once a year but if you are visiting for your prenatal visits, it's worth it! Dr. Isiaka is so grounded and calming, she answered all my questions and even personally called back when I left a message for her a few times. I had pre-eclampsia during my first pregnancy and she suggested early on in my first few visits this time that I take baby aspirin to prevent it. 39 weeks later, no pre-eclampsia symptoms!! I chose to have a repeat C section and even in the OR, Dr. Isiaka was reassuring (it's scary!). She removed my previous scar and now I can take better care of this one. After birth, I told Dr. Isiaka my goal was to get discharged in 2 days instead of 3 (toddler at home) and she was thorough in checking to make sure that it was possible. She made me feel that not only would she grant my request but also make sure that I was healthy and ready before doing so. I know the most recent negative reviews are because of the new yearly patient fee but like I said, if you are pregnant and doing your prenatal visits, the fee gives you the best possible care as well. They've implemented an annual $300 'admin' fee with virtually no notice. I made an appointment over a YEAR ago, and requested to have this waived as they gave me one day notice of this fee, and they notified me after Jan 1. They stated they would not waive it for anyone. This is very disrespectful and predatory to their patients. It takes months to get an appointment with a doctor, and they gave me one day's notice of this fee. It was either pay up or cancel. I will not be paying a ridiculous amount for no extra services when I already pay insurance premiums that should cover the costs at this in-network practice. Dr. Cheng was amazing throughout my whole pregnancy and delivery. She was very up front with me about what evidence there was for different options for my care and pointed me to great resources, with a good amount of color and explanation from her. I gladly paid the office admin fee to keep her as my doctor and I was thankful she was in the delivery room with me. The office is also well run, and the couple times that Dr. Cheng was running late they communicated extremely well. read more

In order to make an appointment with any provider at this office, you must contact them via email. There is an individual who manages this email. Apparently he/she works off-site/remotely and does not have ANY access to the main phone lines of the office. Therefore it is impossible to speak to them directly and only via email. This is an outdated, slow, and unrealistic way of making appointments, especially when you have questions that need to be answered in a timely fashion. I wasted over two weeks trying to make an appointment. My case is slightly different because I am 4 months pregnant and looking to transfer care because I am moving from another city. As such, I had a few questions I wanted answered by the staff. Each time I emailed, I would not receive a response for 2-3 business days. On top of that, each response did not always answer my questions fully. As you can imagine, this became very frustrating. When asked if this person (who also remains entirely nameless in their emails) could contact me via phone so they could just answer my questions directly, I was told they didn't actually work at the office and only communicates via email. I ended up calling the office directly and spoke with a receptionist (Destanie) who said she would try and relay the message to the doctor and the appointment person. After this call, I never received any sort of response to my questions other than the appointment person received my message. My first email was sent on 3/22 and the last email I received was 4/1. I have followed up twice with no reply? it is 4/7 today. Essentially, I was ghosted - what a great way to treat potential new patients. As a patient, I have never felt so disrespected and disregarded before, especially as a pregnant woman and can never in good faith recommend this practice. They charge $300 for admin and they keep forcing me to change appointments at last minute. They always ask me to confirm appointments multiple times and then change my appointment several hours before the time without my confirmation. Then I will receive text message saying You Must Check In. The admin tells you different stories than doctor for why they make changes. Sometimes doctors don't know they changed my appointment. read more

I was referred to Dr. Cheng from my former ob/gyn Dr. Mya Zapata after moving across town and wanting to see someone closer to home. She has now delivered my two children and my husband and I have recommended her to many friends. She's exactly what we wanted in a doctor - someone who is straightforward but warm, listens, is open minded but steadfast in their experience/research. It is clear she takes her job very seriously and understands how important the pregnancy/childbirth chapter is in her patients' lives. I was lucky to have two uncomplicated pregnancies and even luckier to have two very ideal deliveries/recoveries which I credit to Dr. Cheng's care, expertise and guidance. read more

I've never written a Yelp review before, but I want to warn anyone looking for care. I was very excited to be a patient of Dr Isiaka's based on reviews, and waited 6 months for an appointment (I scheduled a late June appointment in January). I started care with her just as my partner and I began our 6th month of trying to conceive. In August, I experienced very abnormal symptoms. I called her office to try to get in touch and explain my concerns. After waiting a week to hear back from her, we spoke briefly and she told me there was nothing to be done until I could come in for an appointment. She scheduled me for an appointment 3 weeks from that date, in mid-September. Because of the level of my concerns, I also got in touch with my gynecologist, hoping for more immediate care. Fortunately, her response was the polar opposite: She sprang into urgent action upon hearing my symptoms, ordered blood tests, communicated results to me promptly, and scheduled me for an immediate ultrasound. Based on her mounting worries about my condition, she got me into an urgent second ultrasound to confirm an ectopic diagnosis, and then urgently scheduled treatment with MTX all in the course of 2 days. Meanwhile, Dr. Isiaka was completely unresponsive and absent. After letting her office know twice that I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy - a dangerous predicament, especially if not caught and treated early - I never heard from Dr. Isiaka. Not once. 11 days after treatment with MTX, I sadly ended up in the hospital with a tubal rupture. I had emergency surgery and two blood transfusions. Huntington Memorial Hospital - which works with this office - tried to contact Dr. Isiaka before my surgery and did not hear back. To this day, 2 weeks later, I have not heard one word from Dr. Isiaka or her office. This is beyond negligent, dangerous, and unprofessional. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a medical professional. I highly recommend that you avoid this doctor at all costs, and find another OB-GYN who is responsive, communicative, professional, and takes concerns seriously. This level of negligence could put your life at risk. read more

I haven't been to this practice and have cancelled my upcoming appt due to the $300 admin fee they're instituting. It sucks for providers and their staff; I get they're doing a lot of unpaid work outside of seeing patients. At the same time, I wish they were able to come up with a different solution than to pass this responsibility to the patients. $300 is a lot and will ensure that only people of a certain socioeconomic status will get to receive their care. It's unfortunate that providing "quality care" means not providing care to people who can't shell out $300 (folks paying out of pocket, on Medi-Cal, etc). I had a terrible experience here at my last visit. Just didn't respond well to whatever I was given for my specific procedure. Don't think that part was anyone's fault but the medical assistant that was helping my Dr. seemed very unsure of herself and kind of lost. I get it, maybe her first few days. I was kind and understanding and patient with her. What's really upsetting me now is that I've tried calling numerous times to get my results and still haven't heard back. Today I waited and waited for someone to pick up the phone. Didn't even get to talk to anyone and I'm so confused. It's a weekday. This is ridiculous. read more

I truly can not say enough about how incredible Dr. Cheng is . She is bright, on top of her game and caring. She addressed every symptom I was having with a solution. I feel so fortunate to have her as my doctor. Yes the office is charging a $300 administration fee. Hate to tell you all this but this is the wave of the future. Medicine has gotten VERY expensive even with platinum insurance. It's worth it though to see reputable doctors that are smart and really care. read more
