I wish we could leave a 5-star review, and if we stayed, we maybe could have. We planned this trip and paid in advance, as required, for our 8-day stay. We understood the cancellation policy. Unfortunately, I was transferred for work, from Maryland to Missouri (1000+ miles) with only 2 weeks notice, and was required to be in my new location, with all leave cancelled, BEFORE this vacation was to start. I called and explained, and was told NO REFUNDS. I even requested a credit to use later when I COULD use leave for vacation. Still denied. Horrible customer service and no regard for my situation. I would avoid this hotel in case you have any unavoidable emergencies because you'll lose your money! read more

Cute and very well located to get around the area. Easy walk yo restaurants and shopping areas. The rooms would be considered small by U S standards. There is a craft coffee maker with eight selections from espresso to cappuccino. No charge. In the lounge area they have a wine dispenser with you guessed it eight selections. So far we had the Longshot Chardonnay and the Jacob's Creek Cabranet. Both good. You get a $25 card from the hotel desk. You get a lot of pours. The room had wood floors, personally I prefer carpet. The TV is a 19 or 20 " screen. An upgrade to at least a 45" would be to date standards. The bed is firm with good pillows and covers. Bathroom is small with a pedestal sink. The tub is deep so bath takers rejoice! Couple casual chairs and a desk and some drawers. A closet with hanging space or store a bag. Comes with what they call a cold breakfast. Waffles, bagels, instant oatmeal, boiled eggs some bread and fruit. You can make a breakfast out of it easily. We appreciate that and was surprised due to thinking there was nothing. Cozy and cute with three floors served by an elevator. Ask for a view of the park. We stayed in unit 207 and was pleased. Staff is friendly and accomodating. Enjoy Quebec! read more

Hotel Chateau Bellevue is a wonderful find! It's charming and in a great location. I loved it! Pros: location, location, location! Walking distance to shops, restaurants, to the visitors center where you can catch the hop on-hop off bus, tours, the funicular, the Frontenac, and more. Right across the street is a park and the St. Lawrence river. Continental breakfast that includes pastries, breads, crepes, cheeses and more (very French!). Comfy sitting area where we enjoyed coffee in the mornings and wine in the afternoons. You can get a $25 card for the wine dispenser towards $1, $3, or $6 pours. Rooms are quaint and comfy. Huge bathtub for soaking. Staff is super nice and helpful! Cons: Very small room. Husband didn't like the small TV (I was fine with it). The hotel is old and could use some updates (I think the oldness adds to the charm). Steep steps up to the door. We stayed in the Bellevue room which faced the park. It was perfect! No, it's not fancy or well known like the Frontenac. But, you will find all that you need here to have a very comfortable stay at affordable prices. Also fyi: Taxi from the cruise ship was about $25 Canadian. Taxi to the airport was about $35 and took about 30-35 minutes. We were told Uber didn't really service the area very frequently. read more

This hotel is in the heart of old town. The rooms are small but comfortable and quaint. The bathroom has a huge tub great for soaking and warming up in after a brisk night walk to all the local attractions so bring your bubble bath. Many great restaurants are located nearby. In my opinion the location of this hotel is one of the best because it is on a quiet street just away from the attractions of Old Quebec. The price was a little higher than others but the location makes up for it. There is no fridge or microwave in the room and the internet television channels stream bad but we are not here to watch TV or eat in the room. I would recommend this hotel for a weekend trip to see the heart of the city. read more

We were very happy here - it's not elegant, but it's clean and centrally located. Our room was right off the lobby next to the coffee machine, which we thought would be a minus - au contraire, it was great to have it so near. No noise, our room was out of the hallway, so we heard no one around. Room was quaint, and plenty big, with a king bed, two nightstands, a desk and chair, a side table (with ice bucket, wine glasses, etc), two leather chairs in front of the big tv, and a cupboard for our clothes underneath the tv. The bathroom had a round shower, and a HUGE tub (I guess it was a jacuzzi - not sure, as I didn't use it. Continental b'fast was nothing to write home about - a wedge of brie, croissants, bagels, cold cereal, juice, and some fruit that appeared to have come from a can. The lobby has a wine dispenser and seating for about 8; adjacent are tables for breakfast. Or cards. Or whatever. Location is great, across from the park, and Chateau Frontenac, walking distance to everything. Front steps entering the hotel are steep, but the person at the front desk was great, and helped us in with our luggage. Parking onsite Is valet, and I think it was $25/day. read more

