From start to finish, the building process went very smoothly and was a lot more easygoing than I expected. JD was very professional and was great to work with as the general contractor for my home. Whenever things started to slow down or there were areas that needed some extra attention, JD was always quick to step in and take care of them. That was very reassuring throughout the process and gave me confidence that things were going to get done the way they should. One of the things I really appreciated about Taylor Homes was their flexibility. They stayed true to their word when it came to refunds for items I chose to complete myself rather than having them do the work. I really liked having that option--you can pick and choose certain things you want to take care of on your own, and they provide the appropriate refund rather than forcing you to pay for work you don't need them to complete. Being able to build on a private lot also made the entire process very easygoing. Overall, I feel Taylor Homes offers very good value, especially with today's construction costs. For a 1,700-square-foot home, I feel their pricing is very competitive when you look at the price per square foot. I would absolutely recommend Taylor Homes Building Corporation to anyone looking to build a home in this area, and I would definitely refer JD as the general contractor for any Taylor Homes build. The person in charge of our build was nice enough, but didn't care about the build at all. We ended up with a house that quality wise wasn't worth the money. Taylor's customer service is so bad, I didn't even want to turn in any warranty claims because I didn't want any of their contractors to work on the house. I DO NOT recommend Taylor Homes to anyone. On September I was forced (sold house and was promised the home would be done third week of July). At most every stage of the process I experienced issues from mold in my basement, warped doors, scratched windows, unlevel brick to an inability to get accurate financial numbers together before I had to close on the house. The owner was never present until I called direct attention to frustrations and concerns. In the course of building my home, I was passed off from superintendent to superintendent (five to be precise). This resulted in a lot of errors, having to spend hours repeating issues or telling the next person what the previous person committed to doing. This created significant quality issues, financial issues, and ultimately a lot of my time supervising. I moved into a home without sidewalks, a driveway, a graded yard, etc.. This resulted in my basement flooding on two separate occasions (to which I had to clean up and deal with the mess). I had a pipe burst in a bedroom wall and run onto my carpet for hours before it was discovered due to a low quality plumber. I was left with debris and trash in my garage and yard that I finally had to clean up. I was promised multiple times that this company would address issues such as scratched windows, no caulk in doors, warped doors, cabinets with oil stains on them, paint issues, etc.. They have been promising me that they will resolve the issue for ten months (I have the documents to validate). Two deck boards that needed to be put on sat in my driveway from November until the end of June. As I have turned up the heat, I was informed 10 months after I closed on the house AND after the leadership of this company said they would do the right thing and address my concerns multiple times, they now demand I pay them $12k and they want to move the items to a one year punch list.

Greg and Tom of GCU took over the build on our custom home in June of 2025 estimating to finish it…read morearound September. They ordered wrong size cabinets, hired below par subcontractors, were not on site to manage sub contractors or work, did not complete the home but attempted to charge us over 90 percent of the contract price by November of 2025 while still having months to go on the house. When we told them we needed to talk about the project and lack of completion they stopped answering calls and texts and basically abandoned the work without any notice. These people talk a good story but fail to complete what they say and have little respect for timelines or quality of the work being done, Some of their subcontractors are questionable at best as far as quality and reliability of their work. They also failed to communicate wit us about issues, problems and constant delays in getting the house completed but were always there when a bill needed to be paid or they wanted to be paid. I would not recommend these people for any type of major work or construction.
