I've lived in Sanford for 17 years, and while I've only made a handful of trips to Rockin' Rhonda's, each visit has left a lasting impression. Most of my time here has been spent meeting up with riding buddies heading to or from a charity motorcycle run, or supporting local bands. Our most recent visit was this past Saturday to catch our friends' band, Night Wind, play. Unfortunately, the turnout was smaller than expected, likely due to the 11th Annual Mardi Gras celebration happening downtown. We started at the festival, then made our way to Rhonda's to enjoy the band before heading back downtown to wrap up the night. Rockin' Rhonda's is a classic dive bar and a popular pit stop for bikers--this might deter some newcomers, but if you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for a drink and a bite. The drink prices are some of the best in town. Well drinks are only $4, and if you order two of the same drink, it's just $6. You really can't beat that price, especially downtown. I usually ask for a double in a 16oz glass, so I don't have to juggle drinks all night. They also offer $12 domestic beer buckets, which are a great deal, and on Saturdays, they discount top-shelf liquors by $2 when you order a double. Food-wise, they have a decent selection of bar-food and it's affordable. A cheese pizza is $10, and only $2 more for a pepperoni version. If you're in the mood for something different, you can grab two corndogs for $6, mozzarella sticks for $5, a cheeseburger or hot dog for $4, or even taquitos for $4. For a casual bite, it's a great deal. If you plan to hang out for a while, there are several high-top tables available for dining. The staff here are friendly, and the place is generally clean and well-kept--inside and outside. If you're looking for something to do, there's no shortage of entertainment. They have several arcade games, two pool tables, multiple dartboards, and JENGA to keep you busy. If you're a bit tight on cash, there's an ATM right inside the main gaming area. When you step outside from the back of the bar, you'll find a cozy seating area next to a clean pond and fountain. Beyond that, there's a large, covered outdoor bar/patio area with more high-top tables facing the stage where our friends played. There's even another outdoor bar and service area to the left of the stage. The outdoor space can accommodate over 60 people (mostly standing) if the crowd is right, making it a great place to hang out on a busy night. We had a fantastic time at Rhonda's, and I'm grateful they provided the space for our friends to perform. The drinks were fantastic, and I appreciate that they pour the old-school way (free-pour), which is a nice touch. Three things to keep in mind: (1) Smoking is allowed inside, so if you're planning to dine-in, you may want to enjoy your meal outside under the covered patio; (2) the parking area and the space between the patio and stage are mostly dirt and sand, so it could be dusty/slippery/or muddy depending on the weather during your visit; and (3) The venue does not providing in-house lighting and sound for the stage, so if your planning on landing a gig here you will need to bring all of this equipment and manage your sound/lighting needs during the show. Overall, Rockin' Rhonda's is a laid-back, local gem that's definitely worth checking out if you're in the Sanford area. read more

Great little dive bar. They don't serve food, but they do have a vending machine for snacks. The service was awesome, I don't remember the ladies name, but she was an older blonde haired woman who wore a cowboy hat. There is a pool table, pinball machines, an old 80's style arcade game, darts, and a dart board. The music was at a great level, although a little pricey to play music, 10 credits for $5.00. It seemed like everyone knew each other there. If I ever go back to Sanford (which is doubtful) I would go here again. read more

I didn't have any food but I went there on a Saturday night for karaoke for the first time and I had a blast ! The bartender always made sure if I was okay , the vibe was so fun everyone was so welcoming and the VJ was so wonderful !! I plan on bringing all my friends there and I highly recommend!! read more

I didn't see the episode of Bar Rescue until the next day after visiting Rockin' Rhonda's and obnoxiously singing to a crowd after a "few" drinks with friends on a date night. Cold beer. Good tracks. What more do you need? I will say that I am damn glad that she stayed true to what Rhonda's is supposed to be, and didn't cave to the lush suggestions of a TV show. Went to Rhonda's Saturday night, they had the usual Karaoke but out back, they had a fabulous band playing. Rewind, was fantastic, too bad they only played for a short time before another band came on. Rhonda if you're listening, bring that band back. read more

Cute little karaoke bar (with every song u can think of) ! Rhonda the owner makes you feel like you've just walked into your own neighborhood bar back home, everyone is so friendly and her drinks specials are over the top affordable. I was across the street getting new tires put on the front of my Dodge Ram. I had been traveling for quite some time and was weary as hell and need a drink. I asked the owners of the shop if they could recommend a good place to get a drink and without hesitation they directed me to Rhonda's just across the street. Long story short, she was one of the nicest, most hospitable people I've met in a while. She offered me some homemade salsa she had made which was amazing and THEN broke out some jalapeño cornbread for me and even went as far as to heat it up in the oven first...unprompted, mind you. There is SO much I would like to say about this place! I watch a lot of Bar Rescue and finally had the chance to check this place out. Along with a completely friendly set of local patrons, we had the absolute privilege to meet Rhonda herself. (she has no idea how big of a fan I am, truly! Talented, welcoming, runs around with a smile on her face trying her best to satisfy her customers!) Karaoke was fun, drinks were cold, the people were so absolutely friendly to my fiancé and I and we cannot thank you enough for two great nights of partying with y'all! Since Bar Rescue aired, the owner, Rhonda, has been rude and bullying customers. If you go to another bar in the area and she finds out about it, she will berate you in front of other customers, that is when she is there. She was witnessed during a Plenty of Fish event yelling at customers to buy more drinks or leave. Recently, there was significant police activity in her parking lot (poorly lit) and is an open investigation with the Sanford Police Department. She has not assured her patrons all is well or advised other local bars should a similar case happen. She is brushing it under the rug. I was a true supporter for a long time, but refuse to go near that place. If you want to be sucked into the drama-vortex, then visit Rhonda's. Rhonda's is SO totally awesome. I went there a few times before "Bar Rescue" was there, and never really liked it, but I went there when the show was filming and I actually got on TV! I saw that a camera was about to film the table I was sitting at and I made a petty complaint about a drink for absolutely no reason, and it actually got me on the episode! I couldn't believe it! If you ever hear about "Bar Rescue" being filmed at a place near you, go there and make the stupidest complaints about the smallest of things, and I am sure they will edit it into the show! I'm in town visiting my mother and wanted a fun place to sing some karaoke and this places was great. I was greeted as soon as I walked in by the bartender named Carrie and she was very polite and accommodating. The karaoke kicked off at 9 with George the DJ and it ran very well. This might be the worst bar I've ever been to, and that's saying something. Bartenders are ok. For a place that advertises karaoke, I was there for an hour and never saw anyone sing karaoke. It isn't much to look at from the outside, but inside it is as friendly a place as you have ever been. Rhonda made it a point to welcome me as soon as I entered. Quickly took my order and brought be one of the best tasting pulled pork BBQ sandwiches I have ever eaten. I went there last Saturday and, like many local "neighborhood" places, got ripped off because I'm not a regular. They charged me $40 for three Irish Cream on Ice drinks. Then later on when I returned to pick up my credit card I forgot, there seemed to be very hot women easing up to very middle aged and unappealing men in what seemed a sugar mama or worse atmosphere. read more

I went for a Halloween party sponsored by Plenty of Fish. The big minus: the place is filled with cigarette smoke, so I didn't stay long. Rhonda was fun, the karaoke was great, and a nice dance floor too. But I spent most of my time at the outside tables because of the smoke.
