I want to make it clear that this is only my experience and I can't speak for anyone else, but I hated my time with this driving school. It had the potential to be a great experience until a couple things happened that completely turned it into a pretty terrible one. I bought the six hour package and can't recall my instructor's name but that may be for the best credibility wise. So the first day I was picked up and hopped into the car. I'd had about four hours of informal driving experience so I was pretty much new at driving. I told my instructor and he brushed it off. We started driving and immediately he was nit picky. You might be saying, "Well duh, Susan! Isn't he supposed to be telling you when you're making mistakes and how to correct them? That's what you're paying him for!" So true except if you answer someone with curt and condescending responses, you begin to lose confidence in yourself and seeing as how I was in a vulnerable position as a new driver, that was the worst. As the first lesson came to an end and I was driving home we began to make small talk about future pursuits. I mentioned I wanted to go to grad school and ultimately get my PhD to which he replied, "I don't mean to be racist, but normally Latina women want to have babies and start a family but not you, huh?" He laughs then goes quiet. Like, wtf? If you're going to be racist make sure you're being racist among other racists. Just a rule of thumb. No biggie. Second lesson he immediately begins to complain about all the work he's been doing and how he doesn't really like his job. He admits that he's stressed around new drivers, but hey it pays the bills. Definitely not the attitude you want to present to someone with hardly any experience behind the wheel. Additionally, this day he berated me throughout the two hours. He said things like, "How many times do I have to tell you!? Are you listening? Can you start taking this seriously!?" You might be asking, "Well were you?" YES GOD DAMMIT! I'm new! I'm trying to remember everything but as a new driver I just wasn't used to all the rules and tips. As the lesson comes to an end he keeps repeating, "You're going to need more lessons. You're going to need one or two more lessons. You will not pass." Like ok bro, got it. I'm a bad driver but I could really use some encouragement here! Third day was probably the best. I had trouble parking and I made that clear to him and he patiently taught me how. Drew it out and everything. We even had some cool conversations about comedians and public health. He took me to the DMV to do two practice runs which I messed up but he clarified my errors. It wasn't until the drive home however that it got bad. He chooses that time to say, "Ok from here on out I'm gonna tell you every time you make a mistake." Awesome, am I right? Who doesn't like hearing someone tell them every error they're making while they're making it? I also loved hearing that I probably would've failed if I took the test as soon as I pulled up to my house. Really makes me just want to keep driving, ya know? In the end, I did buy more lessons. With another school. I told my new instructor about my experience and by the end of my first lesson she was so confused. She said I needed some improvement but overall not the terrible driver my instructor made me out to be. Ended up passing my road test with ZERO mistakes and with a regained confidence in driving. read more

And this is One OF the best decisions I made in my Life . At first I took the 6hrs classes then I Will decide what to do after. My instructor was LEO. On my first day He Let me drove on the residential area and I must say I'm really a bad driver I can't even maintain my speed. On my second day I got really frustrated of my self but Leo is such a patient instructor he also gave me some motivating words. On my third day i can really see the difference from my first class. But I just decided to took 4 more hrs. To be sure that I Will pass the test at first time. On my 4 &5 day we mostly Review the dmv score sheet. And repeat over and over again which is a Good thing for student Like me. I took my test last monday and ta-da!! I passed in 1 take with 5 mistakes which is I think a Good score for a person who doesn't have driving experience at all. I just passed my test at the first attempt - and it is all down to my instructor, Mike! Honestly, if it wasn't for him I would have had no chance. I can't speak on behalf of the other instructors there, but Mike is the guy you want. Being an older guy his driving knowledge is vast, he is very calm, very wise, very encouraging and a natural teacher. He won my respect instantly with his patient and methodical approach. He is also very funny! Honestly I lucked out and couldn't have asked for a better instructor. I moved here from the UK where I only had a provisional license, as living in London you mostly use the Underground (Metro) or cabs. Upon moving here I needed to wait for a permanent resident's card before I could start driving, so at 29 I can be considered a latecomer to driving. Though I had some friends let me practice by driving their car around a few private roads in the UK, it wasn't until arriving in the US that I finally began driving in a real road environment. Because of this I anticipated I would need more lessons than I did. It only took 5 lessons with Mike to get me to a standard of driving that enabled me to pass first time. The staff at the school are also very nice. They are super flexible if you need to move an appointment and don't try to 'sell' you more lessons if you don't need them. From what I've heard about some other driving schools, I got extremely lucky when I found this place on Yelp and put my faith in the other reviews I read that all said only great things. I will be recommending the Hye School to anyone I come across who is looking to take driving lessons, and I will be particularly recommending Mike. The guy is a legend. read more

I failed 2 times before getting a instructor. I read some reviews and everybody loved Alfred and Mike. I called hye driving school and requested Mike. They had no problem giving me the schedule that I requested. Mike is an amazing teacher and will do whatever it takes to make you a better driver and for you to pass your behind the wheel driving test! If you make an error he will circle around and put you through that situation again until you get it absolutely 100% right! He doesn't just explain he actually teaches. He actually taught my mom 10 years ago? It was such an awesome coincidence. He has taught for 18 years and knows everything when it comes to driving. If you get scared sometimes at certain situations he will put you in those situations so you don't get nervous anymore. It might be scary at first but it's defiantly worth it. I found HYE Traffic and Driving School through Yelp, and chose to enroll in their classes because I am from New York City and had never driven before. I chose the 10 hours behind the wheel package with Alfred. He was extremely patient and clear while instructing and he made me feel very comfortable behind the wheel. Unfortunately, I did not take my test after my sessions were complete, and I waited about a year before I enrolled again. This time Steve was my instructor and he was just as knowledgeable and patient as Alfred. I took my driving exam after only 6 of the 10 hours and passed the first time with an almost perfect score (5 minor mistakes out of the allowed 15). I used my remaining 4 hours of classes to practice driving on the freeway and parking. I highly recommend this school to anyone who needs to learn California's driving laws or anyone who just wants a refresher course on safe driving. read more

