I ordered a taco bar for a rehearsal dinner from Hy-vee Catering in Indianola IA. The food was a mess! The hot food was served in thin foil pans that didn't fit in the frames so everything was leaning to one side looking like it might fall out. The young man who set up the food seemed to have no experience so he didn't recognize that this was a problem. This wasn't the server's fault, Hy-vee should never have sent the food in disposable foil pans. I ordered both chicken and beef for the taco bar and somehow the chicken got lost during the setup process and it wasn't available to our guests. The Hy-vee employee who set up the taco bar had no idea that we had ordered it. We paid for it and never received it. The dessert was supposed to be cheesecake. We received a pan of "no-bake" cheesecake. I was never told that we were going to receive something that was obviously not cheesecake. It was a complete mess. It arrived in a large foil pan with no utensil. I asked the server from Hy-vee to put it on plates. He borrowed a spatula from the winery and slapped it on plates. It looked like a pile of mush on the plates. Communication between Hy-vee catering and the winery where the rehearsal dinner was held was poor. The Manager at the winery was told that only one table would be needed for the food so that was what was set up. We had to scramble to get additional tables for food after our guests and the Hy-vee catering person arrived. I was embarrassed by the food and presentation. My husband and I had to help the inexperienced Hy-vee server try to set things up when we wanted to be spending time with our guests. I would never recommend Hy-vee Catering. read more

This review is for the Market Grille. I usually pick up a sandwich from the deli area. It's $5, tastes great, and is made quickly. I decided to try the Market Grille (why the 'e' at the end?) this time and enjoy some fries with my sandwich. Surely the extra $4 for the fries (No drink included!) was justified by the amount and taste, right? I mean, why else would they serve it right next to a deli that makes awesome $5 sandwiches? I ordered to go and noted the drinks were 2 times the price of the ones at the gas station across the parking lot. That's cool. I'll just get my drink there. Ridiculous price difference from the same store/brand but whatever. I wait, get my food and leave. I peek in the bag and just laugh! I paid an extra $4 for a small handful of fries?! Are you kidding me? That portion was lacking. Surely they taste good though right? I pop one in my mouth. I can taste a little seasoning on them. I pop a second to try to identify it and whoa! Nothing but seasoning on this one. Wow! Maybe they are making up for the small portion size by adding more seasoning?? Not good at all. Going back to the market grille menu, I notice that a side of fries is $2. That seems a more reasonable price for the portion you get. Knowing this now, the next time I feel the urge for some fries, I will just order a side of fries (be sure to shake off the extra seasoned ones!) and walk over to the deli and get a sandwich from the nice ladies over there. They won't stare at you like a bug like the lady at the Market Grille did either. read more

Aisles on Line is the WORST SERVICE EVER!!! They text you at 6AM about your order, give you produce so small it will not feed the family (see picture of $3.24 cauliflower only weighing 9 ounces when typical is 2 pounds) or it is rotting, and dairy products are at or beyond their expiration dates. So I switched to Fareway in Indianola. I wasn't contacted about the order until 8:30 AM and I got everything and the dairy is fresh as is the produce. I complained to Hyvee MANY TIMES, yet they just ignored me. Well, just go on ignoring me as I will NEVER use your abysmal service or shop your store. read more

We are just passing through and had planned to stop for the night at Walmart but they no longer allow RV overnights. Hy-Vee was very accommodating, allowing us to park next to their retaining wall for the night. Since we were there, we went shopping. OMG, loved this store. Not only are my fridge and ice chest fully loaded but we indulged in their restaurant/deli. I had the all you can eat Salad/Fruit/Soup/Taco Bar which was fresh and flavorful at a good price. So much fun to be able to sample so many items. My husband opted for a personalized pizza and he was thrilled. Lots of leftover pizza to squeeze into our fridge. Loved the store. They had the best store deli I have ever been to and hands down the most pleasant and helpful employees. And the fresh donuts......... read more

This is one of the smaller local stores that have been renovated to the New Store philosophy of Service with a Smile...All the departments are helpful and worth the Browse to get whatever you are After. I'm here often and usually for a sit down meal at the Market Grille...one of the best in the metro so I'm really surprised not seeing a Yelp post for just the restaurant(Hy-vee social network please take note) that the entire staff here is doing extremely well and the Kitchen Staff is knocking out Great Food. Steaks, Seafood, Salads, Burgers, Tenderloins, they have something for everyone here;)) I'm flying solo today and splurging a bit with one of their giant burgers Cali Style(Made by an awesome Chef Cali Francis) so just makes since and sided with a healthy pile of grilled asparagus to healthy it up a little but instantly killed with an explosion of Buffalo Boneless wings that paired amazingly. We live near by and have dined here several times. Staff is always friendly but not well trained when the kitchen has issues. Breakfast is usually good. The other meals just skip it unless all the other places in town are closed or you really like a salad bar or you get the Chinese/deli and bring it in the restaurant. Lunch and dinner are way to expensive for the level of food you get and we have had something wrong with the order or burnt/raw food. read more

I used to love going here. Now I find myself frustrated by the long wait everytime I go there for food, and sometimes it takes forever for your server to greet you at the table to take drink orders. All restaurants have bad days where things don't run smoothly but I have noticed a pattern here. They need to up their game. Also, I have noticed a not so subtle decrease in portion sizes. I worked for Hy Vee in college the company has forgotten the beginnings. Employees rarely speak, some are rude, some managers are less than friendly. The prices are the highest around, the "fuel saver" card most of the time the cashier forgets to ask if have one. I filled up with gas during the promotion of 6am to 9am get 6 cents off per gallon my last time filling my car was denied the promotion the two clerks told me it ended, yet 2 days later heard it over the intercom. I proceeded to the station spoke with the manager he defended the employees. The store has comment box over two week period left 3 notes all ignored. We stopped at the Hy-Vee for breakfast expecting a deli type breakfast. We're we surprised! The Market Cafe was terrific. We had fresh coffee and a breakfast sandwich each. We would definitely come back here. Prices were very reasonable, and they offer special evening meals each day of the week and a full bar. Nice atmosphere, not what one would expect at a super market. Rock on, Hy-Vee! Please build in Joplin, Mo. We have to drive to Springfield, MO to shop at a Hy-Vee (from Bella Vista, AR).
