It was very challenging to find an affordable hotel in Paris during fashion week. So when my French friend, born in Paris, working in Switzerland, told me this is where he stays every time he visits home.... I thought OK, I will give it a try.
It is a little further out, yes, but it is on the #1 Metro line which goes everywhere. There are some neighborhood gem places to eat -- also welcome news. Staff is friendly, another plus. Bus lines nearby as well.
The bad news, the rooms are tiny. Manhattan tiny. Walls are thin. Shower is like a vertical coffin box. Very few amenities. No lotion. No vanity set. We could barely walk around the room, that's how tight it is. Bring or buy your own. We could hear neighbors flushing, and rustling with toilet rolls.
Even worse, for me, is the terrible wi fi connection. They kept giving me more codes. Some were expired or expired quickly. I'd get kicked off. It was very frustrating, and yes, that's how most of us get some work in while we are away. I hope they improve that...b/c if they did, I might go back. read more