I was most impressed with the program. My seventeen year old son has a very busy school & sports schedule. Despite this , Hye Driving School had no problem accommodating my son for a ten hour package. I was impressed that they included night-time & freeway driving as well as parallel parking. I'm 16 years old and took my required 6 hours with Alfred ("Mike"). We drove around the Glendale DMV and he taught me how to make U-turns, go over speed bumps, and get across dips. When I took the test, I didn't encounter any of these, but that's what made the test so much easier to get through. This is an overdue review, I enrolled a 6hours package with this driving school because they have a really good reviews on yelp, so my expectations are high. On my first day LEO my instructor picked me up, and to my surprise they are using an old model car, it's not that, when I get inside the car OMG! It was cluttered with clothes, papers, and it STINKS! But I just brushed it off, I have no choice, because I'm there already. So my first day started, he let me drive , I noticed right away that he has attitude the way he speaks, the choice of words. Because I was a new driver with no driving experience ever, so I keep doing mistakes, and his response was, " You're doing the same mistake again, what happened to you?" Can't you understand? Blah blah! Oh poor me, from that moment I felt so dumb, and to the extent I can't do anything right anymore,because I have no self confidence because of his comments. So, to make the long story short I finished my 6 hours with same instructor, imagine everyday, I will hear those humiliating comments from him? On my 3rd day, when I got home I cried, because I felt so humiliated, so dumb. So I decided to enroll again but it's with another driving school, my lessons went well, my new instructor was an angel, got a lot of patience and really knows her job, she told me that I am doing good, and I am ready for the test on my last day with her, and with God's help I pass my behind the wheel test. So for you out there who are trying to find a driving school, don't get fooled with the reviews and be tricked by the price too just like me. read more

This driving school does a great job of teaching you how to drive. They point out your mistakes, but also teach you the right way so you are well prepared. They also make sure that you have all the paperwork ready for the test. My teacher was Steve and we practiced a lot and he taught me some of the more difficult parts of driving like freeways (at least 4 kinds), parallel parking, and shopping mall parking. I would like to take the chance to thank Hye Traffic and Driving School for the highly experienced driving instructors. I took the 6 hours training to become more familiar with California's driving rules. Romeo did a great job, thumbs up! He is friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. At first he made me drive for about 15 minutes then he pointed out the mistakes I did. Then he started focusing on my mistakes. After the first session (which was 2 hours) I felt more confident and at the end of the 6 hours training I became familiar with the rules. Hye Traffic and Driving School scheduled the DMV behind-the-wheel test and on the day of my test Romeo gave me an additional 1 hour drive before the actual DMV test. I took the DMV test and I passed from the first time with ZERO mistakes! I am very pleased with my result and I highly recommend Hye Traffic and Driving School; especially Romeo. Hi every body i got to say that my friend recommended me about Hye traffic school I made appointment then I went over there i though it will be very boring and how am gonna spend 6 hours over there but I found very friendly environment over there . I learned some stuff i didn't know before about traffic it was very good lesson you go over there within 6 hours you have 2 breaks and lunch time so you wont sit all the 6 hours you can stretch and go out plus they serve coffee in the morning for first break and at lunch they serve Pizza they doing that from their kindness the instructor is very respectful and educated about traffic matter you can ask him any thing you want to clarify the whole satiation. He teach in details every possibilities you may face when you drive which i wasn't know about it all these years . He will discuss the mistakes and what you have to do at the end of the lesson there is test you take it and am sure you will pass it cause the instructor go over every thing when he teach you just need to pay attention and its very easy if you really pay attention I'm really satisfied about the whole thing very friendly people over there you wont regret when you go and learn there I personally recommend every body to go there and take the traffic school and it will not cost that much its only 40 $ Including coffee and lunch free plus good knowledge about the traffic law At the end i will say Thank you very much Hye traffic School read more

After reading the reviews for this place, I asked for Mike to instruct my teenage son. My son said Mike was friendly, however, after 4 hours of lessons, had only circled around the path that DMV would be taking him on for the test. Never had he been on a freeway, allowed to park without Mike doing all the steering, or run the controls on his own (Mike was almost always applying gas, brakes or steering the car). I don't know if this is the way all schools are run or not, but my son didn't learn very much. I had to be the first one to take him on a freeway, the one to teach him to park, ect. The family decided, that I should rent a car to take to my driving test. Been practicing on our minivan for a couple of months already. I was hesitant at first, didn't want to spend money. But I'm glad I did, it was money well spent. I passed the test 100%. The rental car was a basic car, no confusing buttons or switches. It was clean and in good working condition. They give you extra time to practice and get acquainted with the vehicle prior to taking the test. But I added a few more hours of practice just to get that extra cushion of confidence :-) My instructor was Mr. Romeo, speaks english fluently. He assessed my skills at the beginning and from there he worked on my driving skills and fine-tuned what I learned from my husband. Very well mannered, neat, and proper. There is a break a 15 mins break, for some classroom instructions. I asked him if I would need more hours to practice, and he said "No, you are ready". I'm glad for his honesty and encouragement. Testing day, he came and picked me up on time an hour before the test, to do a little bit more driving which really calmed my nerves. We lined up at the DMV, Mr. Romeo answered my last minute questions, gave me more encouraging words and the rest was history...Thank you Sir. My instructor Mike was a super friend gentlemen who complimented me on everything I did right, and patiently informed on things I did wrong. He gave me tips on what the driving test would consist of and where they would take me.
