I shop here instead of Walmart when I can get away with it. I think they have a better selection and I just enjoy the atmosphere. It is more expensive for most things, but there are always trade offs. There is a health food area and I frequent it. I can get healthier snacks and things otherwise non-existent at Walmart. There is a pretty great cafe attached to the supermarket that has a good breakfast and I believe lunch and dinner. I reviewed that separately last time I was home. The store deli and bakery offer wonderful things. There is a meat counter that I use regularly when home. The store also has already prepared food and snacks. In addition to the cafe there is a pretty extensive liquor store also attached. They have a really good beer selection along with liquor. There is a gas station out front. For this tiny town it's a great grocery store. read more

This is a review for the food counter / market. We stopped in on a long road trip to stretch our legs and snag some lunch. There's a huge selection of in store items and daily meal specials. We got premade sandwiches (2.99) chips (1.49) and a fountain soda (1.99). The meal wasn't bad, and the atmosphere was very that of out 65+ friends. There daily meal specials range from all you can eat Chinese buffet, to 2 tenderloin sandwiches for 6$. The biggest missed opportunity on my part was the fruit, salad, and dessert bar. 5$ for all you can eat fruit, salad, and desserts. It looked like a good deal, all of the product looked very fresh and well maintained, although we were there at 11, I'm sure someone arriving at 5pm might be a little more cautious. Just ate at hyvee with my girlfriends Tuesday, yesturday, for lunch. I had the all you can eat salad bar. Everything was fresh and delicious. Lots af fresh fruit, salads, and two soups. Try the cheese chowder if it one of the choices. Since it was TUESDAY, the price was only $5.00 and if you are a senior, coffee is free. There was another TUESDAY special, 2 tenderloins sandwiches for $5.00 and they are huge. If you are there for breakfast on senior day, TUESDAY , not only is the coffee free but there is a breakfast special. read more

Hyvee is generally known for its service! I've been to many many of them but getting service at the deli counter in this one is tough. I've stood there waiting while other employees working right nearby don't even acknowledge that you are waiting for someone, although it's patently obvious! Also, the service at the bakery is even worse!!!! They will flat out ignore you!! I've never ever experienced that at another Hyvee! Some of the employees here act more like Walmart employees! However, they do have one of the better breakfasts in town. Much better than Butch's and light years better than Papa George's! The only downside is the horrible Caribou coffee!! To add to this...their deli counter has improved but the bakery is still horrible with service! Butcher guys are great!! read more

Gas prices were a bit high compared to the other small towns we had driven through previously that day in Iowa, but the extra 5 or 10 cents a gallon was well worth it for the very CLEAN bathrooms. After 5 hours straight in a car, I am more concerned about the bathrooms than the price of the gasoline. The store was also spotless and the folks friendly. read more

This review is for the kitchen/restaurant section. I ordered an omelette with everything but green peppers, no toast and asked for gravy on the hash browns in lieu of toast. They gave me what I wanted but charged me extra for the gravy, which was annoying. My local Hy Vee store doesn't do this. The omelette was very small and the sausage gravy was absolutely too funky for words, having some weird taste. Too little food for nearly ten bucks. I won't be going back. read more

Stopped here for gas on 9/8/17. Advertised price was $2.35 a gallon prepay. After filling up and checking the receipt later, found I had been charged $2.84 a gallon !! Total false advertising! What a rip off ! read more

Expensive! This is not my normal grocery store because I can go elsewhere and pay a lot less. They do stock a lot more options so I go there for hard to find items. Cashiers are generally not friendly or helpful. Several times I've gone to the checkout to be ignored completely. read more

I have always had good experiences at this specific Hy-Vee gas station but they don't compare to the experience I had the other day. After a long day of running errands with my 5yo,3yo and 4 month old I was on empty and thought I'd try to pay at the pump with my Hy-Vee fuel saver card. I had some complications but I needed gas to get home so I got my babies out into the 90° weather and talked to the very friendly cashiers. I was told to go back out and pump, so we went back out and I was just hoping and praying that I would finally have it figured out because my babies and I were drenched in sweat, my 4 month old was screaming and my patience for the day was almost nonexistent. We got out to the truck and I began pumping. I got to about 6 gallons and it stopped. Why did it stop? My 3yo had pushed the lever and stopped the gas! I was ready to cry , scream and pull my hair out. We went back in so I could explain what happened and I was about to combust from all of the stress of the day. The cashier told me what needed done and then proceeded with "you and your babies stay in the air conditioning, I'll go pump your gas for you". I was so relieved and appreciative I could have cried! As we were waiting the 2 oldest began to run around and another cashier asked me if they could have cookies. Once again, I was so thankful (i usually don't give them sugar but I really wanted them to sit still). The first cashier came in to tell me she was done, rang me up and let me know she also made sure none of my fuel saver points were wasted and I paid my $6.21 for the gas and left. People who are so willing to help like those ladies were give me hope in humanity. I don't know if they'll ever fully know how much that meant to me. read more
