Had a great experience my first time there. Steaks were great. Second time there was a giant fat cap on some New York strips and I asked to have that cut off and removed so I wasn't paying for the excess fat. They claimed that they did that took care of it and then I got home after paying $150 for five small steaks And 1/3 of the width of the steak was a fat cap. A bad cut as a bad cut, but when you get lied to by the butcher to your face, unacceptable. read more

Great store! Small family-ran neighborhood store with a lot of food necessities, as well as rare delicacies. I was looking for a locally grown chicken and aged steaks and they carry both! I was also happy to see that they carry veggies, local breads from 16 Bricks Bakery, as well as condiments to prepare food. I got myself a Valentine's dinner treat: a dry aged Porterhouse cut. I was given good instructions on how to prepare it at home and grabbed the high smoke point avocado oil too. I am not a pro, but the pandemic forced us to cook more at home than I used to, so having access to such delicacies on a daily basis is great and I will visit this store more often now! God I love this place. An independent corner store in 2022. Love it. The owner is always there, I don't think he takes a day off. He takes pride in making front look festive for all seasons and the i side is immaculately clean. Super kid friendly. Super nice to kids. (Spot Spider-Man!) The workers are always the same crew. Very friendly and warming upon entering. Always joking with the clientele. The fish freshness is second to none I've had in Cincinnati. The copious amount of premade selection of sides, dips, and salads is both tantalizing and delicious. Haven't had one I don't like yet. read more

HORRENDOUS SERVICE. WILL NOT BE COMING BACK. We live literally next door to the place and have spent hundreds of dollars at this store but today were met with unacceptable customer service. The first time we came in we were encouraged to order meat by the slice, and we're met with exceptional customer service. Kudos to this employee. But today we ordered what we have many times, and were met with the biggest eye-roll I have ever received. No response from the guy and looked at us like we were dirt. Didn't say a word, moped and continued to shake his head right in our face. Terrible. I don't know if this guy is the owner and thinks he can treat people how he pleases but he just lost a loyal customer who will be discouraging anyone in the neighborhood / visitors from stepping foot in there. This is the local butcher you've been looking for, and they can get whatever part of whatever animal you want or need. Prime brisket? Got it. Dry aged steaks? Got it. Fresh sustainable seafood? Got it. On top of that, they have a nice ever changing small selection of microbrews and wines. And the staff is top notch. Remembers me by name and goes above and beyond to deliver. Only one complaint, they need to add "Fine Fish" to their name. This is by far one of the gems of Cincinnati. Quietly tucked away on a small street in Hyde Park, everything is right about this place from the food, to the service, to general sense of well-being. Went in today (couple days before Christmas) to just get a couple things to order. They were beyond backed up with pick up orders and you could tell the owner and staff were frustrated, but the workers stepped up and got all of the walk in orders taken care of instead of giving walk-ins a hard time. One worker went above and beyond and I didn't get his name, but he was told not to do custom orders but found time to get everyone exactly what we needed rather than just pre packed. This place has always delivered high quality stuff and would highly recommend checking them out. read more

This place is great -- they have a great selection of meats you won't find at the supermarket, they're knowledgeable, and their seafood counter is fabulous. This local deli is under new ownership and still a little raw but super friendly and a nice hidden gem. They offer a wide variety of lunch meats and cheeses and their sandwiches are delicious and a solid value at $6 dollar. Add chips and a drink for another $1 and you got yourself nice little lunch. I don't buy a lot of meat, but when I do, I get it from Hyde Park Meats. This is the type of family owned, local business that makes a neighborhood more than just a bunch of people living in the same place. There is absolutely nothing pretentious about this place. They sell quality food and treat their product with care and attention. In addition to top-notch beef, pork, and deli meat, they also have all kinds of salads, spreads, sauces, and (sometimes) soups. They also have a decent selection of other kitchen staples like bread, canned goods, milk, eggs, produce, beer, and wine. It can be a little pricey, if you compare it with a place like Kroger, but when was the last time someone at Kroger asked if they could help you and really seemed like they wanted to do it? We arrived 15 minutes before closing. The shop is small so it would not have taken more than 60 seconds for us to walk around, look at the options and place our order. As soon as we walked in and started checking out the produce options, the young white man behind the deli/meat counter rudely called us over to his counter and rushed us to place an order. We stopped looking at the produce and approached the counter, despite his rude tone, and asked him to identify what was behind the glass because there were no labels. He rolled his eyes and reluctantly read off the menu options. We made our selections and checked out. The gentlemen working the front and the seafood counter were nice but we will not be back. We want to support local businesses but the way employees speak to and treat customers matters. read more

