    70 year Bday party
    Russell G.

I came free to join in with my friend who I call my baby brother to surprise his wife with a surprise birthday party. He used a back room to have a party. I walked in and noticed the setting was very nice. The buffet was set on the from with seating in the middle and DJ was in the back. We had a ball. After we ate the buffet was moved and we had ample space to dance. There was a cash bar right outside the room with bathrooms close by as well. There was a service man that worked the room that, in my opinion, was the best that I have ever seen. He kept the tables cleaned off while joining in on the fun. Parking was available right outside in the rear. I do recommend this place

Not impressed Don't get me wrong. I've stayed in worse than the Hyatt but expected less. Unfortunately I would describe as Very dirty. They sweep the floor, but sweep everything into a corner and don't actually pick up what in the corner. I stayed in a king suite. While it was roomie, the bathroom light was not bright enough for me to see what I was doing to put make up on. In fact, the room lights are not very bright at all. I think that's intentional so you can't see how gross and dirty the place is. Thankfully the "kitchen" had a mirror so I could do my makeup in decent lighting. I didn't use the coffee maker in the room as it was pretty gross and old so I doubt it gets properly cleaned. The fridge had mold in it but so did the shower. I checked in at like 3:30 and ended up in 1 of the only 2 rooms on the floor that wasn't being cleaned. An accessible room I didn't need. But someone else in my group checked in at 6:30 and their room wasn't even ready. So much for 3:00 check in. That's probably because the cleaning crew was still cleaning the rooms on my floor. They were playing music loudly from their cart in the hallway and yelling across the floor to each other. That wasn't at all annoying. Well is was less annoying than the party someone on my floor was having. Loud talking from lots of people and doors opening and closing. People up and Ken the halls talking. Guess I didn't really need sleep anyways. The micro towels barely fit around me. And I'm not a big woman. Room only came with 3 so I went to the front desk to get another. Towel on left where what came in my room Right was what front desk gave me Went down to breakfast on my first morning. First of all it's breakfast so why does the sign say no pajamas? If you're on vacation why can't you eat breakfast in your pajamas. So dumb. The staff left the kitchen door open so you can see if they have an actual kitchen, but they do not use it for breakfast as everything looks like it's pre-cooked reheated food. I will say I appreciate the actual hard boiled eggs as they are still in the shell so I know they're not coated in a chemical. The fruit options were different as I don't think I've seen dragon fruit at any other hotel breakfast so that was awesome. They literally ran out of coffee every morning within the first hour of breakfast being served. Doesn't seem well planned. Stayed 4 nights before housekeeping even came to my room to clean it. They claimed to clean every 2 nights but that didn't happen. All and all there are better places to stay in Hoover

Trash and other things just thrown in parking lot, not kept up or clean.

I would give it less if I could. Came in for reunion. Brought bags in, changed and didn't come back till 2:30 am. Got in bed, and the sheets were so worn they were pilling like little tiny sweater balls with dark spots. Almost looked like bugs. The pilling made my skin crawl, it was disgusting. Tried to sleep, but couldn't as it felt so nasty. Went down to office at 3:45 to complain, but get a sheet to cover it up. The episode caused major anxiety and struggled to fall asleep. Next day went to speaker with manager, but she was off. Explained what happen and they said housekeeping manager would check on it. She never did. Came back that night to find the beds weren't even made up, they never even came to room. It would have been beautiful room with decor and all, but carpet stains, they hadn't vacuumed as stuff on carpet, a pill on floor in bathroom. The shower curtain liner was half-hazards snapped in to wring snaps and many not snapped. No shower gel... etc. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

about 10:30 PM on a Friday night to check in to the hotel was checked into a room. The first room we enter the toilet was full of poop and a lot of mold in the bathrooms. We were told it was no more rooms I wasn't settl for that so I kept making a big deal about it because that means someone needs to clean the complete bathroom plus mold was in the room really bad so she gave us two different rooms. Give us the keys to the rooms first one people personal things were still in the room and that room was dirty then we got into another room. It was OK sad part they covered up everything from manger but I had photos to prove it i don't recommend this hotel definitely needs a update

No idea what this is under the headboard

Not the worst I've ever stayed in, but it ranks right there down with some of the worst.

TV didn't work. They only clean if you ask. Room had a stale dirty smell. Poorly managed and maintained. Won't ever stay there again.

Cold scrambled eggs, fake bacon with most other items (French toast) clearly sitting for hours. We ate at 8am. As an IHG member for many years, I've not experienced such poor breakfast quality before. I expressed my disappointment upon checking out and the desk staff member stated she would add additional member points to my IHG account which she didn't. So to pay $13.95 x 2 being a IHG member for such a disappointing meal tarnished our entire stay. My wife and I went out to a local restaurant for a quality breakfast unable to eat at the hotel. Never was a credit offered to my bill and as said only a false promise to provide additional points was offered. Very poor customer service at this hotel.

