Our daughter signed up to do the 6 hrs required in-person instruction. It was a pretty good price and they come pick her up for her lessons. We unfortunately had to delay her lessons (which was scheduled for March) due to COVID, but we were able to start in May. I like that they send a copy of the evaluation so we know what she needed to work on in between lessons. She had her last lesson this past Sunday, took her driver's test on Monday and passed! We have used 15 Driving school for both of our children. I highly recommend them. They are competitively priced & accommodating to our needs. They were very informative regarding how to schedule each lesson and what they would cover. The instructor met with me after each lesson & made practice suggestions. Desi was a terrific instructor! We paid for 6 hour driving lesson package for the DMV driving test. Then we realized it's impossible to schedule the lessons with them. They are short of instructors and we needed to wait for 3 weeks to get to the behind the wheel driving lessons, and for those appointments we drove 20 miles to meet with the instructor. On Their website they claim the instructor will pick you up and drop you off your home, and it's totally untrue. They make you drive from San Diego to Temecula to where their office and instructors located. We couldn't even get to the last lesson before the DMV test, and the staff told us to reschedule with DMV. We called 3 weeks before our DMV test, and they are fully booked? Do not sign up lessons with them; their staff is really rude and not helpful. read more

I can confidently say that I-5 driving school is hands down the best driving school service in San Diego if not SoCal. We have used their service for our first 2 kids ( who have passed w/ flying colors and will use again in a few yrs when our 3rd kid is ready to take the road. Our instructor, Josh B. is simply the best, aka our 'go to' guy, aka 'GOAT' :). He's extremely knowledgeable w/ all aspects of the "life skill" called driving, DMV testing , and all fundamentals. I changed from another driving school that both myself and my son were not happy with. A friend recommended I-5. After calling I-5 and speaking with Victor I instantly knew this was the perfect match for us. My son had 3 lessons with Victor and 2 with Sonya. Both instructors made my son feel comfortable and both took the time to talk through with me where they went and how he did. Needless to say passing first time with only 3 errors and no comments was absolutely awesome. I definitely know this was due to the professionalism and friendliness of both his instructors that ultimately made him feel comfortable and confident in his abilities. After attempting to give my own kid a little bit of behind the wheel instruction, I decided I should probably leave it to a professional (just for my sanity!), so I asked several of my friends for recommendations. My driving instructor made me feel very comfortable driving for my first time. He was also very funny and made the long drive enjoyable as well as a positive learning experience. He taught me how to parallel park, and I feel very comfortable doing that now! Also, learned that crossing during an intersection is not safe and not to worry about drivers behind me tailgating because I am not going fast enough for that car. My first son used this company, so I thought it would be fine for my 2nd. NOT SO!! The instructor was 1/2 early and took my son out without me being home. He then returned my son WITHOUT speaking to me about how it went!! The instructor got my son flustered and did not start from "square one" (he was very inexperienced). But mind you, this is his FIRST time behind the wheel! The instructor lost his temper and cursed while with my son. Hello. My daughter had her driving lessons with this school. A friend recommended you to us and suggested Josh as the instructor to chose. We were very pleased with the course of events. My baby girl was quite nervous at the beginning (nervous anticipation for the whole month leading up to the lessons) so, of course I began to get a little anxious too. Josh let me know that was all normal. I also felt comfortable after talking with him, as I must admit, I inicially had reservations about sending my daughter off with some man I didn't know. She also said after the lessons how comfortable she felt. She doesn't take the driving test for another few weeks, but I have no doubt she will pass, and thanks to I-5 for helping us along this journey. Will definitely recommend to friends. read more

since the schools no longer offer drivers ed like when I was in school my little nephew who needed to take a course to get his learners permit needed to find a school. We checked around for something close to home and since he lives in escondido this school seemed to be fair and close. after his lesson he said it was a lot of fun and his instructor Josh was a real kick and made it seem easy and very comfortable. he said he is going to tell all his friends to also go there and make sure they get Josh as the more fun the merrier he said. read more

