We had our luggage shipped from Bern to Warwick so we can easily hop on a train from Montreux to Geneva (after traveling to different parts of Switzerland). We arrived in Geneva early in the morning and it had been raining. The front desk staff was very warm and welcoming. It was such a relief to hear our room was ready and our luggage was in their storage. So, before we started exploring Geneva, we relaxed a little bit in the room. The room was spacious even with 2 big pieces of luggage, 2 backpacks, and multiple shopping bags. We had a view of Montblanc. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a decent size. It was very good stay and we were here for several nights before flying back home. Going to the airport and back to Warwick is so easy. A quick walk to the train station, an 8-10 minute train ride to the airport. I had to catch a flight to Nice early in the morning. Before leaving the hotel, I wanted to make sure I'd be able to get in late at night (some hotels require a code to enter after hours). But nobody was at the front desk at 5am. My flight from Nice to Geneva landed at 11:30pm and I was kind of worried I won't be able to get in. The bellman wasn't there anymore. But thank goodness I was able to get in. Going to famous landmarks in Geneva was so easy being close to bus stations and the train station. The bus station can be pretty confusing at first especially in the pouring rain. Overall, it was a great stay. The location was the biggest plus for me and the front desk.

And as we were going to travel by train regularly both within Switzerland and to other European countries, and also needed to store some of our luggage we decided on the Warwick Hotel. Worst decision ever. Location was great right across the train station. The only other good thing about this hotel was the Breakfast. Everything else including the bellhops, concierge, front desk,housekeeping was bad. Very bad. The hotel reminded me of old Soviet Hotels where employees would refuse service unless they received nice tips. One tip one service. They expected a bigger tip for the next service. No tip, sulky employees that disrespected you and refused service. Except that the Warwick Geneva was an American Hotel. On paper at least. The bellhops stood waiting around and refused service, the frontdesk tried to change the room we booked to a lower class cheaper room, not once but three times without compensation. The housekeepers kept barging into our room despite the "Do not Disturb" sign and kept calling the room to caution me that they are ready to clean the room. One housekeeper informed me that she was connected to the hotel management in case I complained and requested a tip (bribe). I complained to the Duty Manager. Not much change. Our newly renovated room had absolutely no sound insulation. You could hear the toilet paper roller from the next room and of course other things. If you do book a room on the top floor be mindful of the kitchen smells coming from the exhaust pipe. There were other issues that I cannot write here. Worst decision of my life. Worst hotel stay ever. When hotel employees from top to bottom think they are more important than paying guests and start acting up to paying guests than you have a toxic hotel. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

The rooms are SILENT, and the top floor has electric exterior shutters that make the rooms pitch black. * Value (4/5): Geneva is expensive, but this doesn't break the bank for what you get. Our rate included a huge breakfast buffet with made to order options, and the club level access provides enough food and drinks to count as dinner. * Experience (5/5): The rooms are modern and clean. The location is excellent and very central -- less than a 5-minute walk to Cornavin train station, Lake Geneva, as well as many bars and restaurants, which made getting around and finding food extremely convenient. The lobby is beautiful and gives a great first impression when you walk in. However, my overall experience was disappointing due to several ongoing issues during my stay. I was disappointed no gym was on site. They did have an affiliation with the gym nextdoor but was a per day payment required. Some areas of the hotel, particularly the hallway, felt outdated. There were also noticeable squeaking sounds from the suite and closet doors, which became irritating over time. WiFi connectivity was extremely poor in the room, with no stable connection, forcing me to use the lobby instead for all my work calls. Despite raising this issue, there was no acknowledgment or resolution offered. The bed was also very uncomfortable for a long-term stay -- two single beds pushed together with a noticeable split in the middle, which caused significant discomfort and back pain every morning. The bathroom setup was not ideal, particularly the shower head placement, which made showering awkward and often caused water to spill onto the bathroom floor. There was also visible water damage at the bottom of the bathroom door, suggesting a long-term issue. Housekeeping was inconsistent. The first two cleanings were acceptable, but the third week was poorly done -- the shower, toilet, and sink were not properly cleaned, and toilet paper was not restocked, which was disappointing. Overall, while the location and lobby are strong positives, the room quality, maintenance, and service consistency did not meet my full expectations for a long-term business stay.

I would stay the Ritz Carlton I walked by nearby next time but it was okay enough. They weren't super nice at check in when I told them that no, I was paying for the room and it should have been in my name. Pretty sure he rolled his eyes at me, even if not intentional. They also could not give change at the desk for USD/CHF, which is pretty standard at hotels in Europe. Aside from that and being less than impressed with how small the room was, even for EU, it was good enough but not anymore than 3 stars for me.

Breakfast is good even though you might think is too expensive, but think again: it's an expensive city. Absolutely indispensable were those free tram tickets the hotel provided for the duration of the stay. 5min walk to the nearest stop, no more than 10min wait, 20min comfortable ride, and you are in the old city center. Check if you can use your Orbitz points when booking: that was very beneficial for us.