This place is awesome! I saw their sign outside and wanted to see what they were offering their wag you New York strip is stunning! They also offer a wide range of other cuts that look amazing and taste great. I believe that this is one of the hidden gems of Hyde Park and provides a superior quality to anything you can get in the grocery store I myself have traveled outside of the United States to Japan and had wag you there and this was very good in comparison. Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving, we stopped in to pick up up a couple steaks for Thursday (family plans fell through due to covid). As we pulled up, the store front and the guys hanging out at the side/back gave us the impression they had closed up for the week. They apologized about being closed, but offered to check if they had anything already cut. Lucky for us, they had a couple filets, which we gladly. They were fantastic. The owner of Hyde Park Fine Meats & Catering is an experienced chef, so the creations that you find in the case are not only the best, most fresh cuts of meat, but the mixed salads are finely crafted, and the homemade meatloaf and meat salads are so exceptionally tasty. If all you need is a quick grocery trip, they stock a small convenience store and produce stand to go along with your chops, steaks, links, and filets. This is now our go-to butcher in the area - we have yet to try ANYTHING from this butcher that is anything but exceptional. Also, TRY THE KIELBASA. I have not been a big fan of the grocery stores here in Cincinnati. It might be the only thing that is good about Youngstown, but... Y-town has some amazing family owned grocery stores, markets, and delis that have spoiled me and allowed me to reach relatively high levels of foodsnobbery. I'll share in future reviews. Anyways, I've been driving and walking by family-owned Hyde Park Meats for over a year now, and finally dropped in this evening to check it out. I was not disappointed. It's a relatively small market, and the main attraction is the deli counter. Service is by number, but since I was the only customer at the time I was promptly greeted and served. Meats included everything from steaks, roasts, sausages, whole chickens and pork chops to deli meats, Margherita pepperoni (yum!) and a respectable selection of Italian salami. A small selection of slice-able deli cheeses was also available, as well as an array of prepared foods - the homemade meatballs and lasagna looked fantastic. Opposite the deli counter is a cooler section with some veggies, eggs, milk, and drinks. Grocery selection was small but adequate: canned tomato sauce (even the super-large cans!), snacks, breads. I think I saw some jars of olives in there as well. The service was friendly and helpful from when I walked in to the moment I walked out. I never receive that kind of service at Kroger. Even if the prices are slightly higher than the chains, that small amount is worth it when you factor in the quality of the meat and personalized, friendly service. I have literally been living off their pasta salad and turkey for the past 3 years. A word of advise if you like buying your turkey from prepackaged containers or Kroger don't not get their turkey. I literally cannot eat any other turkey now cause my standards are too high. The most expensive turkey you find at any grocery store has not held a candle to theirs (I have looked). I would also advise you to stay away from their pasta salad. I have been addicted to it for the past three years now and have been unable to kick the habit despite attending numerous addiction therapy sessions. I can go through over 2 pounds of pasta in a single day, and it goes great with their turkey or some salami for protein. If you are readying this then you still may stand a chance!!!! I've done over 6 lbs of pasta in one week!!! DO NOT EAT THE PASTA OR TURKEY LEST YOU BECOME A SLAVE TO IT LIKE MYSELF! I stop in here sometimes after work to grab dinner for the grill. I usually get a couple of nice filets. Their meat is great quality, they have a nice selection of fantastic homemade dinners that are easy to pop in the oven, and a small selection of produce. The team is always very eager to assist, personable, and aim to please. Good wine and small beer selection but I can sometimes find a nice six pack of craft that the big box stores don't have. A little pricey but I'm happy to pay for better quality and support small business. Love this place! read more

I've used this meat market when I want to prepare special meals for many years and recommend it highly. The quality of the meat is exceptional as is the friendliness and helpfulness of the butcher and staff. Amazing local butcher shop--I love supporting small businesses! John, the owner, and his staff know get to know customers by name. The quality of the meats is outstanding. I get all our meats and sandwich fixings here weekly. They make their own sausages--many varieties! They also carry a great selection of local produce, wines/beers, ice creams, breads (including from Sixteen Bricks!) and many essentials so a separate trip to a big grocery is often unnecessary. Their prepared foods are excellent, too, but I love to cook so don't use them as often as some people. You can get whole meals here that are ready to heat and serve. I will never buy meat from a super market chain again! You think chicken tastes the same no matter where you buy? Wrong!!!! I bought my first order of chicken breasts from Hyde Park Meats and the flavor and texture isn't even comparable to a typical grocery store. There was no fat to trim because they already trimmed them up for me. They were so juicy and tender and the flavor was so rich! I even went and got wings from them for the super bowl. Meatiest wings ever and worth every penny. I have also bought beef tenderloin from them as well. Don't even get me started on the awesomeness we had for dinner that night! Not to mention the convenience of calling ahead, placing your order, pulling right up in front, and being in and out in a matter of minutes. They also have wonderfully fresh produce. If it isn't fresh it's not displayed. They also have pre made meals and desserts. Hyde park meats really is a one stop shop not to mention the Mayberry feel you get when you walk into the store.
