    carpet with stains.

The lobby is OK and you have to take an elevator up to the second floor to check in. Also, parking is across the street where you have to know your license plate. The breakfast was OK and it was included, which was very nice the room that I was in had some issues with a draft coming in from the window. Also, the bathroom wasn't as clean as it should be with two tiny towels and the sink did not drain correctly so I had to change rooms. The new room had noise coming from the outside, which was due to all the rooftop conditioners and heating equipment all night. I heard a knocking I could not sleep at all. The carpet has some stains on it and it does have a musky old smell to it. The wallpaper is coming off in spots. If you can get a deal a cheap deal then it's a OK place to stay. I really like that it's quiet somewhat and you could check out noon time.

Note: This review was updated a month after I wrote my initial review. This hotel is part of a larger complex including condos, a TARGET, and attached Federal Taphouse restaurant. I did not need parking but it is located nearby in a deck. The location is very close to campus, plus campus shuttles and public transit stops are nearby. My room was modern, neat, and clean (other reviews indicated problems I did not have). Water pressure for a shower was good (not great) and the water was hot, neat trick in many high rise hotels. There is no fan in the bathroom, so be forewarned. The website does offer some slightly confusing information on dining options, even the staff said that. Federal Taphouse restaurant is the de facto hotel restaurant (a separate business) and I would highly recommend on food quality and adult beverages selections. The hotel does have a very good free breakfast offering in a nice seating area away from the check in areas. A third restaurant basically functions as a bar opening around 4 pm. If none of this works, downtown has many offerings and cuisines. The only major issues I had was (1) no housekeeping during a five day stay. I even requested it mid-week, never happened, mystified why, and (2) I was changed for parking when I did not need it, and it took serious discussion to remove the charge. I expected more from Hyatt in providing the basic services of housekeeping and getting the bill straight. Aside from these two items, overall everything else was really good and if you are staying in the area consider this hotel.

I stayed here on a business trip on a Thursday night. Great location in downtown State College and walking distance to the downtown bars/restaurants. When I arrived around 2:30 (check-in is at 3 pm), the area you park to check-in was small and already full. The hotel is on the left side of Beaver Ave and the parking garage is on the right side--there is no street parking. I pulled into the parking garage and grabbed a ticket, although for hotel guests there is an area to swipe your hotel room key and parking is then added to your bill ($11) and parked. I walked over to the hotel and checked in (check in on second floor). They will take the parking garage ticket from you and add it to your bill. No biggie. The room was really nice/clean with a king size bed near the 6th floor window with a view over part of town, mostly other building roofs, but it was still a nice view. There was also a mini sectional couch, a coffee maker and a mini-fridge (usually standard in most hotels). A pretty decent breakfast buffet was included that had scrambled eggs, sausage, hard boiled eggs, fruit, fruit juices, oatmeal, pancakes, waffle maker, coffee, and a mix of potatoes and sausage. We visited the bar area while waiting on other people to arrive. It's small but had a decent choice of beers and liquors. The bar staff was very personable. We used a conference room for our meeting with a conference call phone. They placed bottles of water at every place setting, which was nice, but the water was warm. The only thing we didn't really like was that we had to give a staff member of the hotel our call in number, passcode and security (host) code as they wouldn't let us dial out on our own. This is the only place we've ever been that requires this. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and we intend on returning for future meetings/overnight stays.

Long black hair in dirty shower

This hotel was filthy. I cannot believe it is a Hyatt. The carpet was dirty, stained and didn't appear to have been vacuumed in quite some time. Even worse, the bathroom had not been cleaned. The shower still had long black hair all over it when I walked in. I have blonde hair..... so Hyatt housekeeping has no recourse in this discussion. The bathroom had not been cleaned before it was assigned to me....which made me curious about the sheets and towels. We're they clean, or simply reused?

The hotel has staff that has no idea what attention to detail means. I checked in a few hours ago, went to eat, and when I came to take a shower, I found a dirty bathroom. The towels had hair on them.

    Water

I went to the Hyatt's bar on the second floor and ordered a water. It was great! It was the perfect cold temperature with ice AND it even had a slice of lemon in it. Delicious!