This hotel is in a wonderful location. You are just outside the Frontenac hôtel. In front of the hotel is a park that just beyond is the Toboggan and an easy ride down to old Quebec. If you are traveling and didn't know - this town is a hill. Stairs are everywhere - thinking back conjures images of Kung Fu panda and Rocky's Eye of the Tiger scene, you will not need a hotel with a gym and you can leave your stairclimber at home. Just make sure you are staying where you want to be. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the hotel was clean. The room we got was smaller and on the third floor. They seemed to be upgraded and were nice. Negative-The bed was a bit firm for us and you can hear everything that is said in the hallways. Breakfast-note if you book through an American company like Expedia or Travelocity it is not included. We did not know this.... the Christmas Day breakfast was really good. We had crepes and waffles with cheeses and eggs. You will pay 15 bucks a person. The also have a wine bar in the lobby that is a nice touch. They have a pool at the sister hotel that is .5 away. Not really advised in winter. You come in with 4 layers of clothes on and have to take your shoes off to go into the pool. It was a bit dirty. The sauna was great and towels were available but not robes. If it's summer and you can travel in your suit no problem. If you are thinking of traveling to this hotel call directly and check before using some companies as you will not have all the amenities. read more

Be very careful if you decide to make a reservation with this hotel - I tried and never received a confirmation email or confirmation number of any kind so I assumed the reservation did not go through. But a couple weeks later the charges showed up on my credit card bill! They are obviously technology-challenged, stay away! read more

Fantastic location. Located in the old city but just far enough from the crowds for a little peace and quiet. It is an easy walk to find a restaurant, shopping, museum, or drink. Staff was responsive and friendly and cleanliness was very good. Some minor complaints (1) wifi is not very fast and requires constant logging back in. (2) door construction could be better for muffling hallway noise. (3) exits and hallways are narrow and with steps, so think twice about that giant roller piece of luggage. read more

The hotel is really well located from many of the main winter attractions. It's a short walk to the German Christmas Market, the funicular, the toboggan, and many other places. The rooms are a bit smaller than I imagined but are clean and cozy. I enjoyed the breakfast - a mini pastry, a croissant, jam, yogurt, grapes, cheese and a hard boiled egg. They also had a wine vending machine where I got to try ice wine. The machine does different pours so you can make your own wine flight if you wanted. My favorite part of the hotel was one of the front desk attendants. I can't remember his name (only that he is 20, from Sept-îles, and loves aviation) but he was one of the most personable hotel employees I have ever met, indulging me by letting me practice my horrible French, teaching us about the Québécois culture, and recommending a cool restaurant for my husband and I. read more

My boyfriend and I loved this hotel. Such a central location, walking distance to all of the main sights in Old Quebec, yet tucked away on a quiet side street. Truly the best of both worlds. I cannot say enough great things about the hotel staff. They held our luggage for us after check out, called us a cab to the airport, provided a map with directions on how to get to certain places. We stayed at Chateau Bellevue for two nights in early July. I booked it from Expedia without much preview- we loved it! It is directly next to a beautiful park and a stone's throw from Chateau Frontenac. We spent many hours in the park under the trees. The rooms are small, but really- we were out and about most of the time. Bed was comfortable and the staff was very helpful. Quebec City is a beautiful locale, and the hotel was the icing on the cake. We would definitely return to stay here! **This could apply to anywhere we went in Quebec, but we were so appreciative of the gracious way people spoke to us in English. Truly impressed. read more

Excellent hotel choice for tourists. Hotel is extremely well located in the heart of the Vieux Quebec and only 50 meters or so from the Chateau Frontenac. Very well priced for the location. We paid $150CDN a night for a double room. We were upgraded for free to a King Suite upon arrival. The room was great with a huge king bed, very modern shower, 2 extra rooms (a small sitting room and another sitting room with couch, chair and extra tv). The room had TWO wall mounted flat screened tvs. Hardwood floors and faux brick walls. There is a free continental breakfast which included apples, oranges, bananas, yogurts, large assortment of fresh breads and bagels, freshly made crepes, local jams, nutella, cereals and oatmeal. There is fresh coffee, good assortment of teas and a nice cappuccino machine which can be used 24/7. Breakfast area seats 25 or so but gets very packed around 9am so try to arrive early. Staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend. read more

We spent our 25th anniversary in Quebec City and my husband picked this hotel because he wanted us to be close to the Frontenac. We were happy to enjoy the meal package at Aux Anciens Canadiens. Hotel was great for us, up above old Quebec City and the boardwalk and Frontenac Hotel. We walked everywhere, enjoyed tons of great food, and really loved the city. I thought the room was a little small, simply because of the Bureau and 2nd chair being in the way. I think a series of shelves under the TV that you can put a bag on, or getting rid of the chair would make a huge difference in how two people navigate around the room. My two regrets are that I didn't take a bath in the super deep tub (honestly, I'm a tall/big person, and a tub that actually "fits" me is a rare find at a hotel!) and I didn't use the groovy wine robot. You should totally use the wine robot and raise a glass to my recommendation thereof. Staff here was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Very kind and engaging. Really enjoyed our stay. read more