This school is fantastic in the way that they teach students, who may be nervous or unsure about their ability behind a wheel, how to feel confident and aware. The basics are here, sure, but they go beyond to make you feel comfortable, appreciated, and welcome. My nephew was ecstatic that his instructor, Josh, was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable without being stern or disinterested. This helped him retain more information as he was learning throughout the process. We had 3 tests with this company. The first instructor we had, we were not too impressed with. Then I was informed he is no longer employed by them. Our instructor for the 2nd and 3rd tests was Shawn Carlton. He was prompt, professional, and patient. He gave us great advice on training our son and made us feel very comfortable and safe. First time instructor was 15 mins late. And showed up with sleepy eyes. Second time another instructor made me very frustrated becoz every one has their own way doing things, I got trained by two different instructors with two different styles so my experience wasn't pleasure. When I complain to the manager they just simply saying there is nothing they can do. I won't go back with them. We've had two lessons with I-5 Driving School, and I joined Yelp to say we've had the worst experience with the driving instructor Mary. During the first lesson, she was distracted with her phone and did not pay too much attention to my son. After the first lesson, she asked to use the restroom in our home. She was in the bathroom for 20 minutes, went number 2, and sprayed my son's AXE spray all over the bathroom. We booked with a different instructor for the second lesson but that instructor was unable to make it, so Mary showed up for my son's second lesson. There were ants crawling in her car over and around all the candy. She was on her phone during the entire lesson, and yelled at my son to the point of tears. He's completely stressed out and traumatized. He's now afraid to get behind the wheel. Mary is unprofessional and should not be working with new drivers. What a horrible waste of time and money. Mary caused so much stress to our son. We'll be going elsewhere for the third lesson. We don't want him coming home in tears again. read more

After trying to teach my daughter to drive her new car which was a stick shift (my thought was with a stick less chance of texting), I realized how challenging that was and decided to turn to some professionals. After some referrals o chose this outfit and was impressed with how quickly, smoothly and safely my daughter learned how to drive her car. The person we were assigned to was name Josh I believe. My daughter had all 3 of her driving lessons with I5 Driving School, and 2 of her 3 lessons specifically with Josh. As a parent, he made me feel very at ease and comfortable with him teaching my daughter how to drive. My daughter said she enjoyed all 3 lessons but that she got the most out of her lessons with Josh. She took her final lesson just before her exam and she did very well and passed her test with flying colors. I went to their school because my friend had a great experience with their son. They had an instructor named Josh that they liked a lot. We asked for him, and it went perfectly. The school had great rates, that were cheaper than a few other places we looked at. Josh wrote extensive notes for my son, who was really nervous about the lesson. I chose I-5 driving school to help my son activate his permit and get some behind the wheel training before I started to practice with him. Josh took him out several times and coached him thru his first few lessons. My son tends to get a little anxious with new things so he really needed someone who would work with him in a way where he felt safe and comfortable. Josh even wrote down a few things for me to work with him on when I took him out. Finally, I had Josh come out and do one last lesson with him after I had worked with him for a few months to see if he thought he was ready for his exam. I would've given this place 5 stars, but my daughter didn't care for the woman she had for the first lesson. We asked the office for somebody else, and we had Josh for the last two lessons. We couldn't have been happier. He took the time to answer the many questions I had for the second lesson, as I was worried about her driving on the freeway and merging. The third lesson, we peppered him with questions about what would be on the DMV test. He answered them all, and gave us notes and a mock test for my daughter. Unfortunately, she failed the first time she took it. That was her fault (running a red light when she thought she could make the yellow). The second time she took the test she merely missed three things. The past few weeks, I've talked to other parents about the driving schools they went with. It seems most of them had one problem or another. One school had multiple kids in the car at the same time. Another school just ran various errands the driving instructor needed to do that day. One school was an hour late and offered no explanation as to why. And truth be told, I wouldn't even bother taking the time to write a Yelp review, but when I contacted Josh to thank him, he jokingly said, "Nothing says 'thank you' like a good Yelp review." I figured most businesses probably just get bad Yelp reviews when they do something wrong. Many businesses probably have good Yelp reviews done by family and friends. What better way to show your appreciation for the great service you had than writing a positive review about your experience. So here's my 4-star review. When my neighbors or friends ask what driving school they should go to, I'll be recommending this one. read more

I got to choose where my son was picked up for each lesson. Larry did my son's first two lessons and was fantastic. Josh did his final one. My son was very comfortable driving for the first, because Larry was so calm and informative. Everything your child needs to know to successfully complete their driving test will be taught and practiced with I-5!
