This is a fine hotel in the very popular Latin Quarter! It is perfectly located on Rue des Ecoles, which is a quick walk from Blvd. St. Germain and Blvd. St. Michel. The day staff (Brice) is very helpful and speaks English in case you don't speak French. He arranged for a taxi to pick us up the day of our departure and was happy to answer questions and give advice regarding events occurring in Paris on July 14th (Bastille Day). The room we stayed in was newly renovated and updated and extremely clean. The sink was shallow and not ideal for washing face/shaving, but easy enough to deal with. The shower didn't have a curtain, so some water does escape. You can regulate the air conditioning in your room. The breakfast was pricey (12 euros) for a small spread of cold meats, cheeses, pastries, and cereal, but there is a café down the street that offers an international breakfast of omelets or eggs, bread, croissant, hot coffee/tea/hot chocolate for less. Some things to know: the lift is TINY - no more than 2 people at a time, and the lift doesn't go all the way up to the 6th floor, so if your room is up there you will need to carry your luggage up and down a big flight of spiral stairs (no help was offered). One of the gentlemen working the night shift was very helpful and accommodating, while the other was not. He acted bothered when we'd ask questions upon returning to the hotel each evening. This is a great hotel for the price. Prime location, clean, courteous staff (mostly). I highly recommend this hotel! I would definitely stay here again. read more
