Sadly, Zeke at HuyggeHus is unprofessional and retaliatory. He left me a one star business review a few weeks ago, at my company's Yelp site, because I left him a two star review on his Google site two months ago. The difference is that I dealt with him and his business HyggeHus, so my review is valid. But he never dealt with me or my business, so his one star review isn't valid. He's childish and retaliatory, to say the least. Did I mention he's suing me for libel for leaving him that two star Google review? Yes--it's true he's suing me for leaving him a two star review. He's litigious on top of being a complete weirdo. Watch your backs people, if you've ever dealt with HyggeHus or Zeke. He's sneaky and will hunt you down to retaliate. So now Yelp will hear about his bad review behavior too. And by all accounts, since I've dealt with him and his business, a 1 star Yelp Review from me is valid. SO, Zeke/HyggeHus IS GETTING A ONE STAR YELP REVIEW, because he's unprofessional, immature, retaliatory and is suing me for giving him a two star google review. AVOID Zeke (Ezekiel) D. O. I cannot recommend HyggeHus enough. I started this process skeptical and cautious after a terrible experience with another contractor, but working with Zeke, Shelley, and their team was the complete opposite. They were professional, communicative, thoughtful, creative, and the work is absolutely beautiful. The cabinetry is exquisite, the dust control was incredible, and even little things (like adjusting a door outside of their scope) showed how much they care. I'm so glad I trusted them. We just completed a big project with HyggeHus and are thrilled with the results. Our project remodeled and greatly expanded the size of three bedrooms through an addition on the back of the house, a new gable on the on front side of the house and a higher roof, all while maintaining the house's modest look and historic charm. It was a complex and multifaceted project, and we are super impressed with how the whole team at HyggeHus worked with us to make it happen. We spent around 6 months in the design phase, working principally with Zeke and McKenzie. The design phase can be overwhelming, but they did everything they could to help us visualize and understand it, and worked with our personalities and needs with great sensitivity and professionalism. I felt they were truly open-minded and deeply committed to making sure the plans we were hatching were the perfect fit for our unique family. They both worked very hard for us and demonstrated time and again that they understood our wishes and considered us equal partners. For example, we asked to integrate acoustical/sound considerations into the plan. Zeke had valuable background and understanding of how to do it, and worked with us and some materials we already had to come up with the strongest possible plan for the sound wall. Another example is how McKenzie stuck with me through multiple changes of mind related to lighting. I can't imagine getting through all those decisions without her discerning input, tireless encouragement and sharp eye for interior design. The construction process was about 7 months, from beginning to end, with some weeks being busier than others at our property. Jesse was the lead for the project on the ground, and he was a 100% dependable, constant presence. I felt I could completely trust that he was keeping a close eye on everything and personally ensuring that it was all done right. He has an eye for detail and a huge breadth and depth of professional experience that allows him to be confident and comfortable doing practically anything (or overseeing those who were doing it). He is also just a generous, good guy and highly communicative. He would always get back to me fast. We had super positive experiences with the subcontractors who worked for HyggeHus, too. HH are clearly very selective about who they bring in, and really bring in the best. Finally, we feel so lucky to have had Carolyn as the coordination and communication extraordinaire who ensured everything was running smoothly throughout construction. She has an absolutely killer skill set; she is remarkably empathetic, sensitive and caring - very down to earth and real. She is highly organized, a clear communicator, and an extremely responsive and attentive person. She also has massive flexibility and grace, is as approachable as they come, and handled every bump in the road in the most humble and trust-building way. You couldn't ask for a better person to manage all those moving parts. Our new spaces are just lovely, and the process of getting here was pretty lovely, too! I highly recommend HyggeHus. read more
