The advertisement did not mention any gender restrictions or different pricing. When I arrived, I was told that men were required to pay an $8 entry fee. If the promotion had clearly stated that the offer did not apply to males, I would've been prepared for that. Accurate and transparent social media promotion is extremely important for bars, especially when trying to attract new guests. When the information online doesn't match the experience at the door, it creates confusion and reflects poorly on the business. Clear communication would go a long way in improving the guest experience. Another issue was the cigarette smoke inside. The smell of cigarettes lingering throughout the building made it hard to enjoy the night. Paying to get in and then having to deal with heavy cigarette odor just isn't the vibe when you're trying to have a good time. Overall, clearer advertising and a smoke‑free environment would make the experience much better.

My husband and I have not been to downtown Sanford but recently did come for a friend's birthday. She wanted to hop around different drink spots and have dinner. Since we carpooled, parking was better. We were able to find street parking. There is no designated parking for this spot. We got there very early and decided to stop here. We ended up coming back later with everyone but we enjoyed it. This is a small bar with standing room only at the bar but then they have a huge back area with lots of bench style tables and seating. Their drink menu is also very large with tons of beer options to choose from. They offered a wide range of beers, craft beer, stouts, ciders and more. I am not a huge craft beer fan so I struggled. I ended up telling the bartender what I like and he had a couple of suggestions. He also let me sample one of the ciders, which I ended up getting. I choose the Cider Boys Strawberry Cider. Really great, not overly sweet just very tasty. My husband loves craft beer and will always look for one with a high ABV. He went with the Voodoo Where our Secrets go Stout Imperial from Pennsylvania. It had a high ABV and was a dark beer, he really enjoyed it. Both times we sat outside. The second time we came over, was later in the evening and more full than the first time. They also had a musician singing, which made it extremely loud and very hard for our group to chat. Overall this is a great spot. If we lived closer I could see us coming here more frequently. We do not find ourselves visiting Sanford a lot but if we are in the area, we would for swing by again. If you live closer, I would highly recommend coming here for the vibes, the ambiance and the beers. You can also bring your dogs which is a nice touch. My only negative is there is not food to order. I would love some bar snacks or pub style food. You can bring your own food in but it would make this an A Plus if you they served food.

Another fun "2-3 star/5 star" review…read more First, you guys REALLY need to clean up the area at the back of the place...we park in the county lot after 6 when it's legal and walking in that way is, frankly, gross. 2 star worthy Asked for a Miller Lite. Out. Asked for another beer on the menu. Out. Now Maddie our server (6 star worthy) made it right, was super cheerful/"embarrassed" and bought me a bar drink to make up for it...so no big deal...BUT wanted the Big Fish...OUT. Wanted fish and chips...OUT. Two of your more popular dishes I bet...wth???? Now the FUNNIEST thing? Couldn't get our bill because...you guessed it...receipt paper for the printer? OUT. 2-3 star worthy. Now, what we were able to scrounge off the menu? Really good as usual. Enjoyed ourselves, Maddie and one of her colleauges (they seem to have had all the tables by themselves?) were uber friendly and fun and made us chuckle about the situation, and other things so we had a light hearted, nice time. (5 star worthy) But guys. This isn't normal. (Right?)

Me and my girlfriend went for a quick late lunch, focusing on appetizers and some beer. As far as…read moreatmosphere goes, cute outside seating and decent vibes. But ambiance doesn't cut it alone. Albeit only ordering two appetizers and two beers, the apps we ordered were NOT good. We ordered the 1lb mussels and the nachos with added beef. The mussels were in a butter garlic sauce with what tasted like white cooking wine or champagne(???) that was NOT all the way simmered, it was bitter and extremely sour. The mussel meat was all but ruined and swimming in this weird butter sour soup, basically drinking champagne with mussels. For $15, Easily 1/10 and not acceptable(stay away). The nachos which were $14 and for an additional $7(chicken) or $6(beef) they weren't terrible, but not great either. We got the beef add-on, and the beef was charred and dry, it appeared as if they just let the beef sit under a heat lamp for a few hours, it was black but didn't taste burnt. The nachos had some semi-dry cheese sauce with pico de gallo spread on top and came with a side of sour cream in a black plastic cup (which was fine). The best part about the nachos were what seem to be home made chips, those were quite nice actually. But because of the charred/dry beef it quickly became too salty. Portion size was good so maybe sharing with at least 3-4 people, not sure anyone would notice how salty it can get. For $20, 4/10. Our server was fine, at one point he disappeared for ~15-20 minutes when we were ready to close out but overall service was normal. The beer was also fine, nothing abnormal. Could have been a bit colder if I had to be nit picky. This was our first and last time unfortunately, had decent hopes considering it's in such a premier location in downtown Sanford. We will not be returning as there are much better options on this strip and if any would like to try them(based on this review) AVOID THE MUSSELS.

Alive after five…read more On the second Tuesday of every month the town of Sanford holds a block party in the center of town. They vary in size and theme but one of the very best is something called Party Gras. Of course it's an obvious copy of the original Marti Gras down in New Orleans and even though it is much smaller in size and debauchery it still is fun and entertaining. They block off the street and musicians, artists and food vendors fill the area. You pay seven bucks for a wrist band and that entitles you to all the free samples of food and drink that you want. A cool idea because it allows you to try all kinds of different things, some of it you might not have bothered with if you had to buy a whole meal. You can go back as many times as you want as long as you are willing to stand in a small line again. The event also had three bands playing, mercifully separated by enough distance so they didn't interfere with each other. Some cool music and talented musicians. They also had a nice old car display, some creative art, and random trombone, trumpet and strangely dressed folks milling around. Of course a nice assortment of friendly and stinky dogs added to the ambiance. Certainly nothing like the original Mardi gras but then that is probably a good thing for Sanford. This is a cool event that allows people to have fun, hear music, see interesting people and eat lots of food without ending up in jail.

Absolutely -- here's the more over-the-top version:…read more WestEnd might honestly be one of Sanford's best-kept secrets. First off, on Tuesdays they've got the 6/7 deal -- 6 wings and fries for $7. In 2026, seven dollars barely gets you a sad drive-thru combo, but somehow WestEnd is out here feeding people like inflation never happened. Then there's Nicole in the kitchen, who I'm convinced is some kind of miracle worker. The wings are ridiculous, the sandwiches are some of the best around, and whoever decided to start making fried Uncrustables deserves a raise, a trophy, and possibly their own holiday. Yes, you read that correctly. FRIED. UNCRUSTABLES. It sounds like something you'd make at 1:30 in the morning after several questionable decisions -- except these are actually amazing. Behind the bar, Brit and Susie are the best and prettiest bartenders in town. Great drinks, great service, and they somehow manage to keep smiling while dealing with the rest of us. Come for the $7 wings, stay for the sandwiches, absolutely order the fried Uncrustables, and be nice to Brit and Susie. 10/10. WestEnd is basically a five-star restaurant disguised as a bar where nobody judges your life choices. I can make it even more ridiculous and roast the regulars a little too.