I went down to ask if anyone could check it out- I was told no. The front desk staff told me the AC was on a motion sensor. Interesting. How does it cool when I sleep? I let my friend know- who was in the room; and it was now 77°. We met people in the lobby --- that were sitting there to cool off because their room was so hot. The also had a box fan to sleep. There is no maintenance on call; or anyone available. My option was to stay there, or checkout and receive a refund, as the hotel was fully booked. We opted to leave and low and behold ... no refund. We ended up at another hotel with great AC and breakfast for the same price. But now we have a bill for a room we did not stay in. I emailed the general manager .... crickets. I would update the review to reflect any communication- but I highly doubt we will receive it.

My only complaint was housekeeping. After being there 3 days I asked for light housekeeping (towels, vacuuming) the following day. The front desk person wrote it down I watched her do it. Next day, nothing no service. That evening I went back to the desk and asked for service again the next day and also to get needed towels. Next day, no housekeeping. I was leaving two days later so didn't see much sense in being disappointed again. I understand hotels are having it rough with housekeeping and ask you coordinate for service but they need to follow through. I am pretty low maintenance I remove my trash daily, keep the room tidy but can't vacuum or really wipe down surfaces. I just expect follow through. The property in certain areas is showing some age but they seem to be doing some updates and catching up on maintenance. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

1/2 recently checked…read moreinto the Courtyard by Marriott in Hoover, Alabama, on Montgomery Highway. After entering my room, I went to inspect the bathroom before using it, as I always do when staying at a hotel. The shower immediately caught my attention. The shower door only opened from one side, and once I opened it, I found multiple shoe prints inside the shower--leading into it and directly beneath the shower head. The shower also had an unpleasant odor and appeared unclean. Because of its condition, I didn't even bother checking the water pressure. I went to the front desk and spoke with Reggie, asking if someone from housekeeping could clean the shower. He informed me that no housekeepers were available. He then asked whether the footprints were on or near the "shower pan." When I told him I wasn't familiar with that term, I showed him the photos I had taken. After seeing the pictures, Reggie explained that the footprints were "normal" because housekeeping had cleaned the shower pan and simply walked through the shower afterward. He also told me he was the former head of housekeeping and assured me this was standard procedure. I respectfully disagreed. If housekeeping has to enter the shower during cleaning, the shower should still be spotless before the room is released to a guest. Visible shoe prints and an unpleasant smell should never be considered acceptable. When I expressed that concern, Reggie stated that once I took a shower, the footprints would wash away. That response completely missed the point. Guests should not have to clean a shower before feeling comfortable using it. A clean, odor-free bathroom should be the standard--not something a guest is expected to finish cleaning themselves. I asked whether another room was available, but I was told there were none. What disappointed me most wasn't just the condition of the shower--it was how my concern was handled. Instead of acknowledging the issue or trying to make it right, I was repeatedly told that the condition of the shower was "normal." I expect a higher standard of cleanliness and customer service from a Courtyard by Marriott, and unfortunately, this experience fell well short of those expectations. After leaving the front desk, I decided to stop by the hotel bar to relax after driving from Oklahoma City. Ironically, I had stayed the night before at the Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Oklahoma City near the Thunder arena, and the experience there was exceptional. The difference between that property and this one was like night and day. I walked up to the bar and was greeted by a bartender named Kecia. I smiled, said hello, and asked how she was doing. Her response was short and lacked any warmth. Trying to make conversation, I asked if the bar had any drink specials. She simply replied, "No," in a tone that made it seem like my question was an inconvenience. I ordered a Crown Royal and Coke and noticed three specialty beers in the cooler. Since I wasn't familiar with them, I asked what they were. She told me she didn't know. I then politely asked if I could see one of the cans so I could read the label. She picked one up, placed it on the bar without saying a word, and stared at me while I looked it over. After reading the label, I decided I'd like to purchase it. When she brought my drink and beer, I noticed the top of the can--the part you drink from--was dented. I politely asked if I could exchange it for another one. She looked directly at me for several seconds without saying anything, took the damaged can, placed it back in the cooler, grabbed another one, set it on the bar, and walked away without saying a single word. I thanked her, paid for my drinks, and left a tip anyway. She never acknowledged my thanks, never smiled, and never said, "You're welcome." What stood out to me wasn't just the lack of friendliness--it was the complete absence of hospitality. As someone who spends a large part of the year in Marriott hotels because of my job, I don't expect every employee to be overly cheerful. I do, however, expect basic courtesy and professionalism. Unfortunately, from the front desk to the bar, I never felt welcomed as a guest. That, more than anything else, is what made this stay so disappointing.
