It was so relaxing in the leather arm chairs we enjoyed our night caps before heading to bed. The hotel room was nicely decorated slightly got away with the datedness. They had a fabulous restaurant right next door and driving distance to some of the best vineyards in the rhone.

The person who greeted us was not very friendly, and we felt similarly when we checked out. The walk upstairs to our room was treacherous, so we left our bags in the car and carried up only what we needed by hand. Parking was odd - just a couple spots on the street, but if those were taken, you had to pay for metered, and the time on that was limited. The hallways were dark and had a very strong unpleasant smell. The control of the lights in the bedroom was weird so you had to get up from bed to turn off the lights - not well thought out. The space was huge, which was nice. But it seemed you were paying for the modern furniture and restaurant downstairs, rather than the accommodations themselves. And breakfast is not included. Next time I'm in Beaune, I'll certainly seek out less expensive and friendlier lodging.

Not pretentious (not saying many places are in Beaune) but this is mom and pops kinda place. Off the roadside of Rue Saint Marcel, a bit tucked away, but not hard to find. Pre-fix lunch was stellar.....Escargots Ravioli was mind blowing. The sauce was light and very flavorful - super generous on the portions too (at least a dozen), Foie Gras was simple and plentiful, half a quail stuffed with Foie Gras and black truffle was the highlight - moist and tender. Perfectly prepared. As always, a nice cheese cart and dessert to end the meal. We ordered some great wines with lunch as well: 2012 Dom Bernard Thierry Glantenay les Folatieres Puligny Montrachet - this will be a place where I will come back over and over again.

My wife fell in love with this place and vowed to come back. The hotel is an old abbey and it rambles on. There are parlors, a bar, sitting rooms tucked away everywhere. The rooms are spacious and quaint, but with modern bathrooms. We were transported into another time and place and found the whole experience quite relaxing. Our dinner was exemplary. Each course looked beautiful and tasted even better. Some of the flavor combinations showed real inventiveness, such as the fish crudo with squash broth and many other little tastes on the plate. The pork main course was beautiful and the flavors were divine. Our wine was wonderful also, the list is large and fairly priced (at least for an expensive restaurant). The chef came out afterwards and even came to the front desk to recommend lunch for us the following day in another part of France. (unfortunately it was closed) Absolutely wonderful!