This is an absolutely gorgeous little hotel with plenty of old world charm while still being modern in the heart of Old Quebec. My partner and I had a beautiful view of Chateaux Frontenac and the St Lawrence River from our room with a free Continental breakfast and wi-fi for only $100 a night. There is also a small gym and spa in the hotel which we made great use of. The staff were friendly and helpful and I would recommend the hotel to anyone. It was certainly more enjoyable than Chateaux Frontenac which we also stayed at and was not worth the price tag! read more

Near the Chateau Frontenac (which we visited and did not like - too big and noisy, not welcoming). Near all the sights and activities of the old town. The hotel overlooks a lovely park and the water just beyond. Their taxi service is just behind the hotel - so taxis arrive promptly. The only down-side are the steps getting up to the hotel entrance. Steep! Hard for Oldsters. Would we stay there again? Absolutely! PS A shout-out to Ivan and Alexandra at the reception desk. As newlyweds we spent our honeymoon at Chateau Bellvue and were not disappointed. This hotel cannot be beat for service and location. We arrived the first night to find a very well priced but very small room. Immediately the lady at the front desk gave us a $24 wine card to be used in the wine dispenser in the lobby when we mentioned it was our honeymoon. After the first night in our very small room, we mentioned that we would like a larger room and the front desk staff went out of their way to book is into a larger room during a very busy Canada Day weekend. We spent two nights in room 017 which was amazing! The two person jacuzzi tub with the lights was so romantic! Room 116, where we spent our last night had two rooms with two TVs. Also amazing! The upgrade is well worth the extra money. If and when we return to Quebec City we will not hesitate to stay here again. We were treated with the utmost respect and hospitality. Our trip was cancelled Friday evening for a Saturday afternoon arrival due to weather so severe that the national weather service recommended cancellation of all non essential travel in the region. Despite trying to reschedule two weeks later and directly pleading with the hotel and via booking.com, the hotel charged the full amount as a penalty and would not even consider allowing us to rebook without full penalty. I will not rebook with this hotel and warn anyone booking here that they are unwilling to consider any request to help a customer. My advice: Find a better hotel with some idea of how to deal properly with people. read more

Absolutely perfect location if you want to tour Old Quebec! A charming hotel! Wonderful staff! Accommodated English speakers completely. Nice continental breakfast (included if you book the room directly with them but $9/meal if you book thru travel websites). No refrigerator in room but then there is really no place nearby (or seemingly in Old Quebec) like a convenience store or grocery store where you can buy food/beverages in order to keep in your room. They did have a couple vending machines on the basement level of the hotel. They have desk staff 24/7 and they are happy to call a taxi for you. Our cab ride to the airport was $32 Canadian and they do take credit cards. We used Uber from the airport but none was available at 4am (plus I read that Uber is pulling out of Quebec due to stricter regulations being applied to them). One suggestion is to request to NOT have room 108. It's the one nearest to the lobby door where all the guests must pass through and there was also a moderately loud constant hum or a motor or ventilation system. It wasn't terribly disturbing but some might take issue with the noise. I figure that it is probably the room given to those of us who booked a room through alternative discount websites (Orbitz in our case). But again, WELL worth the price!!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was not free, but $8.50, which was a bit stiff. This hotel reviewed pretty well on this site so we decided to stray from our favorite place in Quebec City and try it. Unfortunately, we should have stuck with what we knew. The room was nice looking but had a wood look vinyl floor that was cold, uncomfortable and dirty all the time from tracked in salt, sand and snow. We had a lovely view of the St. Lawrence river but listened to the wind whistle through the "new" windows 24/7 for the first 2 days we were there. The lobby was small, cold and not very comfortable to relax in. The breakfast had a good selection and good coffee. Issues with room rates and a management that wouldn't budge will most definitely keep me from staying there again. read more

Me and my boyfriend stayed in Chateau Bellevue for our stay in Quebec City and we absolutely loved it! It was even better than expected. Upon check in, the man at the front desk was exceptionally helpful even giving us suggestions for the best restaurants and attractions. Our room was, I believe, the cheapest of all the rooms. it was very small with a king sized bed but we expected this because we booked it online. It suited our needs because there were only 2 of us anyway. it was in the best spot so we could walk everywhere we needed to go. The continental breakfast was free and was really great for a free breakfast! I mean, who gets to eat crepes every morning? It was great! The tea selection was awesome also, and the breakfast, overall was filling. At the end of our stay I was so sad to leave this little hotel. I have grown to love it the small amount of time we were there. All of the staff were great and helpful with suggestions and the free breakfast was great. We will most definitely be staying here the next time we visit Quebec City! read more