New hotel convenient to Penn State University Park campus. Offers free breakfast and $10 in and out parking directly across the street. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Our rate for admitted students day was a reasonable $93 dollars for a room with 2 queens and a sofa bed. Staff friendly and check-in a breeze. Decent room view on 6th floor of campus, town and distant mountains. Couple of items making this a just ok place: Enter at street level to an empty lobby and bell desk. Took some time to figure out reception desk was on the second floor. No ice machine installed during our visit, already in jambes, so I had to forgo ice in my nightcap. Lastly, attempted to book a room for student drop off in August, and found that the best price for the room was 4x times what we paid.

Location location location this hotel has a great location. Right in the center of town next to an above a Target Store. They have free parking in the parking deck across the street. It's walking distance to almost everything in town. It was reasonably clean in a much newer facility. Much better than some of the older ones I've stayed at in town. I was a little disappointed with the blackout shades they worked about 95%. One of them had some damage to it and let a little bit of light in. Otherwise I'll be staying at this hotel from now on anytime I visit State College.

We had a door that was basically to the entrance. We had to keep the blackout shade down the whole time instead of having a window we could look out of sometimes. The lights in the bathroom were crazy bright with no other option and came on with a sensor you could not turn off. Our second night, the sensor must have been tripped by people walking too close to our door (they went on as soon as you entered the room), since the lights went on without either of us getting out of bed twice. This woke me up and disturbed our sleep. Very annoying. Lionne's food was great, but the service was definitely not very good. Friendly, but not good - especially for breakfast. You pay for parking too. They charge you per night and give you two tickets to get out. You have to pay any other time. They did charge slightly less than you'd pay otherwise, but not much. If not walking to your events on campus, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

Having stayed at many Hiltons, this was incredibly disappointing. Outside of front desk team…read moremembers being friendly, the overall experience has been well below general expectations for a Hilton - and even basic expectations of any hotel! Some serious concerns about this hotel: 1- First night the air conditioning would not work. It was uncomfortably hot in the room. Called the front desk and the person said no one was around to help - so "just open a window." We did, and had an evening with an open window with no screen. Luckily no daredevil squirrels climbed in and no birds - or bats - chose to invade our space! 2- After three days - there had been no room service. No fresh towels - no emptying of trash - and no replacement of toilet paper. This was after I was leaving the room one day and "room service" was at the door and, in a somewhat rude manner, asked: "Do you want room service?" I said - "oh yes - thank you - I was just leaving." She appeared to go into the room - but I have no idea what she did as, again, no towels were changed out, trash was still in the trash cans, and beds were not made. 3- We ran out of toilet paper, so we asked for some - and then went out. I have included a picture of what we found upon our return - toilet paper left outside of the room - not even brought into the room and put on the roller. 4- An unexplained charge appeared on my card from the hotel - at 11:11 PM when the whole family was in bed. I inquired on this, and as of this time, no one at the hotel can figure out what was charged - still waiting on that to hopefully be explained and, if in error, resolved. 5- The treadmill in the gym has been broken and out of order - as such, I had to go to Planet Fitness. Yet, we have been charged a $10/day "resort fee." This is NOT a resort - and am entirely unclear what this $10 a day charge is going toward. 6- While hot water worked in the morning - by 9:00 PM we did not have any hot water. I called and the person at the front desk said "oh, just keep the water running - it has to come from the other side of the building so it takes awhile to heat up." Uhm, we left it running for about 10 minutes - just cold water. I am unsure how this hotel was allowed to have the Hilton name. Needless to say, we will not be staying here again.

The Graduate by Hilton in State College PA had a planned shutoff of water for several hours the…read moremorning of June 1. I confirmed this the night before with the front desk attendant who seemed reluctant to volunteer the information despite several leading questions from me. I saw no attempt made to notify guests. The corporate guest services office kept insisting the local staff attempted to call customers and notify those just checking in but I'm dismayed that neither I nor anyone in my group was contacted - and had to confront the front desk after another member of my party found out only by questioning a slip made by a staff member. Not having any water at all for several hours is more than discomfort - it's a serious sanitation issue - toilets won't work, restaurant may violate health codes etc. note the "boil water" health department door hanger pictured. And just how am I going to do that in a hotel room? While the outage was not under Hilton's control, failure to use every means to inform guests is unacceptable. A sign in the lobby, notes passed under doors, anything would be better than nothing. Similarly, accepting bookings without disclosure would be wrong if management was aware of this planned outage. To me this goes to basic professionalism and integrity. It's a breach of trust. Therefore I do not plan to book with any Hilton brand in the future.
