The fuel station was out of Hy-Vee perks cards, so one of the employees - presumably the manager - went up to the main grocery store to grab some more, specifically for me. This same employee insisted on cleaning out the mug that I had purchased for me, and asked if there was anything else he could do to help. I then purchased E85 without incident. Hy-Vee is nowhere near my home in Lansing, Michigan, but boy I wish they were. I was very thankful, and thanked the employee several times - he insisted that its just what Hy-Vee does, and he was very modest about it. Unless they drop E85, I will be stopping by here to get fuel and coffee next time I'm out in Iowa.

The staff is always helpful and the store is consistently clean. I love the business model that allows their associates a little work life balance that many retailers don't take into consideration. The carry out service is still old school, but service is also evolving with self checkout and mobile ordering and pick up as well.

I'm always singing the praises of Cash Saver, and how much money I save there. When they first…read moreopened two years ago, I did a comparison shopping trip, buying first at Cash Saver, and then getting the exact same items at Hy-Vee, and seeing the difference in my total. I saved 60% on my total bill shopping at Cash Saver, even factoring in the 10% to the total that Cash Saver adds. I decided (on a whim, and just for fun) to try this little experiment again. The only thing Cash Saver had that wasn't available at Hy-Vee was egg nog. I substituted egg nog (1.96) for eggs at Hy-Vee (1.99). Otherwise, the Best Choice store brand was switched to the Hy-Vee store brand, national brands stayed the same. Here is my total: 34 items, Cash Saver 63.85 34 items, Hy-Vee 128.35 -0.03 for egg nog THIS IS A TOTAL SAVINGS OF 64.47! And, that is also accounting for the 10% added to the total. I have never had an issue finding what I need here. I love this store. Before you dismiss it, learn your way around the store. At least try getting your staples here. Sometimes I see expired products, just let the manager know.Its because not a lot of people are shopping here, and that's a shame.

The customer service area should not be shut down with the lights off during business hours.. I've seen several customer needs not being met because of this .I myself had to go to Hy-Vee to get my much needed service. Sign me up! I can kill a couple hours in Waukee. I swung into the Wine & Spirits department and picked up a ticket about 400 PM. The raffle was at 600 PM. Between 400 and 600 PM I grabbed some Hy-Chi and ran a couple other errands. Quite the whiskey selection at this location! The raffle kicked off right at 600 PM and was very well run. The staff was polite and did an awesome job. It was great to get to network and spend some time with others with similar interests. The bourbon community is just that...a community. And walking away with a bottle Eagle Rare at MSRP was pretty cool too...!
