We stopped here in the middle of a camping trip and after some poor planning, we needed a full grocery overhaul. My husband and i set out to Hyvee to grab some stuff to make all the fixings. We found everything we needed and quickly! This store is layed out like other hyvees. Fresh produce and fresh fruit. We got good cuts of meat and ground beef for chili. nice to have this closer to the lake vs heading all the way to Crofton for Walmart. read more

I recently got to see the HyVee bakeries in Brookings and Sioux Falls. Their bakery case was lovely with macaroons, cupcakes that were decorated with flowers, mini pies, and Victoria cakes. Compared to them, the bakery in Yankton sucks. The donuts are not as good as they used to be and there is very little variety. Unless you want a birthday cake. They have plenty of those. And pretty much only those. read more

Extremely disappointing. This store frequently has no stock of weekly advertised sale items. Not like they've run out, they just don't have items in stock. I've checked on the first sale day, and I've checked on the last sale day. They usually don't stock those sale items until a day or two after the weekly ad has ended. This is often called Bait & Switch, and numerous states (including South Dakota) have laws banning such deceptive practices. We had tried calling this to the attention of Corporate Offices, but never receive a reply. I can only guess it'd deliberate. See attached pic. Will continue to add more to show the large scope of the problem. I have never seen another grocery chain act with such lack of ethics and with such complete disregard for the law. And it happens every single week. The store is always cluttered. Store carts, boxes, displays, and other assortment of random clutter make it tough to get around. Especially when Shoppers stop in the middle of aisles & chat with one another, completely blocking aisles, which strangely happens a lot. And then there's the store Employees whom seem to find it ok to visit with one another right in the middle of aisles. Seemingly completely oblivious of the Customers around them whom are trying to get around. The self checkout counters are often a cluster. Numerous Customers often standing, waiting for help, which is incredibly slow to come, for machines that are constantly in error. I always hear people talk about how terrible the store is, watching their frustration grow as they wait for help. This place makes Walmart look good, and that isn't easy. And the produce is amongst the worst I've ever seen. The onions are always damaged & moldy. Other veggies are often wilted and/or damaged. Hy-vee is always my last resort for shopping. I recommend that anyone else that is noticing this trend of missing/not-stocked sales items to: 1) File a complaint with the FTC. 2) File a complaint with the Attorney General of your state. Though those complaints likely won't get immediate attention and/or action, enough complaints will eventually get that attention & action. If businesses can't do the right thing on their own, they need to be held accountable for that failure. read more

This grocery store is amazing! Large fresh, beautiful selection of fruits and vegetables. Great bakery and an even more amazing long meat counter with more options than one can imagine! Love the Asian, comfort food, and pizza that you can order hot and fresh. Not to mention fresh soups and a salad bar! What a great selection for a grocery store! I only wish I had one where I live! This store has the WORST self checkout of any store I have ever shopped at. The scanner does not recognize produce. If you put an item in a bag you have moved it protests and makes you wait for assistance. The baggage area is small and you can not put anything in the cart after checking out without completing the transaction. Help is slow and the check out did not print a receipt. I will avoid shopping there from now on. If you only have a couple of check outs manned the least the store can do is make self checkout easy. read more

We have company in town from GA. We brought my husband's mother and her mother-in-law to this particular Hyvee (Sycamore and 26th) specifically because of the bulk candy. It was approximately 930 pm. My mother-in-law LOVES chocolate stars and she was so excited as she scooted her little scooter over to the candy tubs. (Like, Excitement so much that I took pictures, Excitement).They scooped up some in a bag, and went to weigh them. There was no tag to enter. We went to the nearest Hyvee employee, and asked for assistance. He came over and sounded jovial, asking who was causing problems. We smiled and told him the problem. We thought he was kidding as he said "I can't believe they keep doing this to us. I have to just take this away." He then picked up the tub and started walking away. We kind of laughed, and said wait, we have already got some in a bag, which is ready to weigh. He said where are they. my husband looked at me, and then took the bag to him. The man said "I have to take these too. It upsets me, probably more than you." We asked if there was a manager or something that could price them to sell for her. He said, "If there was a guy to do it, it would be me, and I don't know. I just can't." He started to walk off, and my mother-in-law said "Wait, can I just have 1?" As he is walking away, about 20 feet away, he said "No, that's the equivalent of stealing. you don't ask McDonald's for 1 fry." Her face fell. How frustrating and embarrassing. We went there specifically for that, she was so excited, and then the candy got taken from her. Literally. Yes, the equivalent would have been stealing to just take them, even 1, but we wanted to pay. Hell, I would have left 1.00 for her to just have 1 chocolate star. It made the whole group of us uncomfortable, and some of us sad. I'm just very disappointed. Not very good customer service Hyvee. read more

I have never had a problem with the Yankton Hy-Vee and have gotten the Chinese take numerous times but I picked up an order tonight as we are visiting got home and had ordered beef and broccoli , Hunan pork. There was literally 1 slice of beef and 1 slice of pork. I also asked for cashew chicken and she asked if I wanted cashews on it unbelievable. read more

This is my first time in the Yankton hyvee. For the most part I was very impressed with the service. Every employee I ran into in the store greeted me with a smile and was very helpful in helping me find the product I wanted. But, my hyvee was soon ruined as the seafood manager, I believe his name was Travis, ruined it for me. He stated to insult me for wearing my Iowa Hawkeyes sweatshirt. Not only did he insult me, he refused to take my order.. I had to find someone else to take my order. I don't know how hyvee would let a guy like him be manger this was just embarrassing to hyvee. This will be my last time I step foot in this store. read more
