They basically were kinda dry, but I did find the assistant the vet was with very kind. Long curly hair. Very sweet woman. My main qualm was that I was quoted upwards of 4k$ in surgeries. I was a bit gob smacked at the price. I then went to another vet, Clay Road Animal Clinic (a place known for being fair and realistic) and was quoted $550 for the same surgery, and they explained in detail what could be expected. My dog also generally enjoyed their presence more, which I do take into account. They also took more steps to know about what was going on internally, suggesting x-rays, which was very affordable in comparison to elsewhere. While at this Alvin clinic it was more so like a shrugging their shoulders reaction, like what do ya want me to do about it from here. This vet isn't bad by any means, but just not for me. Too expensive for at best average care. And in daunting situations, while of course they are more than willing and upfront to work within your price range, sometimes things are scary and people don't know the next steps and need these things more broken down for them. All I left with after this vet was a printed out information google webpage, and an attempt to upsell (in my opinion) on vaccines. Like I said, just not for me.

Simple eye drop for an eye infection was almost $400 for our dog. Today my wife took our cat in and spent $500 for blood work and an anti nausea shot. Beware! Get "estimates " and don't be pushed into unnecessary expenses.

Words can't express the gratitude I have for Dr. Jennings and the Haven Veterinary Clinic staff…read more When I moved back to the Houston area a few years ago I was so happy to come across a black AND female owned veterinary clinic that wasnt too far from my home. Cultural similarities aside, Dr. Jennings' credentials also spoke loudly to me. American Veterinary Association, Chief of Staff at Banfield for 20+ years. Texas A&M vet school. Yes, someone I can trust. Someone, who'll listen to my concerns and truly care about what's best for my pet. I confidently booked my first appointment for my dog. The staff is mild mannered, calm, gentle and always very welcoming. Dr. Jennings, the same but firm, knowledgeable and honest. Dr.Jennings always treated me with the utmost professionalism but yet with the care and concern of a dear family friend. It was clear she saw how much my little one meant to me and she wanted to provide me with the best information she had. A couple weeks ago, I was so relieved to have Haven Veterinary Clinic in my corner on the last day of my fur baby's life. I'm so grateful it was on a Saturday and while Haven was open. They welcomed me as soon as I could get there, without an appointment. Once there, they did all they could and let me come to the back with my little one as they cared for her. I stepped out briefly to run an errand and returned at closing time. Dr. Jennings then referred me to two 24 hour facilities were I could continue my fur baby's care. She remembered an awful experience I had with another nearby clinic and was careful NOT to refer me to them but to her top two choices. The option I chose couldn't have been more perfect. I'll be leaving a separate A+ review for them as well. While providing medical care for my dog, Dr. Jennings recommended the best diet plans, medications, and specialists and gave my baby the very best care. She was very helpful in guiding me on realistic options and steering me away from expensive time wasters. Although she always ensured all decisions were completely made by me. She laid everything out on the table for me to decide. A day after my precious little doggy passed away, which happened to be on a Sunday, Dr. Jennings called me and gave me her sincerest condolences. It meant so much to me that she went out of her way on a Sunday and when I knew she had time off the following week, to express her sympathy to me for my loss. I always felt seen, heard and understood by Dr. Jennings and like she truly cared about me and my fur baby. I would without question recommend any and everyone to this amazing veterinarian and her awesome staff. One day, when I have future fur kiddos, Haven is absolutely the veterinary clinic I'll choose. I'm a little sad I don't have a reason to see the staff and Dr. Jennings regularly anymore but when the time comes this is without a doubt where I will go.

I love how he is also the doctor performing the surgery. Sometimes, vet offices refer clients to another place for surgeries and there's nothing wrong with that at all, but it is very convenient when the veterinarian that is explaining the recommendations is also the doctor performing everything because it's less appointments and consultations and less imaging. We have been going to a wonderful veterinarian but their referral office is very expensive. We feel that Alvin Friendswood Veterinary Center offers very fair pricing. It was easy to feel at home here with everyone being so personable and welcoming. Our experience so far has been completely positive and we're incredibly optimistic in our baby's recovery! Thank you all so much! Dr. Doucet, thank you for offering such a positive experience and welcoming atmosphere at your office during a stressful time while we explore options in treatment for Bane's injured leg. We truly are grateful! Thank you to the receptionist/office manager for being so pleasant and informative. The chemistry here between staff and doctor is amazing and it is noticed. It's always refreshing to walk into a positive environment. Having a doctor we feel we can trust is so important to us and that was what we felt during our appointment. Thank you!

Took me a while to finally write a review after I made the difficult decision to put my sweet Bella down. This clinic made this difficult day so peaceful for me and my girl. Throughout the entire process the doc and his assistant were very patient and empathetic. Thank you, guys, for taking care of my sweet girl all the way to the end and for taking care of my Poppi through his tracheal collapse stages and his dental surgery and Tony through his dental surgery and Kiki through her ear issues. Just thank you for everything!!!

