They kept him over night and put him in a room. When I went there the following day he was so sick at his stomach and throwing up. I asked the RN if they had a bag to throw up in and she took me to the supply room to get it and said to me, do you see one because it's not jumping out at me. Well I saw a plastic emesis basin for vomit and I grabbed it up and said can I take this and she said go ahead. I ran back to the room and put it under my Dad's mouth then I went back up to the nurses station and was ignored for a couple of minutes and finally a lady came in and asked me what I needed. I asked had they given my Dad something for nausea and vomiting. An RN sitting there said yes, I gave him Maalox. Maalox? I knew that would not help. I asked for something stronger and she said do you think I should give him Zofram? Why was she asking me that? She had no clue that I am a retired Nurse! I was not familiar with that medication since I have not worked in a hospital setting in years and retired for 10 yrs. I replied, if that will help and not knock him out yes! My Dad is 91 yrs old. When she brought the tiny pill in the room to put under his tongue she handed it to me and said can you get it under his tongue or I will have to put on some gloves and do it! I grabbed the pill and put it under my Dad's tongue. Of all things! She still does not know that I am a Nurse! Laying as he was in bed he was throwing up pure phlegm. I raised him in up in bed but he still could not get it up because he was so sick. I went back to the Nurses station and asked if they could suction my Dad because he was choking on the phlegm. She said he is probably sick from lunch cause it was nasty. My Dad didn't eat lunch! She did say she would ask the Dr. about suctioning. Next thing I knew the CNA came in and said the Ambulance was on it's way to pick my Dad up and take him back to rehab. Of all things! I would not take my dog to this place. When my Dad got back to rehab by Ambulance we checked his diaper and it had not been changed all day at Cornerstone and someone there, said I bet that weighs 10 lbs. It's my fault for not checking that, but I was so concerned about him sick and my Mom said they never checked it the whole time she had been there but she had been asleep several times and had not thought about it. Parkridge worked with my Dr's office to rearrange some scheduling to get me in the following week. That day, I was immediately sent to pre-op screening. What a great bunch of friendly ladies in this department! They got me pre registered, all pre op bloodwork done, EKG, and all paperwork & insurance done in less than an hour! They were all kind and compassionate. The day of procedure I arrived two hours before surgery to prepare. I was very nervous, but everyone was calm and explained everything in detail to keep me at ease. Of course my Dr was great, but the nursing staff was phenomenal!! Seriously, I'm blown away at how professional, kind and compassionate the staff is at Parkridge! They made a scary and overwhelming procedure bearable and I felt pampered the four days I spent there. I also want to touch on the fact that this is a very clean hospital. The food wasn't bad either, with a pretty diverse menu to choose from. I'm very glad my Dr suggested this hospital and I highly recommend it if you have a choice in the chattanooga area.

Kellie the valet over at the Emergency room was a perfect example of what a valet should do to go above and beyond the job requirements. She assisted with getting a wheelchair for our staff member so she didn't have to walk, she didn't mention my shuttle being in the way (Which it very much was) and she did it all with a smile on her face. From one valet to another. Thank you if you see this Kellie. I will definitely be using that trip to the ER as an example on training people at my hotel.

Did not reconcile my home meds 6. 12-year old resident got an attitude because I refused to take the 5-dose, 14-day rabies shot series because I TOLD HIM, the cat isn't sick!! He's MY cat, and he was sleeping on the bed RIGHT BESIDE ME!! The only reason he flipped out was he does NOT like other cats and unbeknownst to me, another kitty had been hiding in my dresser and it freaked him out when he saw him and a fight ensued. I just got caught in the crossfire. He brought THAT up 3 more times before giving me a single dose of Augmentin and a script (and an xray that I probably didn't need). I specifically asked for an IV loading dose of Unasyn and a shot of SoluMedrol since my hand was swollen to twice its normal size (also because I wouldn't be able to get the Rx filled until after work the next day) - which he purely ignored. Never checked my radial pulse or capillary refill, either.
