Brutal experience with this company. They never get back you, no matter how much you try to contact them. Trees were done weeks after the agreed upon date for no reason whatsoever. The owner, or whoever Mike is, was very rude to both my wife and I and his guys didn't even clean up after themselves. I was told all debris would be removed offsite but they made no effort to cleanup at all. My yard is full of wood chips and stump grindings. After they cut parts of the tree down they threw them on the ground, leaving huge divots in my backyard. I would not recommend this company to anyone in need of tree work. read more

I requested an estimate done on my home and Mike came out to our property and gave an estimate. We signed and returned the estimate as we were happy with the price . I tried to contact Hyperion several times over the last month to get a date . Unfortunately, they never responded with a date to do the work . I guess they chose not to want to do the work on my property anymore . I was just disappointed with the lack of interaction and communication if the company decided they didn't want to do the work . Received an estimate on 5/1/18 about tree removal and stump removal from back yard. Got written estimate and sent back with signature on 5/3/18 through email and all seemed well with a reasonable estimate; this was the fourth company that came out to look at the tree for complete removal. Got a text message about a week ago that the tree would be removed on Tuesday 6/5/18. This morning at 10:30am got a text that said "Looked at the tree again today and we are not able to do it due to safety concerns. Perhaps another company might want to do this job. Sorry for the confusion." One of their team professionals looked at the tree on 5/1/18, gave an estimate, had me wait 5 weeks because of previous appointments, then just says there was confusion? That isn't right by any standard, none of their safety risks were stated, and didn't offer any resources, alternatives, or ideas about next steps. Immediately called the number that text but no information about what was the safety issue and the person became condescending over the phone. I understand safety is important, however there could have been alternatives suggested besides googling another company. read more

In July, a 40' limb snapped off my red maple. At first I thought I'd give it a whack meself, with the old 16" electric chainsaw; I'd save some money. It was a foot in diameter and hung up, though, the classic widow maker. After calculating the physics of dropping it (on myself, my neighbor's stockade fence, or both) and realizing my life insurance amount wasn't the best for my wife, I called Hyperion. I also had a dying 20' sweet gum, so I threw the removal of that into the estimate, too. Mike quoted a very fair price and his men arrived within a week. Under the sweet gum I had planted annual vinca and they were growing very well. I mentioned to one of Mike's men, Kiko, that I hated tearing up the flowers because I wanted the stump ground and wished that he could surgically do the grinding without touching the vinca. He said, "Do you want to keep them? We can probably come back later." I was really startled that he said that and asked if it was possible. "I think so," he said, "Talk to my boss", and he handed me his phone. Mike agreed that they would come back after the flowers died in the fall. Kiko said, "I'd hate to lose the flowers." Me, too. So the vinca bloomed beautifully all summer and late into this hotumn, 'til a frost finally knocked them out. True to his word, Mike sent his Hyperions out and they ground the stump, leaving the area just as tidy as they did in July. Excellent, and good lookin' out for the customer. read more

I'm finally getting around to writing a review. We signed a contract to do a tree removal. The estimate was fair and they were initially very responsive. We would get periodic messages saying they would get back to us to schedule the appointment. (This was over a period of 60 days.) Then one day they said they would be out the next day to take the tree down. We were not available and had already moved on because they were not giving us any specific information as to when it would happen. It was unfortunate because we initially were pleased and wanted to work with them. read more

I heard so many good things about Mike and Hyperion, that we decided to move forward with them even though they were not the cheapest of the initial quotes we received. However I am truly appalled at the lack of customer service and would not recommend them, unless you are extremely flexible in when your tree removal gets done and don't care if they give you the run-around. I can't comment on the end results since they never actually showed up. Since early May after I agreed to move forward with them, they just kept saying "next week" and then next week would come, and they would say "next week" again, and ultimately even after apologizing and promising to give me a date, a week later I heard nothing. I pretty much never post negative reviews of businesses I know no one is perfect.. However this happened again and again and impacted installation of something for my son under where our tree is. I'm so disappointed and can not believe a potential customer would be treated this way, no matter the size of the job. read more

Just had the worst experience with Hyperion. Initially, got a great estimate with thoughtful plans for trimming our 4 trees, so we signed the contract and felt confident based on the person who came out. Waited a month for our appointment. The night before we get a text asking us to mark the trees they should remove (we weren't having any trees removed). Then the guys come out with no idea of what they are supposed to trim, asking my husband to tell them what he wants done. Being that we didn't want to have to supervise the job and wanted them to do what was already proposed in the estimate (which the crew didn't have a copy of), my husband called the company to see if they could send out the person who quoted the job. Mike, who answered, laughed at my husband, said, "Oh, you're one of 'those guys'. This is going to be a long day with you." He was condescending and rude and said that his guys knew exactly what to do and he wasn't going to come out, even though they were going to trim the wrong trees, and then said, "Do you want us to do the job or not?" We sent them home. I guess, had we not been home, we would have ended up with random trees trimmed or removed! Very unprofessional! read more