Let me count the utter disasters that occurred in my small amount of time at Parkwood…read more 1) My dog was seen by Dr. Polasek on April 29th, May 4th, May 8th, and June 1st. Dr. Polasek treated my dog for one issue "only." She ran the same diagnostic tests over and over. She neglected to truly give my dog a thorough physical examination. 2) My dog's health was getting worse and Dr. Polasek did nothing to address it. 3) Barbara in the office had the audacity to yell at me, in front of other clients, for not keeping my sick dog in a crate. A) Barbara should have minded her own business! B) I do not believe in crates "Doggie Jail" 4) My dog saw Dr. Vanderford on July 1st and he immediately noticed my dog had Jaundice. New and different diagnostic tests indicated; Liver Disease, Pancreatitis, Bilirubin, Gallbladder, Red Blood Cell Count (Extremely Low) & White Blood Cell Count (Extremely High). My dog was immediately given IV Fluids, Cerenia Shot, and four Appetite Stimulates. 《Even Dr. Vanderford questioned why Dr. Polasek ran the same diagnostic tests over and over!》 5) This states a lot about Dr. Polasek and her qualifications for not noticing my dog was that sick. 6) Dr. Vanderford was contemplating back and forth; "Should I send home a combo cocktail of medications (his words exactly) for the 4th of July weekend or a 24/7 emergency clinic?" 7) Dr. Vanderford suggested the 24/7 emergency clinic because he also works there and based on his schedule he could check-in on my dog. 8) Dr. Polasek was supposed to expedite the paperwork. Dr. Polasek dropped the ball on getting the paperwork to the emergency clinic. 9) I spoke with Silvia at the front desk who made every excuse in the world for Dr. Polasek. 10) Silvia had also dropped the ball three times regarding various issues. (Two times were basic appointments.) Per Silvia; "I'm multitasking." 11) Dr. Clark performed an ultrasound on my dog. Dr. Clark also dropped the ball because she did not send the ultrasound nor the report to the emergency clinic. (Per, Dr. Coffey at 24/7 emergency clinic) 12) My dog was admitted to the 24/7 emergency clinic on the evening of July 3rd and released on July 6th at 10pm by Dr. Vanderford. (A cost of $10k and to no avail) 13) Needless to say, Dr. Vanderford's decision for the 24/7 emergency clinic was an extremely gross error in judgment! 14) Within 12 hours my dog passed away at home in my arms and surrounded by the entire family. 15) On July 7th, my dog was brought to Parkwood to be cremated and in our family's moment of pure grief and sorrow, Dr. Clark was unprincipled in lecturing us about feeding my dog inappropriate foods, such as bacon. A) Dr. Clark had absolutely no right to be so disingenuous. B) My dog(s) only receive the very best of everything in life. 16) On July 16th, I picked up my dogs urn at Parkwood with the standard response of; "I'm so sorry for your loss and my condolences" which was beyond empty hearted. The response was scripted and completely apathetic. 17) On Tuesday, August 4th I received an amateurish text message (YES, TEXT MESSAGE) from Amy Swift, Office Practitioner. Client, After careful consideration, Parkwood Animal Hospital has decided to end our veterinary-client-patient relationship. Effective 8/4/2026, we will no longer provide veterinary services for you or your pets. Please establish care with another veterinary practice. Upon your written request by text, email, or from your new veterinarian, we will promptly provide your pets' medical records. This decision is final. We wish you and your pets all the best. Sincerely, Amy Swift 18) I spoke with Amy Swift, Office Practitioner, to inquire about this amateurish text message but Amy literally talked in circles, a pure prevarication to answering my direct questions. She could not give me one legitimate answer for this decision. That speaks volumes about her lack of character and scruples. 19) Let me be clear and concise: that I never blamed anyone for my dog being sick nor the fact my dog passed away. However, I absolutely do blame those who dropped the ball in my dogs time of need and did not live up to their Veterinarian's Oath. Between the way my dog and I were treated and the amateurish text message it truly shows lack of morality, principles, and standards within Parkwood and "I WANT NO PART OF IT!" Parkwood is not about customer service satisfaction nor the overall health and well-being of a beloved pet. Parkwood is all about money!!! This negative review is 100% based on the truth and pure facts that I and my sick dog endured in the "very small" amount of time at Parkwood. Any response is 100% superfluous as it means nothing to me. I know the stats-quo at Parkwood and it will be mendacity. BELOVED PET OWNER'S BEWARE ATTENTION PARKWOOD: THIS NEGATIVE REVIEW WAS NOT POSTED OUT OF GRIEF NOR SORROW! IT WAS POSTED OUT OF DISGUST & PURE DISDAIN!!! SHAME ON ALL OF YOU AT PARKWOOD
